to wish that people would keep their fecking filthy dogs to themselves?

Lots of people on the school run (mainly mothers), in my area, take their dogs with them for some unfathomable reason. Most mornings DS3 and I have to dodge the fucking things as the owner has them on a long lead and they block the path with them and allow them to walk up to people.

This morning we had one pig ignorant woman let her dog almost trip DS over by the dog walking at his heels.

Another woman standing on the path talking to someone over the road, dog lead blocking the whole path, lets her dog jump up at my shopping bags, I have to ask her to move her dog.

Then further up, massive dog doing a big stinking shit (FFS who wants to smell that first thing in the morning in the street) dog lead again blocking the whole path, while woman chattering away on her phone, dog then comes to sniff at my bags.

ABU to say to people 'keep your filthy animal to yourself' and kick the next one who invades into my personal space.

I don't agree with kicking other than that YANBU, dreadful behaviour from dog owners.

londonrach · 13/01/2015 13:21

Broken sorry put even if the path is has a cycle side you as the cyclist need to give way to those walking, even if they on your side. Sorry. Re the kicking. Kicking both dogs and humans who kick dogs is wrong. Op remember this is not the dogs fault but the owner for not being aware and for poorly training the dog. Pours oil onto water....

Dog owners don't get why other people think dogs suck

Very true...you can't reason with them. I find it perplexing why anyone would want such a foul creature in their home.

VictorineMeurent · 13/01/2015 13:25

The hunt used to meet at my sons' school. For children that lived in the country and loved animals this was great, hounds leaping and jumping everywhere, horses etc. and a blind eye turned to H&S (Rose Hill, now part of Westonbirt) I find all this anti dog stuff very sad.

'Dog owners don't get why other people think dogs suck'

'Very true...you can't reason with them. I find it perplexing why anyone would want such a foul creature in their home.'

So you're saying dog owners can't understand why some people dislike dogs and you can't understand why some people love dogs.

Not that different then are you? You're as lacking in imagination as the people you bemoan.

formerbabe · 13/01/2015 13:31

It's not sad at all, and besides I believe the rise in 'status dogs' owned by wrong uns is the reason many people don't like dogs.

Correct, I can't understand why anyone would want something which smells so bad in their house. I can't believe anyone would willingly want to have something whose shit can cause blindness in their home. Makes me feel like I could vomit just thinking of it. If my dc tread in dog mess I have to throw their shoes out...it is toxic, vile stuff.

VictorineMeurent · 13/01/2015 13:35

I have an ancient dog of a breed usually referred to in the same breath as "status". I don't see many on the school run!

squoosh · 13/01/2015 13:37

You throw shoes out if they come into contact with dog faeces? You might want to seek help. Such a reaction isn't normal.

JoanHickson · 13/01/2015 13:37

I don't understand why dog owners allow their dogs to foul on public land. Assistance dogs are taught to only relieve themselves at home. If an assistance dog can be trained why can't dogs minus those with health conditions shit in their own land.

GogoGobo · 13/01/2015 13:40

I'd rather smell dog shit than the stench of ignorance such as that spouted by the OP and Formerbabe.

BubbleGirl01 · 13/01/2015 13:41

EveDallas 'prosecute' for what?

GogoGobo please enlighten me as to what I am ignorant of.

Yes because its toxic and can cause blindness and cleaning it off shoes makes me want to gag.

TrisMas · 13/01/2015 13:50

Ha ha ha - I have to laugh at some of the responses on here. The hysteria about dogs is just getting ridiculous. I have never known a time when so many children are bloody terrified of dogs. Talk about over-protective bloody parents!!!!!

Op, I hope a dog pees down your leg tomorrow. Your irrational views are a teensy bit childish. Massive progress has been made where dogs are concerned. Don't you remember walking along and seeing furry poos on the floor that had been there for weeks, before the law changed about having to pick it up? Most sensible people who feel that their dogs don't have the best behaviour wouldn't take them on the school run. I think your views are slightly exaggerated...

Endler32 · 13/01/2015 13:50

I have dogs, I love my dogs but I can see where op is coming from. My dog has jumped up at a few people which is why I would never take my dogs on the school run, I walk them in fields where we are only likely to see other doggy people ( who don't mind as much if my dog leaves paw prints on them ). I hate dogs shitting everywhere but sadly it's not that easy to train your dog to poop on command in the right place, as long as the owner picks it straight up then I don't see a huge problem.

Should people take dogs on the school run? I think it's ok if they are well behaved and walk nicely without knocking people over.

Should people tie their dogs outside the school gates? No' I don't think they should, it's unfair on people who have to try and get past when they have children who do not like dogs.

LST · 13/01/2015 13:51

Formerbabe I think you need some help love...

formerbabe · 13/01/2015 13:52

And isn't it shocking that dog owners needed a law to get them to behave decently

LST · 13/01/2015 13:53

Not all dog owners dear... just some.

JoanHickson · 13/01/2015 13:54

Ender if the dog produced only dry poo, they don't all dry poo. Why would you not make the effort to train your dog to poo at home and not jump on people?

Dog owners are not the only people who enjoy fields.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 13/01/2015 13:56

Good afternoon all
Just a reminder of our talk guidelines and I guess a greater plea of peace and love.

Thanks ever so

EveDallasRetd · 13/01/2015 13:56

Animal cruelty BubbleGirl. I would report you and push for prosecution as hard as possible.

Your 'perception' is not enough to cause physical harm to an animal, especially when it is only your shopping that you 'perceive' to be in danger.

If you are encountering irresponsible owners of dogs on your travels then deal with the owners, not the dogs who are not at fault if they are badly behaved. Don't cause a physical injury to a living creature who knows no better. Deal with it in a civilised and human manner.

LST · 13/01/2015 13:58

My dog sometimes poo's on grass on a walk. I pick it up. Therefore it is no one elses problem. He wees im public too. I suppose that is an issue for some too Hmm .

He normally shits in the garden though, as do my cats. I have pets so picking up shit comes with the territory.

NoImSpartacus · 13/01/2015 14:00

Aren't you just a big bundle of joy and happiness.

YABU

I love dogs, they are beautiful creatures. More than happy for them to jump all over me to be quite honest, muddy paws and all.
