just sitting in car

I live in a very remote spot just my house and fields - there's a small car park adjacent to my back garden. For the past 3 weeks a man has parked up and sat in his car from 10am until 5 ish. Engine not running - no lights when it's dark.

He literally just sits everyday including weekends. Don't think he's doing anything dodgey but just think it's really peculiar.

Aibu to ask if he's ok or should I just mind my own business?

If I realised that I was worrying someone, I would move to a different spot. I am more creeped out than at the beginning of the thread.

Coumarin · 04/01/2015 12:24

The comment about seeing more of him over the next few weeks is strange isn't it? That'd be puzzling me.

Glad he seems ok but it's still very unusual behaviour. Not sure I'd feel reassured by the police findings. Possibly makes it stranger knowing he has a warm, lit house to go to.

fluffyraggies · 04/01/2015 12:34

But is it a warm lit house? Maybe he's broke, lonely, behind with all his bills and finds life shrunken down into just the confines of his car easier to cope with?

I wonder, is he there again today OP?

I recon he'll probably move elsewhere.

Reekypear · 04/01/2015 12:36

Go out and tell him can he move on, you feel he is encroaching on your privacy, being so near the kitchen. It is odd behaviour, not normal, and someone who was sensible of their actions would realise this.

Don't listen to the bleeding hearts on here, poet and writer my arse. He's a pain in the arse.

shggg245 · 04/01/2015 13:44

We'll he's not turned up yet - Tbh I've wasted enough of energy on this - my problem I know, but it has worried me mainly out of concern for his welfare so I'll be glad if that's it.

Agree with those who still think it's odd, but as my old Grandad used to say in his broad Yorkshire accent 'there's nowt as queer as folk!'

OP posts:
RandomNPC · 04/01/2015 13:48

OP, you've done all you can. He's had several opportunities to talk to people who have enquired about his wellbeing.

christmaspies · 04/01/2015 13:58

How can it be comfortable sitting in a car all day. Is he running the engine? If not how is he keeping warm?

hagarthorne · 04/01/2015 15:41

Whatever he told the police, his behaviour is unusual, I wouldn't put the vicar off if I were you. And if he's coming for a few words with you I wouldn't let him in the house. People who entirely dismiss the effects of their actions on other people are not living in the real world. I hope you don't see him again.

YouTheCat · 04/01/2015 15:44

As he's put a time limit on this (he did say he'd be around for a few more weeks) I'd put bets on that he has terrible in laws visiting and is hiding.

SoDiana · 04/01/2015 16:14

Odd one. Plus it is driving my nosiness into orbit. I'd suggest that maybe he could be an artist or writer or something? That, or perhaps he is recovering from alcoholism or drug addiction or something and needs to get away.
So strange though.

ImFineThankYouSusan · 06/01/2015 06:02

Has he been back, OP?

TheNewStatesman · 06/01/2015 08:40

So, he has a house? If he wants to sit in a car all day, he needs to find ways to do this that don't involve hanging around a remote area creating an uncomfortable situation for people, esp. women, who are alone at home.

I mean, think about it--imagine if you were in a relationship with a guy and you broke up and he did this? I think you would have a case for describing it as stalking in such circumstances. Because it is weird and will make any normal person feel uncomfortable. I don't think this is actually stalking, but it seems inappropriate, esp as people have been trying to help him out.

Nottinghill1 · 06/01/2015 17:39

Any news op?
