To be signed tomorrow, apparently.

Idontseeanysontarans · 07/01/2015 10:28

I bet Lee Johnson won't hang around, he's not happy about this by all accounts and won't want to have this hanging round his neck.
I can't believe they would be so stupid as to actually sign him.

Mengog · 07/01/2015 10:31

They are banking on it not being a story on a months time. It probably won't be. The news moves on quickly these days.

Idontseeanysontarans · 07/01/2015 10:32

And if the bastard scores for them it''ll be 'we told you he would be good for the club' Angry

londonrach · 07/01/2015 10:37

Just a question here. If ce breaks his conditions and goes back to jail, appeal fails, they do something about that awful website or breaks up with his silly girlfriend and his fil to be pulls the money how will oldham manage if they lost all their sponsors?

Idontseeanysontarans · 07/01/2015 10:40

London I don't think they will. CE is a poisoned chalice, very few companies will want to be associated with him or the club that he plays for and OA have gone bump once for better reasons than this. I don't see them being rescued again.

Idontseeanysontarans · 07/01/2015 10:41

When I say better I mean less controversial. Didn't phrase that well sorry.

Sallyingforth · 07/01/2015 10:44

It will be interesting to watch from the sidelines when the WAG finally gets fed up with his screwing around and chucks him.
Will he then lose the FIL support and his job?
Will daddy buy her another rapist to cling to?
What a grubby, sordid little bunch of people. :(

merrymouse · 07/01/2015 10:49

The news will only move on if there is no more news.

To be honest I think natural justice will probably be served over many, many years as the Evans/Massey clan marinate in their own toxicity.

However that still leaves the rest of us and our children to live in a society with people who think the worst thing CE did was to cheat on his girlfriend.

Rebecca2014 · 07/01/2015 10:50

Well he has won. I am sure they are all very happy and football fans will be cheering him on.

londonrach · 07/01/2015 10:52

Thanks idontsee. He doesnt admit what he did is wrong so he do it again or someone else will come out of the woodwork. Cant believe how silly this club has been. The fil to be will pull the money when his daughter grows up and leaves ce. The club is signing its death warrent!

merrymouse · 07/01/2015 10:57

I think it's not so much that CE has won as that oldham, the place and the football club, have lost.

Icimoi · 07/01/2015 10:57

Of course, when he screws around again - and he inevitably will, because he will interpret all of this as indicating that what he did was absolutely fine - and the girlfriend gets tired of it and chucks him, it will not only be Evans who is left high and dry but also Oldham: there is no way FIL will carry on sponsoring them in that event.

I really hope that if there are previous victims - as I'm sure they are - they would find the courage to come forward now.

ilovesooty · 07/01/2015 11:05

It says Massey contrary to reports will not be financing this signing. I can't imagine why the club would be so stupid as to go ahead. Presumably Sports Direct and Mike Ashley will continue to sponsor the club.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/01/2015 11:13

Well, OAFC, the PFA and the Massey 'family' have proved that, as long as a 26 yr old toddler shuts his eyes, shouts 'lalalalala' and pretends it never happened for long enough, some dickheads will eventually come along and enable that behaviour.

AliceLidl · 07/01/2015 11:14

Clam Sorry, I hadn't realised you were just hypothesising about Sports Direct.

Idontseeanysontarans · 07/01/2015 11:17

Just been looking on the footymad forums (DH goes on there) and there's not much of a mention of this that I can find, even on the Latics Chat page. I think the site is fairly heavily moderated - at least the Clarets page used to be so maybe they're jumping on too many mentions of it. Quite a bit of relief on the Notts County page that he's not there though.
Local supporters are split between OA and Burnley round here, there's a lot of local disgust at Oldham right now, especially among younger fans.

askyfullofstars · 07/01/2015 11:17

I have been following these threads, though not actually contributing to them as I have nothing constructive to add that hasnt already been said. I despair, I really do, that he has been signed by OA.
Its a real "stop this train, I want to get off" moment.

House there are a lot of good players available but from a footballing point of view if CE recovers his form from before going to jail he would be easily Oldham's best player.

Natasha - do you really think he will remain faithful to you? Do you think you will grow old together? Do you really think he will stay loyal to you for 2 1/2 years? Havre you any idea of many other women he has screwed since you and he started dating?

When you need to pour it all out, when you're left devastated, when you realise how both your fiancé and your father have betrayed you, and you feel suicidal, MN will be here for you on the relationships board.

Someone please tell us the name of the chain of jewellery shops which Massey owns so we don't inadvertently buy from them.

spence82 · 07/01/2015 11:39

Maybe they will be viewed as the rapists but Oldham as a club are on a terrible run in the league. If he scored the goals to keep them up then I'm sure they will think its a worthwhile signing.
