Jazz, it is true that CMcoukd possibly have been charged with conspiracy to rape, as his actions contributed to CE's rape of the victim.

The CPS need to consider in each case which charges are best applied and the decision in this instance was that there was a reasonable chance of securing a conviction of CM for rape on his own account.

HTH.

YonicSleighdriver · 08/01/2015 07:10

House, think it would be better to talk about "conspiring in" or "contributing to" her rape by CE than about pimping.

Steben · 08/01/2015 07:34

These witch hunt against CE claims are ridiculous - this is a legitimate protest against a rapist returning to a high profile role in football and the message that sends. It is utterly wrong.

As is the ACTUAL WITCHHUNT against his victim is what is truly disgusting. A hate campaign funded by a rich and powerful man whose motives are still utterly baffling to me.

And hopefully for the FINAL TIME he has not served his time, he is half way through a sentence for which he has shown no remorse.

Um, not sure. I can see why they didn't pursue a conspiracy to rape charge, CM would've immediately become surprised to see CE, claimed all sorts of other motivations for sending the text etc and proof beyond reasonable don't would've been hard.

Bbc breakfast have just discussed this. Lots of talk about how he has served his time, no mention of being on license and they skated over how he has behaved towards his victim.

Disgraceful reporting.

I've signed this petition and feel very strongly that OA should not be re-signing a convicted rapist, in the same way that many others would not be able to return to their original profession after such a conviction, and would need to look for employment elsewhere.

I resent in the STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS that I am in any way part of "a mob" or "witch-hunt." I have expressed my view, which is my democratic right. If I waited outside CE's house and threw rotten eggs at him when he was coming in and out, then perhaps the rape apologists might have a point. But my principles are valid and I would like them heard, albeit quietly and rationally.

merrymouse · 08/01/2015 08:59

I suppose if people can't understand the concept of rape, it's not surprising if they have trouble defining a witch hunt, let alone things like 'on licence', 'rehabilitated' and the appeals process.

Steben · 08/01/2015 09:46

Well said Clam.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 10:02

Enjoying myself?

Jazz, you came onto this thread, posted something really quite rude, ignorant of the facts and ridiculous, I'm sorry you don't know the facts of the case, a lot of people seem not to. I have not insulted you, I pointed you in the direction of the facts you're ignorant of.

If constant rape threats, death threats and other abuse is 'fun', then yes, I am enjoying myself immensely.

If supporting a rape victim hounded, harassed, threatened and stalked by people who think that the ability to kick a football about is worth more than women's bodily autonomy is me being on my high horse. Or that using my legal right to protest is, then get me the tallest mounting block in the land and saddle up.

The only "witch hunt" being undertaken with regards to the whole Evans clusterfuck, is being done by his family, friends and fans toward his victim. Him being able to play football again is only going to make her life worse. This is why I and several other people are protesting his ability to play professional football while he is still unrepentant, on licence and involved in hounding his victim.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 08/01/2015 10:16

Whether or not he is personally involved in hounding his victim, whether or not he considers himself guilty - a responsible adult would step up and say "look, let this be decided in a court of law... leave her alone... this is not acceptable behaviour towards her."

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 10:38

Absolutely, and it is something positive he could do, without admitting any level of guilt. He could even ask the FiL who is stumping up the money for him to be allowed to play to take down his repulsive website, without admitting guilt.

So many things he could do to show he's a human being, and on the road to rehabilitation which he seems unwilling to do, and yet, we're supposed to believe that he is being rehabilitated?

www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-health/11330571/Reason-plays-no-part-in-the-Ched-Evans-saga.html

Allison Pearson continuing to miss the point spectacularly - the rapist who fled she mentions was hardly about to enter into a high profile job where he is seen as a model was he!?

Steben · 08/01/2015 11:19

Role model that should read

EveDallasRetd · 08/01/2015 11:20

BREAKING NEWS

Reported by sky. Oldham deal off.

BOFster · 08/01/2015 11:23

Thank fuck for that! Brilliant news, I'm so relieved!

iseenodust · 08/01/2015 11:25

Good.

Icimoi · 08/01/2015 11:27

I really hope that's correct, but the Sky website doesn't give any sources so I'm reserving celebrations for now - there have been so many twists and turns in this saga.

highriggs · 08/01/2015 11:28

Good

EveDallasRetd · 08/01/2015 11:28

Being reported by Ch4 now as well

yolofish · 08/01/2015 11:35

Anyone waatching This Morning? Football agent Eric Hall is totally revolting.

Signed, btw.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 08/01/2015 11:35

I wonder if he'll try a lower league club. Like my local club. Eeek.

WeirdCatLady · 08/01/2015 11:37

I'm cautiously pleased. Sky say it is because of a major sponsor pulling out.
So still not because of it being the right thing to do. I do hope it is true.
