The only information on Sky is that a major sponsor threatened to withdraw funds. Let's hope it's true, but we have to bear in mind Massey's alleged promise to make good on that sort of financial loss.

EveDallasRetd · 08/01/2015 11:46

An O2 partner pulled out this morning (reported by O2) Maybe Massey couldn't match that.

GoringBit · 08/01/2015 11:46

I saw Eric Hall being interviewed by Emily Maitless. The man is an idiot.

GoringBit · 08/01/2015 11:48

Surely every club in the country must now see that the convicted rapist Ched Evans is toxic and that to have an association with him will be to risk financial disaster.

EveDallasRetd · 08/01/2015 11:49

I've posted on here before about my horrible experience waitressing at the a Chelt Gold Cup when I was a teen. Eric Hall was one of the men that gave me grief. He is a disgusting excuse for a man (but was v scared of my brother).

meditrina · 08/01/2015 11:51

Eve where did O2 announce that?

(I didn't surface it by Google)

Icimoi · 08/01/2015 11:53

It is reported that it was the Zen Office decision that led to the decision to withdraw. But I'm puzzled about that, because they said that yesterday, so it's nothing new; also Sky refers to them as the club's main sponsor, but I thought that was Sports Direct?

BOFster · 08/01/2015 11:53

ZenOffice were going to pull the plug. Who are they, and how can I buy their stuff? Wink

BOFster · 08/01/2015 11:55

Verlin will definitely be doing my guttering...

meditrina · 08/01/2015 11:57

SKY said that Zen have their name all over the stands. Sports Direct are current shirt sponsors, I think.

Meditrina, was on Twitter. Will try to find it.

morethanpotatoprints · 08/01/2015 11:59

So funny all this interest in Oldham, that most of you hadn't heard of before this.
I bet there directors are loving the attention.

wanttosqueezeyou · 08/01/2015 12:00

Did anyone just hear that!!!

Deal is off! (according to Radio 5)

EveDallasRetd · 08/01/2015 12:01

I can't link to the tweet for some reason Meditrina, but the text was

@o2businessuk: @blefuscu74 Our franchise partner MID Communications who has an O2 branded room at OAFC, will end agreements should Ched Evans join the club

meditrina · 08/01/2015 12:03

Thanks!

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 12:04

Maybe now is the time for the FA to take a stand and align it's rules for players with those it has for owners, whereby no sex offender is deemed a 'fit person'.

There really shouldn't be any room in professional sport, but most especially our 'national' sport for people who have been convicted of serious and violent offences.

Jux · 08/01/2015 12:04

BBC 24 news are saying it is also due to threats to staff and their families. Anyone know anything about that? What threats? Who are they made by?

It is disgusting, whatever.

I am very glad that Oldham aren't signing him.

Icimoi · 08/01/2015 12:04

I doubt it, potatoprints. How would any of this attention translate into any advantage for Oldham?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 12:05

There seems to be a report from one of the board members that, as well as sponsors pulling out, there have been threats to staff and families. Who the hell has been threatening staff and families of Oldham Athletic? Disgusting behaviour.

WeirdCatLady · 08/01/2015 12:06

Bbc news channel reporting it is due to 'enormous pressure from sponsors'

Good news. Kudos to zenoffice for making a stand.

wanttosqueezeyou · 08/01/2015 12:06

morethan not sure why the interest is funny. But actually the interest is in the rapist Ched Evans and would have followed any club that signed him. It appears they aren't enjoying the interest anyway as they've decided not to sign him.

meditrina · 08/01/2015 12:06

This is what they mean by 'having the name all over the stand' btw

to post a link to an Oldham sponsor that will continue to support them even with Ched Evans?
MadameJulienBaptiste · 08/01/2015 12:07

Good. Because I have learned such a lot from all of you on this thread and was bracing myself for a row with my boss this afternoon. He runs a sideline business which is football related and was about to place his regular large order with sports direct later today.

If the deal is off then he can go ahead and order I guess.
