We were supoose to get paid yesterday, were given a load of excuses by the account eg "I only process on a Monday now payment will be after". Today there is still no payment in my account. I have no gas, no food and need to get the last of my Christmas shopping.

It's not base transfer, we've had issues before where she hasn't paid until the Thursday (fortnightly pay on a monday). I've emailed and text my boss but no reply. Aibu to feel angry and let down, I work so hard, cover when I can etc.

Glad you got some at least. So check your tax code hen go from there. Flowers

SuggestmeaUsername · 23/12/2014 14:35

Yes that is tough but hopefully it will be easier from now on.

I work in Payroll and understand the many things that can go wrong with processing people's pay. There can often be genuine errors made by payroll staff or by others involved in the process. Often I would be given a timesheet by a dept with wrong hours or the dept would neglect to send the timesheet at all. Therefore the first I would know there was something wrong was when the employee phoned up shouting down the line.

We would never miss a pay date though. that was never an option. If someone hadnt been paid for some reason though, we would arrange a "advance payment" but would generally take off 32% for tax and NI

back from the hell that is tesco! Dp has presents.Grin Have asked to speak to my boss tomorrow about the pay shortage and he agrees it's not right. So ill go from there I guess. hopeful to get it all resolved but all these slight mess ups make me concerned

Glad you've been paid something. I hope you get the rest soon.

ToomanyChristmasPresents · 23/12/2014 17:30

Yes, I think you should be concerned and watching closely. Is this a big company or a smaller business? Is there any worry that this is a company on the edge struggling to make its payroll?

Starlightbright1 · 23/12/2014 18:56

Glad you got at least something and hope this is sorted out tomorrow.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/12/2014 19:36

OP I know this is a shame as you like the place, but can I suggest you get out of there asap after Christmas? You said it's a new business and believe me I've seen this kind of thing happen too often ... if you're not careful and they fold, you could soon find yourself working for a fortnight without any money at all at the end of it

If the money didn't matter much to you I wouldn't be saying this - but it does, so I am Wink

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 19:41

I'm worried to now. As my pay was so short. have arranged meetings with the owned and my boss but for now there are token gifts under my Christmas tree, bills paid and Christmas sorted. I guess I have to bite the bullet and realise this business is falling apart.

Are you certain your tax code is correct ? What is on your payslip ?

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 19:57

That's the first thing I'm checking when I get in tomorrow.

Glad you got some money through but they sound a total shambles.

I would get job hunting in the new year for something better.

nuts2you · 23/12/2014 20:07

Good luck for tomorrow OP.

Glad you got some money but this does sound as if the business is going under.
Staff should be paid on time no matter what.

Boysandme · 24/12/2014 10:52

Have you met with boss and owner yet?

nuts2you · 27/12/2014 20:33

OP posts:
Chippednailvarnish · 30/12/2014 15:21

For what reason?

NiceAcorns · 30/12/2014 15:29

Did they give a reason?

msgrinch · 30/12/2014 15:30

there isn't much of a reason really. Just said it's not working out (wanky creep manager). have emailed the owner. Livid is an understatement.

mumof6needssanity · 30/12/2014 15:30

Wow wasn't expecting that!

Are you ok?
What reason did they give?

mumof6needssanity · 30/12/2014 15:31

Cross post
What about the wages they owe you?

msgrinch · 30/12/2014 15:32

I've added that to the email. I don't think the owner knows he's done this. He said the other staff did but they have no idea as I've just had phone calls off all of them asking why I left!!
