...would have been more like this had it been published in Britain rather than France?

Hilarious Hmm

WorraLiberty · 11/01/2015 21:22

I think there's probably an element of truth in there somewhere

However, I was distracted by the irony of you name changing to post this...

Funny and probably true.

Not surprised that Slaggy doesn't approve.

SlaggyIsland · 11/01/2015 21:32

Not surprised that Backind does.

Andrewofgg · 11/01/2015 21:32

I wish it was not so uncomfortably true.

SlaggyIsland · 11/01/2015 21:32

Back even... although I quite like Backend for you Smile

RandomNPC · 11/01/2015 21:34

Spiked Online is run by weirdos that used to form the Revolutionary Communist Party. They were bankrupted after defaming ITV about a Bosnian war atrocity.
They are now nutty right wing libertarians, and professional shit stirrers. They are like kids shouting 'look at me, look at me', and are best ignored.

LongDistanceLove · 11/01/2015 21:34

An uncomfortable truth indeed.

LikeIcan · 11/01/2015 21:35

Probably true - sadly.

tethersend · 11/01/2015 21:38

Hmm, what a well thought out and balanced article, from what is undoubtedly an unbiased and sensible publication.

I wonder what their perspective is on, oh, I don't know, the Ched Evans issue?

Oh. Err.... Hang on.

BackOnlyBriefly · 11/01/2015 21:39

That's ok SlaggyIsland. I wasn't offended :)

CruelButTrue · 11/01/2015 21:39

@ Random

I'd rather focus on the veracity of the argument than the person who makes it... ad hominem arguments simply demean those who make them.

Too close to the truth to be funny...

RandomNPC · 11/01/2015 21:40

Lovely people. Bit of a cult too.

RandomNPC · 11/01/2015 21:40

I think the Ched Evans piece published above you shows what they're like.

slightlyworriednc · 11/01/2015 21:40

I think it's quite juvenile in it's thinking. The writer has UTTERLY missed the point.
Yes, Charlie Hebdo is offensive. To many people. The outrage is at the overreaction. If a group of Muslims had responded in art, or in writing, tearing apart Charlie Hebdo and its views, then most of us would have wholeheartedly supported them. And yes, perhaps there'd have been some handwringing, and calls for a ban.
But what happened is that a bunch of nutters went on a murder spree instead. And that's woken us all up to the importance of free speech.

rootypig · 11/01/2015 21:41

Have you fucked off yet?

If not, go on then.

RandomNPC · 11/01/2015 21:42

And you've just popped up from nowhere to post crap from Spiked Online, hmmm? Are you one of their collective?

tethersend · 11/01/2015 21:43

Surely they must have some views on rape... Let's have a look.

Oh yes, here we are. Rape isn't rape unless physical violence is used. Got it.

RandomNPC · 11/01/2015 21:43

Best go fetch Clare Fox her biscuits, OP. You know how grumpy she gets.

Springheeled · 11/01/2015 21:46

The RCP were always very very odd (and bizarrely well dressed)

cruikshank · 11/01/2015 21:47

Is the point that you're trying to make that the UK is a less racist country than France?

Not sure what you're after with this thread, old bean.

ghostland · 11/01/2015 21:49

There's a joke in there somewhere about covering up Charlie in black bags so as not to be seen (or heard).
