to wish that people would keep their fecking filthy dogs to themselves?

Lots of people on the school run (mainly mothers), in my area, take their dogs with them for some unfathomable reason. Most mornings DS3 and I have to dodge the fucking things as the owner has them on a long lead and they block the path with them and allow them to walk up to people.

This morning we had one pig ignorant woman let her dog almost trip DS over by the dog walking at his heels.

Another woman standing on the path talking to someone over the road, dog lead blocking the whole path, lets her dog jump up at my shopping bags, I have to ask her to move her dog.

Then further up, massive dog doing a big stinking shit (FFS who wants to smell that first thing in the morning in the street) dog lead again blocking the whole path, while woman chattering away on her phone, dog then comes to sniff at my bags.

ABU to say to people 'keep your filthy animal to yourself' and kick the next one who invades into my personal space.

We have the same problem at my dd school. There is a child allergic to dog hair which is known about but still they let their dogs block the gate entrance/exit and children and adults have to squeeze past the dog.

ApocalypseThen · 13/01/2015 10:40

What I don't understand is why they crap everywhere.

Isn't that what the owners take them out for? To foul the public spaces rather than their own property? I wish dog owners could understand that if you cannot cope with your animal's waste in an acceptable and sanitary manner, you shouldn't keep animals.

TheWitTank · 13/01/2015 10:41

Erm, no. I take mine out for exercise (for them and me). We enjoy it.

molesbreath · 13/01/2015 10:42

I don't know if your dogs have ghat community spirit LastNightadj My dog shits in its garden every morning at 7 am. It's very regular.

But It also does what we fondly call 'an excitement shit' which happens during the first 5 minutes of every walk .

plecofjustice · 13/01/2015 10:42

By all means own a child, but toilet it on your own property

I'd be just as disgusted by a child doing a shit on a pavement as I am a dog, and just as likely to complain to the owner/carer.

Eminybob · 13/01/2015 10:42

Can I just say, to the people comparing a dog to a baby - have a word with yourself ffs

Mistlewoeandwhine · 13/01/2015 10:44

I HATE DOGS -foul slobbering barking shit-machines. i will now leave this thread before the hounds are set upon me.

BertieBotts · 13/01/2015 10:45

To be fair as long as the dog owner picks up the poo you can't really complain about a dog shitting on a pavement. If they didn't then YANBU. I agree it's disgusting for the 30 seconds while it's happening but they have to do it somewhere Confused

LastNightADJSavedMyLife · 13/01/2015 10:45

They never go anywhere else moles. Mind you who doesn't like to feel relaxed when going to the toilet, maybe they're just sensitive.

Esmeismyhero · 13/01/2015 10:45

Yanbu I feel the same way! I'm not an animal person anyways but if I had this in the school run I would Hmm at the owner.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 13/01/2015 10:48

By all means own a child, but toilet it on your own property and do not allow it to approach other people.

Of course I agree with this! My DC has never pissed or shitted on the pavement. I also do not allow DC to approach random strangers unless they make the first move, as I am well aware that not everyone thinks she is as adorable as I do.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 13/01/2015 10:48

'Excitement shit' Grin

OttiliaVonBCup · 13/01/2015 10:50

I'm not posting on this ....
I'm not posting on this...
Not again.

But just to help you OP, all dogs ought to be shot, dog owners deported to North Korea and your little darlings should be left to frolic the whole Earth free.

Don't worry being considerate to other people just because they've chosen to have a stinky, horrible, shedding greedy beast. yes, I'm looking at you DDog

You and only you OP have the right to use roads, pavements and parks.

Hmm

I'm sick of having muddy dog prints on the bottom of my coat from dogs on the school run that we pass on the way to nursery.
Parents busy referring child squabbles, getting smalls across the road etc don't seem to be fully on the ball with dogs and they all come bounding over and put their muddy paws on my coat. It's fucking irritating. It's a bloody nice coat and it's new. I make pains to keep cat hair off it at home, don't wear it on muddy walks but within three mins of walking down the street it's dirty. I have no issue with dogs when they have well behaved owners but round here that doesn't seem to be much the case unfortunately.

ExitPursuedByABear · 13/01/2015 10:56

Aw come on folks. Those sound like pretty inconsiderate dog owners.

looks smugly at sleeping BastardDog

MidniteScribbler · 13/01/2015 10:59

Thou shalt not leave a poodle unclippered.

weaselsquirrel · 13/01/2015 10:59

Dogs are banned from our school so luckily there are none by the gates etc. but when my youngest was born a woman I vaguely know from the school did attempt to put her dog into my pram to give the baby a kiss. Angry I just said to her I don't think so mrs. She hasn't spoken to me since.

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 13/01/2015 11:00

Why does this always happen on threads about dogs?
Surely the dog owners on the thread acknowledge that there are SOME bad owners in existence? Surely we can criticise the bad owners without it being interpreted as saying that "all dogs ought to be shot"??
I own cats but am happy to criticise people who treat cats badly.
I don't interpret that as cat hating? It's bizzare.

PrimalLass · 13/01/2015 11:04

Ever since I was knocked off my bike by a massive dog who's owner was allowing it to run riot on a crowded path by the Thames

Why were you cycling on a crowded path? That would piss me off more than the dog.

BubbleGirl01 · 13/01/2015 11:05

Err yes my DC and I have more right to walk on the pavements and use parks than a stinking animal that someone chooses to have as a pet.

The leads were not extendable AFAIK, they were just normal leads. Owner on one side of the path, animal on the other. No attempt to rein them in as I walked by.

I have every right to kick a dog away if I perceive it as a threat to myself, my DC or my shopping. I don't want the germ ridden mouth of a dog, that has probably recently come into contact with it's arse, near my food or my legs thank you very much. If you kicked me back, you would be the one charged with assault when you finally got off the ground.

This seems to be a recent phenomenon as I have never noticed so many dogs on the school run as there are now. Paths covered in crap as well.

thats cos dog people are weird

HamishBamish · 13/01/2015 11:06

Again, I think it's the inconsiderate few (dog owners that is) who tarnish the reputation of other dog owners.

To be honest, if I had a well behaved dog it would seem fairly logical to take them on the school run. However, if was extremely noisy and hectic, then I would probably leave them at home for their own sake.

We have quite a few dogs come on the school run to DS's school. They are tied up at the entrance and always very well behaved. I've never once come across one doing anything but sitting quietly. Likewise on the pavements approaching the school.

ProbablyMe · 13/01/2015 11:11

YANBU with regards to the dog owners you seem to have come across this morning - can't help but wonder whether you were already stressed this morning which made it all seem worse. I have 2 dogs and other dog owners often annoy me, especially the gits who are letting their dogs poo on the grass in front of my house and those that allow their dogs to run up to mine unchecked! However, I've also had problems with parents (I have 4 DS by the way) who think they own the pavement and that they are more than welcome to block the path with bloody pushchairs, uncontrolled children on flipping scooters etc, not to mention the gaggles that walk several abreast and won't make allowances for other pedestrians - dog walkers or not!

Kerberos · 13/01/2015 11:12

OP. Get a grip.

Some people have dogs. Some people have scooters. Some people have children. Some people have cycles (and will use the pavements to cycle on). Some people have cats. Some people smoke cigarettes.

Some people are assholes.

There is a crossover group between each of the first groups and the asshole group. You happen to have met it this morning. Doesn't mean all dog owners are assholes. Or that all assholes have dogs.

Get a grip and stop being so inflammatory.
