I think he deserves privacy. Poor poor man only went to his work, he didn't mean to cause an accident.

Would be accused of cover-up if they never named him. I can't imagine the poor man could feel any worse than he already does.

I think he should only have been named if legal proceedings were needed and had been concluded. We don't need to know his name - so why has it been given?

But now his name and where he is from has been given, he doesn't even have the privacy to grieve and get over his shock.

people are obviously still going g to be angry and upset and in a mess about what happened. The chances of them all thinking clearly enough to realise it wasn't hos fault are slim as are the chances that people won't jump to their own conclusions about what happened.

He should have been protected. He is going to feel awful enough about what happened.

I agree. Do they know yet what caused the lorry to crash? What is to be gained by having his name out there unless they know a crime has been committed?

It's all over the a Daily Record. I think it's a bad idea for a few reasons. For a start we have no idea what actually happened to cause the accident and I'm not sure if the results of the Police report which is due is even going to be made public. Regardless of the circumstances the consequences are horrific and this will be difficult for him to come to terms with, making his name public will only increase the trauma and guilt for him I would fear. And secondly not everyone in society is rational and thoughtful about this....could lead to some idiots reacting, although hopefully not.

There was an article floating about that were accusing Police Scotland of a cover up. That the driver was muslim... which of course means terrorist

I can't believe some people thinking that he doesn't need to come to terms with this just because he hasn't personally lost a loved one. I've did grief counselling with many people and grief is not just reserved for losing someone close to them.

There's absolutely no need for it. There was/is nothing in any of the things they've printed that needed his name attached.

The doorstepping is vile. Doesn't surprise me though, my sister discovered her neighbour (who she didn't know) had lost her Dad in the Clutha crash when a journalist knocked on the door to see if she knew when the neighbour would be home, then journalist then asked if she knew anything about the family.

Because the purpose of the grieving process is to come to terms with loss, and this is not something that will happen in 4 weeks.

Yes he didn't lose a loved one but he'll have to live with the fact that so many lives were lost because of him being at the wheel. It's a tragic tragic accident that he may never recover from.

And as for it only being 4 weeks. He was also in hospital. We have no idea what state he was in or when the police informed him of what happened.

This is not a man who wilfully set out to cause someone else's death. This was a man trying to do his job and became unwell. And can you imagine how horrific it must have been for those in the cab, unable to reach the handbrake?!!!

They shouldn't have released his name or where he stays, or went to his daughters imo.
