People don't always make decisions for the greater good. You only have to look at the World Cup shenanigans to see that. On the face of it is a stupid decision, but those involved may have personal reasons for feeling otherwise.

wanttosqueezeyou · 07/01/2015 11:41

sickening.

Daddy appears to be paying OA to take him. I've wondered what his motivation is behind his support of CE but it starts to seem that he's just a woman hater.

FreudiansSlipper · 07/01/2015 11:42

I have just read an article about this on the Telegraph website

it was depressing and the comments below even more so and they are mainly about how the feminists are blowing this all out of proportion, Evans has become the victim questioning do feminists really care about other issues such as FGM and so on an d it is all so personal Hmm

well yes we do keep signing it has become much more than about Evans but this is how changes come about

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 07/01/2015 11:44

To be honest I think natural justice will probably be served over many, many years as the Evans/Massey clan marinate in their own toxicity.

Yes, this. There is no way that a group as people as odious as this lot will live 'happily ever after'.

But in the short term I imagine that if Ched does turn out to be pretty good and starts scoring goals for Oldham, this whole thing will be forgotten about very quickly.

Is there a Mrs Massey in all this? I wonder what her view is?

To be honest I am starting to concoct all sorts of scenarios in my head as to why Karl Massey is supporting Evans in this way - I can't post them here as they would be outrageously libellous (!) but its just so baffling as to why he has been so over invested in this from the start, even if he doesn't ultimately end up financing the move to Oldham.

merrymouse · 07/01/2015 11:45

Can you imagine the fall out if this had been a 19 year old boy rather than a 19 year old girl?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 11:48

Merry, you would still have had people lining up to tell everyone that that boy was a slag, gay, loved it, was only shagging him because he was a football player and all the other shit.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 07/01/2015 11:49

Yes Freudian there is a article in the the Mail today abot how, if the 'mob' don't pipe down, Evans himself will become the 'victim'.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that signing a petition was the equivalent to harrassing someone so badly that they have had to change their identity five times because of genuine concerns for their safety Hmm

Poor Ched, such a victim.

ilovesooty · 07/01/2015 11:51

Massey is managing director of Cottrills of Wilmslow which took over Prestons of Bolton.

This is an interesting article which names Massey's involvement with a large number of other organisations. I'm surprised that some of them want to continue their association. Perhaps some tweeting to these organisations might be productive.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 07/01/2015 11:52

Actually I don't agree puffins - homophobia is rife in football. Ched would be ostracised as a ' rapist'.

Icimoi · 07/01/2015 11:55

Well, I was planning on going to Sports Direct to order some equipment for a team DS is involved with.

Not any more.

ilovesooty · 07/01/2015 12:00

Perhaps if people started to express their intention of boycotting any other company associated with Massey as named I'm that article I linked the seriousness of his involvement in the Evans affair would be highlighted? Would some of these companies like to comment on their opinion of this affair?

ilovesooty · 07/01/2015 12:02

Massey's clients include Carphone Warehouse, Tesco and Marks and Spencer and the Bank of Scotland refinanced his company. Information in above article from Manchester Evening News.

UsuallyLurking1 · 07/01/2015 12:03

Yawn, please do give in. The nonsense that cm 'makes a fortune handling oldhams affairs'

This is Oldham, not Man City, their annual legal bill (until clowns like hatchet started their campaign) was likely minimal

It's just a shame that the naive populous of this site and others takes the opinion of a blinkered blogger who chooses to ignore facts that don't suit her story over the considered response of a law firm speaks volumes

Email away, they won't give a dam, the decision has been made.

merrymouse · 07/01/2015 12:04

I agree that there would still be victim blaming, but I think CE derives his support from people who see him as a red blooded male doing what any lad would do given half a chance on a big night out.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 12:08

Oh hi, representative from CM.

Can you explain why, the considered response of a law firm speaks volumes was written in such poor English? And why your company has decided to back a convicted rapist in his quest to play professional football, while still supporting the constant and endless harassment of his victim?

iamtheeggman · 07/01/2015 12:14

CM Solicitors haven't "considered" anything. Their statement simply says that they will stay out of it, that they trust the board to make the right decision and that their sponsorship will continue regardless.

Which is spineless.

Rebecca2014 · 07/01/2015 12:15

Oh yes all us horrible feminist. It is men who have taken the word feminist and turned it into something disgusting and against them. I know lot girls who are embarrassed call themselves feminist as boys won't like them...puke.

Sorry in a down mood today. It is very hard to get a rape conviction in this country yet even if a man gets prosecuted, a lot of people will still believe it is the woman fault and she was asking for it.

Icimoi · 07/01/2015 12:16

Interesting that the poor English on CM's website is echoed in UsuallyLurking1's use of "populous" instead of "populace".

Vevvie · 07/01/2015 12:26

What a horrid lot they all are!
