to wish that people would keep their fecking filthy dogs to themselves?

Lots of people on the school run (mainly mothers), in my area, take their dogs with them for some unfathomable reason. Most mornings DS3 and I have to dodge the fucking things as the owner has them on a long lead and they block the path with them and allow them to walk up to people.

This morning we had one pig ignorant woman let her dog almost trip DS over by the dog walking at his heels.

Another woman standing on the path talking to someone over the road, dog lead blocking the whole path, lets her dog jump up at my shopping bags, I have to ask her to move her dog.

Then further up, massive dog doing a big stinking shit (FFS who wants to smell that first thing in the morning in the street) dog lead again blocking the whole path, while woman chattering away on her phone, dog then comes to sniff at my bags.

ABU to say to people 'keep your filthy animal to yourself' and kick the next one who invades into my personal space.

I have no problem with well behaved dogs with responsible owners who don't let them bother people and clean up after them.

I do have a problem with the dog (and it's owner) who snarled angrily at my kid who was playing a ball game in the park and nipped his ankles luckily the rounders bat came in very handy

I do have a problem with the person who leaves his dogs mess at the end of my street every day.

I do have a problem with the neighbour who allowed his 3 big dogs to break up the adjoining hedge and regularly invade my garden and refused to pay for a fence meaning that I had to foot the bill for a fence for the sake of my own sanity and my children's safety.

BTW it's prefectly fathomable why people take dogs to school. Dogs need walks and a walk to school still counts as a walk. I didn't like to (couldn't usually because I dropped the kids off on the way to work) because it was totally stressful. Even when I stood well out of the way I still got evils from some parents and had to fend off over-enthusiastic children who wanted to cuddle the dog Grin My dog is pretty good-natured but I still get nervous when random littlies squeeze him round the neck. Prefer to take him for interesting walk where we don't have to dodge people and cars.

sanquhar · 13/01/2015 12:01

Dogs are far superior to children.

Dogs don't:(ime)
screech
Yell
Do ear piercing squealing
Cause any ear damning squall at all
Strop
Make shit loads of mess
Ask for expensive toys
Lose my stuff

Love my kids but oh how I wish I had gone for dogs instead!

SistersOfPercy · 13/01/2015 12:02

sanquhar · 13/01/2015 12:02

How the hell did a sad face get there??

kali110 · 13/01/2015 12:03

My god you don't sound very nice. You would kick a dog if it threatened your shopping???
I don't even own a dog but if i saw you kicking someones dog i'd be kicking you as much as the owner.
This is why people think it's ok to hurt animals.

EnoughIsEnough2015 · 13/01/2015 12:05

That's like saying why do dog owners think it's ok for their dogs to be aggressive.
When my DD was bit on the face I kicked the dog off her. She's more important than a dog.

IsadoraQuagmire · 13/01/2015 12:07

OP you sound absolutely vile...

formerbabe · 13/01/2015 12:08

Hurting an animal for 'fun' is a very different thing to using force against an animal which is posing a threat.

TheChandler · 13/01/2015 12:08

I really wish I had kicked the several dogs I've felt with their teeth and breath on my ankles when I've been in a public place and they have been running around loose. Its about as close as they can go without actually biting - they obviously know that's wrong, but its a horrible feeling. Next time I hope I don't freeze with fear and retain the presence of mind to defend myself - it will probably do those dogs more good in the long run in teaching them a lesson in behaviour than their ineffective owners.

hopingforamiracle · 13/01/2015 12:10

EnoughisEnough, that is a completely different thing. Of course you'd kick a dog out of self defence, I've done it myself. We are talking about people who are cruel and intolerant of animals and would quite happily hurt them if they inconvenience them in any way. That shows a profound lack of empathy and is why I don't trust such people.

EnoughIsEnough2015 · 13/01/2015 12:12

I wouldn't go round kicking dogs. I don't like them but I still don't think hurting one deliberately is a good thing. Some people seem to have really weird ideals about how everyone should love their pets though.

kali110 · 13/01/2015 12:13

Op values her child over dogs.
Perfectly reasonable.
But shopping over a dog?if a dog got near her shopping she would kick it? Overreaction much??
That's what will be passed onto her kids.
That dogs are something to be feared.

cathpip · 13/01/2015 12:14

This is a very amusing thread :). There are dog lovers and dog haters, at least my dogs are trained, the dc are still a work in progress! Have you had a particularly stressful morning op? Happy thoughts.....

Peanut14 · 13/01/2015 12:25

Op you would kick a dog for being in your path, what do you think would happen? The dog would just go away? And when the dog bites you (becausehehasbeenprovoked), that will be the dogs fault too I suppose.

If you are that annoyed say something to the owner! Something as simple as 'would you mind moving your dog so we can pass' not kick it!

Take your issue up with the owners

EnoughIsEnough2015 · 13/01/2015 12:33

People should be more aware that dogs are animals not cuddly play things.

Some people do try talking to the owners but what do you do if they are Marseilles who refuse to do anything because they don't believe their furr baby has done anything wrong. even with a chunk of my DDs face missing

EnoughIsEnough2015 · 13/01/2015 12:33

*arseholes lmao

CuriouSir · 13/01/2015 12:47

Dog owners don't get why other people think dogs suck.

squoosh · 13/01/2015 13:01

'I have every right to kick a dog away if I perceive it as a threat to myself, my DC or my shopping. I don't want the germ ridden mouth of a dog, that has probably recently come into contact with it's arse, near my food or my legs thank you very much. If you kicked me back, you would be the one charged with assault when you finally got off the ground.'

Oh my. Your kids are lucky to have such a reasonable person as parent and role model.

This whole nasty debacle could be obliterated if everyone would love each other and just get a cat.

No you don't. If you 'perceived' my dog to be a threat and kicked it, you would be wrong and I would prosecute.

EnoughIsEnough2015 · 13/01/2015 13:16

QuickSilverFairy I'm allergic to them too :(

EveDallas hopeefully that wouldn't happen to you anyway as I'm sure you are a responsible dog owner.. No?

Pilesofironing · 13/01/2015 13:16

My DS who is 8 cannot walk into the school by himself because he is terrified of the dogs are either tied up to the railings or standing beside their owners while they have a gab. I know that the dogs are probably being friendly when they go up to him for a sniff but he refuses to believe me. It is a genuine fear.
It makes me sad that whenever we go to a park, the beach or school - we are likely to come up against an overenthusiastic slobbering/yapping dog and an owner shouting "he just wants to play. He won't hurt you etc.etc.." while I try to calm down an hysterical 8yo.

I have no problem with dogs, having owned some myself, and I have no problem with the majority of owners, but it is starting to annoy me that I am expected to smile sweetly while a barely controlled dog blocks the way into school or tramples over a family picnic.
