The Justice for the 96 forums that I frequent have some very angry people on them now. Funnily enough they don't appreciate being compared to a convicted rapist.

At least we know where the pfa stand on this issue. Angry

TheOfficialPan · 08/01/2015 22:45

Gordon Taylor talked himself into an early exit from his job, as far as I read today's stuff.

VikingVolva · 08/01/2015 22:45

B'stard - do you think Taylor can survive a Liverpool backlash? A new head of PFA could be just what is needed now.

This wasn't CE's doing, but absolutely guarantees he'll never play in the Premier League (not that he was ever really that calibre).

YonicSleighdriver · 08/01/2015 22:47

I wonder if the "justice for 96" will get referred to as a mob or as white London feminists if GT ends up out on his ear for that comment.

AlanBstardMP · 08/01/2015 22:53

Well the first petition calling for GT to resign has already appeared:
www.change.org/p/for-gordon-taylor-of-the-fa-to-resign-over-his-hillsborough-comments-for-gordon-taylor-to-apologise-to-the-families-of-the-96-and-then-for-him-to-resign?recruiter=208410921&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_facebook_responsive&utm_term=mob-xs-share_petition-custom_msg&utm_content=rp_petition_fb_share_desc%3Acontrol

I'd say GT's job could easily go based on his comments. The JFT96 campaign has some power behind it (and rightly so) and not just in Liverpool. A bit of an own goal on his part. Disgraceful comments.

As any sane, reasonable person knows - the tragedy of 96 people losing their lives at a sports event and the subsequent cover up by the authorities in no way compares to the behaviour of a convicted and unrepentant rapist.

BOFster · 08/01/2015 22:53

Interesting point, Yonic.

TheOfficialPan · 08/01/2015 22:55

just heard GT's comments. Another candidate for our PR Company, which seems to be garnering business by the hour...

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 08/01/2015 22:56

CE should 'put something back into the community' before looking to pursue a football career.

Gosh, what an unfortunate turn of phrase from David Cameron there.....

As for the Gordon Taylor and the Hillsborough comparison, I have no words!

TheOfficialPan · 08/01/2015 23:00

signed the '96 petition.

timtam23 · 08/01/2015 23:09

Am so Shock at Gordon Taylor's latest comments!

I'm on another (closed) forum and there is a thread about CE on there, some of the views being expressed have made my jaw drop. There is significant support for Rod Liddle and the majority are questioning the conviction and saying it is unfair not to give CE a football job as he needs to be rehabilitated Hmm

have had to sign off on there as the overwhelming opinion was against me & it was too frustrating

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 08/01/2015 23:13

WTF! What is the matter with them all?!

They're so busy bending over backwards to excuse this rapist's behaviour, they've lost all reason. Hillsborough? Mandela? Mob rule?

It's like they've forgotten - he's the convicted criminal, his victim is the victim - and it was a baying mob that drove her from her home, her family, even her own name.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 08/01/2015 23:15

OMG - anyone watching QT? Shock Angry Confused Need a Brew

AliceinWinterWonderland · 08/01/2015 23:16

Dear god, panelist on question time said he didn't commit a crime, she wouldn't have convicted him on it, and if we go around convicting young men who have sex with women so drunk they won't remember it, our courts will be clogged up!!!

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 08/01/2015 23:17

It's like all the worst parts of this thread, only wearing a white jacket, and on telly.

David Davies said it well. And the woman in peach jacket.

AlanBstardMP · 08/01/2015 23:20

Deliberately not watching QT. I need to mind my blood pressure.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 08/01/2015 23:21

dear god, woman in white jacket needs to SHUT UP

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 23:22

I tend to find that people who say things like that have no clue about the facts of the case, apart from those posted on his GFs Daddy's hideous website.

When presented with real facts, as opposed to acid induced ramblings, most people agree that it was definitely rape. Those that don't tend to find facts difficult anyway.

MrsVamos · 08/01/2015 23:23

DH is watching QT.

Julia Hartley-Brewer is a disgrace.

Raging silently.

2rebecca · 08/01/2015 23:26

Hate rapists and believe Chad Evans is one, but also hate the mob lynching mentality Chad Evans seems to inspire.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 08/01/2015 23:30

The woman in the white jacket basically said "we can't make rape charges when the situation is he said/she said. The jury didn't believe her claims of rape by one of them, so obviously something is wrong there. I don't believe that she could give consent for one and not be able to give consent for the other man five minutes later. I would never have convicted him..."

then when someone called her on it and said "you don't respect the criminal justice system at all then.."

she said "of course I do..."

rage rage rage

PhaedraIsMyName · 08/01/2015 23:30

I lked Jimmy Wales' dismissal of all the hand wringing about the poor soul losing his job.

merrymouse · 08/01/2015 23:31

The emotional response is not a mob, it is a reaction to people who either know the facts and don't think he did anything wrong ( which puts us all at risk) or people who don't know the facts but make ill informed comments.

BOFster · 08/01/2015 23:31

He's inspired a lynch mob alright, with that website in his name funded by his prospective father-in-law.

I'm actually ok with the club seeming to pay some attention to a petition. Or pressure from sponsors or whatever. They are legitimate expressions of civil society.

mushypeasontoast · 08/01/2015 23:32

Oh. My. Goodness.

Qt, for supposedly intelligent people some are coming across as incredibly stupid. Looking at Julia.

Disgusting.

For what its worth I think CE statement today was arse covering at best. Actions speak louder than words and his are appalling.

GT should be replaced.

Deux · 08/01/2015 23:32

Julia Hartley Brewer is ill informed. I'm staggered she said what she did. She actually used the word 'illogical' that CM was acquitted and CE not.

I'm stuck for words. It's beyond belief.
