Should have cleaner/tidier houses seeing as they don't work? I'm a sahm with severe disabilities (supported by dh - no hand outs) & I keep my house clean.

Ps this isn't just about people on benefits - it just so happens I'm watching it on TV now.

DS says thank you to you lovely tax payers for his ipad. Or he would, if he wasn't non-verbal. I'm sure he's thinking it though.

I want a blow-by-blow account of the OP's stated disabilities. I also want to know whether her disabilities are caused or exacerbated by her roll-up habit (as that is soooooo much better than smoking tipped cigarettes, hahaha)

WooltonPie · 29/01/2015 21:46

He has been given a 7 seater car by the dla.

Oh dear. Have you seen the co-pay on MOTABILITY cars? Not 'handed out by DLA' cars

ouryve · 29/01/2015 21:47

No one should have to sleep on a shit mattress, LadyLupin

Mumsnet paid for half of mine. I won some John Lewis vouchers. Carer's allowance paid for the other half.

ghostspirit · 29/01/2015 21:48

christmas could probably get the 2 youngest up the chimney. yeah i don't want to pay them to much wont be able to afford me tatoos and my nails

helpme at my kids primary school they use ipads. so they do use them for learning. my 7 year old was telling me something about making an 11 page bbok with the ipad and printing off. and they do other stuff as well.. my daughter who is in reception uses them as well although she does not tell me what they do... but defo used in schools

PesoPenguin · 29/01/2015 21:51

None of the families had 16 children though. There were 19 children between 3 families. Two of the houses seemed fine but one (the 3 storey one) was absolutely disgusting. It's nothing to do with benefits, it's not ok to make kids live in that filth. The kids, clothes were filthy too Sad

LadyLupin · 29/01/2015 21:53

Ouryve, that's so true. There must be grants or funding out there somewhere that I should have applied for. I'm just not used to paying for my own stuff. It came as a bit of a shock. Let down by the tax payer. I'm considering getting a cleaner. I could clean up myself but I might miss Jeremy Kyle. I'm not sure it's worth the risk.

SilentBob · 29/01/2015 21:53

I know, I know, usual I so should have sold my sofa when I had to claim JSA from the taxpayers! I'm so fucking entitled!

Actually, that's another thing that gets my goat (see what I did there? Wink) people telling people to sell shit when they're down and out. I did- I sold all my fucking jewellery for tuppence ha'penny and it lasted me through like 2 weeks of paying gas, electric, council tax and rent. If I tried to sell my daughters wii I probably could have got some cleaning products and a mop head with it though, I suppose. Damn me and my frivolous ways!!

ilovechristmas1 · 29/01/2015 21:56

i feel sorry for lisa, she is so put upon especially by that useless lump of a husband

she would cope just fine without him, probably better as she wouldnt have to be at his beck and call

ThePrincessBride · 29/01/2015 21:59

Frankie Tee Hee Hee! Poor man, ive never broken a mans heart broken Wink

LadyLupin I wish you were serious that sounds bloody marvellous! Hmm I would really like another baby, two more even. But I have no DP so we would need a donor? A council mansion what more could two girls want? Can we get a goat? Grin Awww look at your wee one, bless.

I've just ordered a new mattress!

Would give Jeezah one also lol.

Hic him sorry and back to the OP, I am also interested in answers to questions up thread please.

heatseeker14 · 29/01/2015 22:00

Still no excuse for living in a shit hole, cleaning products do not cost that much, fucking tired of so many on here posting excuses or lame pictures of kittens no matter how cute

ghostspirit · 29/01/2015 22:01

silent i hate it when people suggest selling your stuff as well. i think thats really sad. i should not judge but i know people that do sell their kids stuff and i think thats quite disgusting. :(

heat we dont know whats going on for them though. it might feel hopeless for them. depression. lost their get up and go. then again it could just be they cant be arsed just dont know

SilentBob · 29/01/2015 22:10

ghost it is sad. I remember going through all the boxes of our packed up, homeless belongings wondering what I could flog to see us through- this was less than 12 months ago so still pretty raw- and breaking my heart at pricing up the things I owned, especially things I had bought for my pfb Wink and especially knowing that my kindle (which I sold for £12!!!) was pretty much defunct in the 'get money to feed family' stakes. My daughter is 16, btw, so I am not talking first this and that, just stuff, y'know.

ThePrincessBride · 29/01/2015 22:10

MrsdeVere I just had a memory of my sister and I when we were really young shredding pillows and our quilts to get the fluff (had totally forgotten that) our mum didn't seem to impressed by our snow palace.

Don't be silly you don't actually have to pay for the car please don't ruin our good name by letting others know you don't get it all for free!

heatseeker no one is making lame excuses for anyone. Don't take it out on the kittens!

heatseeker14 · 29/01/2015 22:11

I can empathise I struggle, not all the time but sometimes I need a fucking rocket to get motivated. I question why I'm here all the time, but I push myself for my family.

ThePrincessBride · 29/01/2015 22:14

silent that is sad. I've been there as well. Remember crying knowing I would never be able to replace it all (still haven't). I hope things are better for you and your family now.

Homepride1 · 29/01/2015 22:16

I actually have no idea how the mobility scheme works, he was talking about his car in the programs and said he paid £200 upfront and just has to but in fuel and then give it back for a new one in 3 years!

Only stating what I heard him say, like I said I don't have or know anyone who gets one of theses cars

AIBU to think that all the people who sit about waiting to pile in on benefit-bashing threads and slag off those receiving them for insufficient skirting boarding dusting and forelock-tugging should GET A FUCKING HOBBY?

Seriously, people: sew, knit, jog, bake, learn opera singing. Don't rot what's left of your brain watching shit programmes which aim to make you sit up and bark like a trained seal.

The Family Fund is fantastic, they supplied my youngest child's iPad. It means I can actually leave the house and do stuff with my other DC. Like eat in restaurants and be judged for having a toddler sit and stare at a screen for an hour. Although, to be fair, I've never felt judged for it. Or for breastfeeding. Or for claiming benefits. I keep waiting for the day I can come on MN to start an 'I am fuming' or 'I am outraged' thread but it hasn't happened yet.

All these people moaning about disability cars and hand outs. You are missing a trick. All you have to do is exchange your or your child's health and future and you too could be loaning a 7 seater car. A small price to pay don't you think. Totally worth it. Higher rate mobility is so hard to get. I'm considering chopping a leg off, cause I am just so envious of those freebie cars that I just have to have one.

expatinscotland · 29/01/2015 22:23

I doubt anyone would want to trade all the benefits for my shit life.

LadyLupin · 29/01/2015 22:24

PrincessBride, I looked at house shares as it gets a bit boring living on my own but no one wanted to share with me. Preteens and toddlers, how could anyone resist!
