I'm in my 40s and yet somehow don't feel like I've ever got a handle on this.

What times/how often do you brush & floss?

Shower?

Wash your face?

I know there are no 'right' answers to these questions but I'm trying to figure out what it means to be well-groomed and to look after myself properly. Feeling a bit lost. What does it mean to you?

One bath a week huh?

And what about washing in between?

Oh, and I don't wear manmade fibres if I can help it. A bit of lycra in things, maybe, but plenty of chance for skin to breathe.

Shower morning and night.

Clean clothes every morning and clean pjs every night.

Shower most days, I have a very active job so sometimes on work days I shower night and morning as I stink when I get home from work.
Cleanse at night if I've had makeup on otherwise a splash of water and teeth brush does me.
Change knickers and bra daily as I'm sweaty.
Jeans only get washed when they're visibly stained, tops probably worn twice, gym kit worn once then washed.
I skip the occasional shower if I'm just lounging around.
Have short hair which gets washed whenever I shower as I have mega bed head otherwise.

What do people do with a family's worth of wet flannels? Do you reuse them?
My mind boggles.

What times/how often do you brush & floss? brush every morning and every night before bed. Floss very randomly, no routine

Shower? every morning, including hair wash except for a very rare Sunday if not going out or having visitors, when I may substitute for a very long afternoon bath with a magazine & the radio

Wash your face? Every morning in the shower and before bed I use a face wipe to remove make up

Nothing time consuming or complicated, just a very basic routine. I think this is the minimum acceptable to be considered clean and fresh, anything less frequent is a bit grubby (with one exception if you have the sort of hair that doesn't look or smell any different on subsequent days, you may hair wash less frequently but only if you are totally sure)

Shower every day (sometimes skip at the weekend if not going anywhere/seeing anyone) and wash hair most days.
Wash face in the morning and usually use a cleansing wipe at night
Brush teeth morning and night and sometimes once more during the day.
Clean underwear every day and clean clothes most days.

Bath every night. Shower also if I've been running. Cleanse, tone and moisturise every night. Wash face in the morning put on BB cream. Brush teeth twice a day floss every evening. Dentist once a year, hygenist every six months. Clean pants and socks daily. Jeans are washed after every wear. Clean tops every day as do all the family. No wonder I have so much washing!

Why does a mind boggle at using a flannel? Ffs. My elderly DM uses a flannel as she can't get in the bath. I do hope that doesn't make your mind boggle too much.

Strip wash every morning.Wash face and brush teeth.
Bath every evening and wash and condition hair and brush teeth.
I change my underwear and clothes every day.
Fresh Pj's every day.
I'm 39,bathing is sometimes exhausting for me because my health is so poorly and I'm disabled.

Why would you not reuse a flannel?

Report
HeffalumpsnWoozles · 17/01/2015 17:13

Bath every night, no time in the mornings for much other than a face wash.

Hair washed every other day or I start to feel grimy.

Shave when needed, usually twice a week.

Teeth every morning & evening before bed, floss & mouthwash.

Deodorant, body lotion & perfume daily.

Clean underwear and socks daily, trousers every 2 days, tops vary dependng if I've just been sat at my desk all day but I rotate so I never wear something 2 days in a row.

Wow, you lot are clean!

I have a bath (inc hair wash & shaving pits & legs) once a week on a sunday evening. I shower once a week (inc hair wash), usually wednesday morning before work. And that's it, no in between washing except hand washing after toilet.

I clean my teeth every morning before work & every night before bed. Bedtime only at the weekends. I've never flossed in my life.

clean pants n socks every day, bra lasts a week, clothes a couple of days depending on how dirty they get.

i seem to be dirtier than most on this thread. Dh showers approx once a fortnight & hasn't used shampoo since 1990. DCs shower or bath 2-3 times a week unless extra grubby from rugby or whatever.

That's a bit gross. don't you even clean your pits and bits in between the bath and the shower?

Report
BMO · 17/01/2015 17:22

If you don't wash daily you are likely to smell tbh.

Report
YolandiFuckinVisser · 17/01/2015 17:22

No. I apply deodorant each morning though.

honeycherrychoc · 17/01/2015 17:24

My niece doesn't smell and only baths once a week.

Depends on a variety of factors, I think.

Report
Notnaice · 17/01/2015 17:24

I wouldn't reuse a flannel if it had been near my bits. I can't imagine having 6 wet flannels drying and being changed each day.

Good job we all shower and use soap with our hands.

Report
honeycherrychoc · 17/01/2015 17:25

Good job you can get into the bath/shower.

I fail to see how washing a flannel is a hardship!

Report
dementedpixie · 17/01/2015 17:25

Don't you need to wash the old stuff plus sweat off before reapplying your deodorant? I use antiperspirant and still need to wash each day

Report
DramaAlpaca · 17/01/2015 17:28

Shower & wash hair every morning, twice a day if it's been a very hot day or if I've been exercising.

Brush teeth twice a day, sometimes again with water after lunch.

Use anti-perspirant every day.

Epilate regularly.

Cut toenails & fingernails when they start to annoy me.

Wear clean undies & socks every day. I might wear tops for a couple of days, but jeans can last a week unless obviously stained.

Shower every weekday morning, weekends usually a bit later in the day
Wash hair most days with the odd day off if I can get away with it
Brush teeth morning and night, and in between if going 'out'. Not very good at flossing Blush
Wash face with facial wash first thing in the shower in the morning, and when I get home from work in the evening. Moisturise.
Clean knickers every day (plus evening if going out), bra change every couple of days
Tops / dresses i.e. anything that has direct contact with underarms only worn once before washing
Jeans / trousers / skirts prob worn 3ish times before washing

blacktreaclecat · 17/01/2015 17:37

Brush- after breakfast and before bed, often after lunch or if going out in the evening. Floss before bed. Admit to not flossing daily, maybe 4x a week.
Shower every morning, wash face in the shower, bath every evening and wash face then.

I'm surprised the OP hasn't been back, but she's either a name changer or new poster yesterday. Maybe we scared her away?

Shower every morning, wash hair pretty much every morning.
Shower pretty much every night. It's rare not to.
Shower in between if necessary.

Teeth brushed twice a day, at least.
Floss...not as often as I should.

Deodorant after every shower.
Light spray of perfume in the morning.

Clean knickers every morning
Clean pair of knickers and a T-shirt for bed, after my shower for bed sometimes, more so in winter, birthday suit otherwise.
Clean bra, socks, top daily.
Clean shorts/Capri pants at least daily in summer.
Jeans I'll wear a couple of times.
I no longer wear skirts or dresses, but when I did they were one wear only.
Cardigans/jumpers as they need it, I rarely wear them for long and they're loose fitting over something.

Linen, at least twice a week.
Towels every couple of days.

AF. I guess some of us just have a stronger smell than others, if I didn't wash my jeans after a couple of days, they'd take themselves to the machine! I wish it wasn't the case.
