To inform them all (probably leave Dh out of the round robin) that I do not want to have sex with them unless and until further formal notice from me?

As it seems that there is such confusion among so many people about the nature of consent I want to avoid putting any of them in the terribly awkward position of wondering whether simply being in the same room as them means they are invited to stick their dick in me.
So is that an unreasonable proposition?

I think you might be giving some posters too much benefit of the doubt there - TheCow

Cow, the thread seems to have moved on a bit but I'll try again to explain.

You seem to think I don't know or believe that sex without consent is rape. I do know this.

What I'm talking about is the OP's other point, about there being 'confusion among so many people about the nature of consent'. (my bold).

I have read some comments on MN and other forums recently and in the past that certainly back up this statement. It seems to me that people of both genders could do with being educated about the nature of consent.

I hope that's clearer.

DancingDinosaur · 08/01/2015 14:56

Hmmm, I wonder how much that would cost in postage.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 08/01/2015 14:57

Yes only

Only lovers, ok right sorry I do see what you mean now! I thought you were suggesting that women rape men!

wickedlazy · 08/01/2015 15:09

Surely women can rape men? A woman can take advantage of a drunk/drugged man. Just as women can abuse children, both male and female.

TheCowThatLaughs · 08/01/2015 15:10

What would they rape them with?

partialderivative · 08/01/2015 15:10

Being one of the men in the world, I would like to know what e-mail you are considering sending me.

I am not a rapist, and have no intentions of ever being one.

So tell me again, what e-mail are you thinking of sending me?

TheCowThatLaughs · 08/01/2015 15:12

It's in the op partial, why do you need it again?

OnlyLovers · 08/01/2015 15:12

Phew! Glad to have clarified ...

TheFecklessFairy · 08/01/2015 15:12

Poor men. Seriously, they are not all lust monsters, unable to see a woman without wanting to get a leg over. How do you even work with them? Do you greet them all as potential rapists?

This ^^

newyearsresolutionsnotforme · 08/01/2015 15:16

I get it op. I don't agree though, for me it buys into 'no means no' idea which implies to some people that only if you say no is it rape when actually it should be 'only a yes is true consent'.

So I think it just reinforce no means no rather then consent must be given as an emphatic yes. That's what we need to teach all the kids of this world, I think sadly it's too late for any adult that still buys into victim blaming.

wickedlazy · 08/01/2015 15:16

With their mouths, fingers, and if they can get the drunken/drugged/not with it man into an errect state, their vaginas?

Or would sucking the flaccid penis of a man passed out drunk/ playing with his balls etc without consent not be considered rape?

wickedlazy · 08/01/2015 15:20

Let's call it "non-consensual sexual activity"

TheCowThatLaughs · 08/01/2015 15:20

I just don't believe that women routinely penetrate men or sexually assault them against their will in order to assert power over them. For example rape of men is not used as a weapon of war, as rape of women is. Are you suggesting btw that there is a problem with drunk men being anally penetrated by the fingers of sober, calculating women for their own twisted pleasure???

newyearsresolutionsnotforme · 08/01/2015 15:21

Perhaps thats your point, I don't know. I've been up since 3am im losing all my faculties.

TheCowThatLaughs · 08/01/2015 15:21

"He was asking for it" is not an expression that is used or needs to be, for example

partialderivative · 08/01/2015 15:23

But Amanda your OP is, basically, crap!

To inform them all sexist or what?

it seems that there is such confusion among so many people about the nature of consent Says who?

simply being in the same room as them means they are invited to stick their dick You really must be gorgeous

Samcro · 08/01/2015 15:23

stupid thread title
so in op's eyes all men are potential rapists
stupid

partialderivative · 08/01/2015 15:24

or deluded

scallopsrgreat · 08/01/2015 15:25

Rape is about penetration and in the UK penetration with a penis.

Imagine my surprise that this thread is turning into "but women do it too" even though 98% of sexual crimes are committed by men.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 08/01/2015 15:26

Yes newyear you are right. That is my point.
Sorry about the sleep deprivation.
