Actually I don't believe I am being unreasonable. But wanted to bring it to attention.

MN seems to be a quiet on this today but I think the fight should still go on. I can't link to it as I am so not tech savvy enough but it is on change.org. (Same person whk set up the Sheffield Weds one so of you sogned that one it is pretty easy to locate).Already has over 9000 signatures so please please please continue to sign and share!

< Fairy , loving the Queen II nickname..currently on my car audio>

PetulaGordino · 04/01/2015 22:55

Fuctifino what was he convicted of? Was it a violent crime?

Skinidin · 04/01/2015 22:55

Signed!

PetulaGordino · 04/01/2015 22:57

I agree that second chances very much depend on how the individual handles rehabilitation and subsequent behaviouR

clam · 04/01/2015 22:57

fuctifino. It depends on a few things. What was the crime? Had he finished (completely) his sentence? Had he expressed remorse for the crime and undergone rehabilitation? Did the job involve working with young or impressionable people, and would it have led to him being lauded and hero-worshipped by many, with massive monetary rewards that would elevate his status and possibly dupe others into believing his own hype?

Jux · 04/01/2015 23:01

Fuctifino, was your colleague imprisoned for rape? Was his job one where he would be a role model to young and impressionable people? Was he likely to find himself in situations where he could repeat his crime any number of times?

Yes, every one deserves a second chance, but not necessarily with no restrictions at all. As said many times, no rapist or sex offender would be able to return to teaching, for instance. Or do you think they should be allowed to?

fuctifino · 04/01/2015 23:06

I'm not sure (technically) what he was charged with ....attempted manslaughter/murder or a lesser GBH/ABH. He stabbed somebody, they lost a kidney. It wasn't a complete spur of the moment thing, it was somewhat pre-meditated.
Did he do the full term? No
Did he work with young people? Yes (18-22 on average)
Was he hero worshipped? Probably not but he was a very clever guy whose knowledge and expertise was respected.

fuctifino · 04/01/2015 23:07

Ched Evans isn't a teacher, I think that question Jux is a moot point.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 04/01/2015 23:11

fuctofino did he acknowledge his crime? Did he show remorse? Or did he get his family and friends to hound his victim to the extent they had to change their identity several times and move away from their family?

clam · 04/01/2015 23:12

The reference to teachers stems, I think, from the number of people (on here and elsewhere) who are saying that CE should be allowed to go back to his profession "as he has done his time," as if that is all that counts. Teachers, however, along with other professions, would never be allowed back into the classroom after such a conviction. Why should it be any different for Evans?

TheOfficialPan · 04/01/2015 23:12

That's an intriguing set of circs. fuctifino - a pre-mediated stabbing and he swiftly returns to working with young people in the same organisation. Sounds highly improbable and dubious from the details provided, unless it was with a private/vol. sector firm?

forumdonkey · 04/01/2015 23:13

CE is a role model for many impressionable young men and also in the public eye with a high profile. Again I would ask how many people think it appropriate the likes of Rolf Harris etc to resume their public profile and career? What's the difference between him and CE or do you think Rolf should take up his TV career once he is released?

flyingmonks · 04/01/2015 23:13

signed
is anyone meeting outside the club tomorrow?

Spanglecrab · 04/01/2015 23:13

I'm a football supporter and a season ticket holder of many years. If the rapist Ched Evans were signed by the club I support I would never attend a game again. The people making the decisions at Oldham FC clearly don't think that rape us that big a deal.

Assuming that they go on to sign the rapist Ched Evans I would be forced to believe that club partners Optima Cars do not think that rape is a big deal.

I would guess that The directors of Zen Office see no problem with lying to procure a room key before penetrating a comatose girl without seeking consent.

Perhaps Kia and O2 think that standing at a window attempting to film somebody being raped is a normal way to finish a night out?

notmyproblem · 04/01/2015 23:17

It makes me wonder if they had done this kind of thing before

He will almost certainly have done this before, and likely several times. He will also have mates who do the same, and mates who know what he's up to but excuse it as "not really rape" because of his profile as a professional football player and attraction to vulnerable women, so it's not "rape rape" to them i.e., stranger rape. Ched's just a guy who likes to chase birds who are too drunk to say no, is how they will justify his behaviour.

I'm actually a bit surprised that other women haven't come forward (like with the Savile and other recent cases) to say they have been his victim, but given the way this victim is being harassed, they are probably staying silent for their own safety. Sad Give it 10 years and they might eventually come forward.

The majority of rapists are serial. Have a read for some eye-opening stats:

And actually, Evans is even more dangerous, because he appears to genuinely believe that he didn't do anything wrong.

Surely he must be getting the message by now?

YonicSleighdriver · 04/01/2015 23:25

Hello again fuct. I seem to recall you from a previous Ched thread.

LineRunner · 04/01/2015 23:26

18,800 and rising.

Jux · 04/01/2015 23:28

Fuctifino, what clam said about teachers. i'm sure you didn't really need that to be explained to you, but hey.

clam · 04/01/2015 23:36

If they go ahead with this deal, then I suspect it will create even more fury, that they've had the arrogance to assume that the general public's view doesn't matter. I reckon then their sponsors will be targeted and they're going to end up with egg on their faces. At least, they will if there's any justice.

lem73 · 04/01/2015 23:37

Signed it. When will he get f@£ng message?

ihavenonameonhere · 04/01/2015 23:38

If he signs I think we all need to ring the club and tell them our feelings. Not nasty but just tell them how you disagree. Imagine 1000 phone calls

Jux · 04/01/2015 23:39

Oh is fuct a friend of the rapist Ched Evans' then, Yonic?

elfycat · 04/01/2015 23:41

Sports direct already has a negative tweet being retweeted. Wouldn't it be nice for their board to be discussing this issue at 0901hrs tomorrow?

YonicSleighdriver · 04/01/2015 23:42

Perhaps not a friend of Minnie's nature, but I believe she thinks along the lines of nobody coming out of the night well...
