We were supoose to get paid yesterday, were given a load of excuses by the account eg "I only process on a Monday now payment will be after". Today there is still no payment in my account. I have no gas, no food and need to get the last of my Christmas shopping.

It's not base transfer, we've had issues before where she hasn't paid until the Thursday (fortnightly pay on a monday). I've emailed and text my boss but no reply. Aibu to feel angry and let down, I work so hard, cover when I can etc.

How crap.

If you decide to continue working there I would plan your finances on the basis of getting your pay fortnightly on the Wednesday-Thursday rather than the Monday as otherwise every fortnight you'll have massive stress each fortnight.

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 12:30

Yes. Sadly my last wages were spent on general living expense, rent, childcare, grinchcats food. oh and I got my eyebrows done.

OP posts:
oswellkettleblack · 23/12/2014 12:34

That is awful! I hope it goes through.

oswellkettleblack · 23/12/2014 12:36

Oh, no, someone will be around to scold you for buying wine and having eyebrows done. Poor people on MN can't be dong that. Or complain. They have to be grateful.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 23/12/2014 12:37

This is awful. I hope they are telling the truth and you get your money today. Tomorrow is a normal bank day so you could push for payment for then if it doesn't come through. What a bunch of cocks!

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 12:38

I know bad me. Though the prosecco was a gift from dps dm to cheer me up and my eye brows, well no excuses for that one. I'm waiting to be told I shouldn't have grinchcat as i can't afford her. Grin

OP posts:
insancerre · 23/12/2014 12:44

Op could you have not budgeted better and not spent all that money on getting your eyebrows done?
Surely it would have made more sense and kept the holier than thou posters happy if you had got just the one done each pay day?
How extravagant of you to get 2 done at the same time
Seriously, hope you get paid today. Your boss is being an arse
Do you know where he lives?
I'd be tempted to go round and ask for the cash

GeraldineFangedVagine · 23/12/2014 12:46

Could you try and sell the eyebrow bits to a wig maker to recoup some of the money you spent so wantonly?

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 12:47

Pahahaha I should definitely be more careful and embrace looking like this every fortnight Hmm .

He's in the shop at the moment, after a few more proseccos if the money isn't there at 2 pm who knows! I may end up spectacularly shaming myself.

OP posts:
msgrinch · 23/12/2014 12:48

They're at at eyebrow bar Sad I don't think I can get them back. could shave grinchcat and sell her fur as eyebrow wigs.

looks slyly at grinchcat

Some of you are mistaken about faster payments. The 24 hour clearance is only if faster payments are available at the bank. At busy times this service can get full or is not available which means it will have to be done on a regular transfer.

Kerberos · 23/12/2014 12:55

YANBU. Hope the money comes through today for you.

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 12:55

namechange would that mean if the payment was sent at 11 am yesterday and my banks clearing is 2 pm today. It shoul go in then (around 24 hours)

OP posts:
Namechangeyetagaintohide · 23/12/2014 12:58

I'm not 100% on that. Usually faster payments is a couple of hours but if not available it would be 24 hours. I'm just not sure re your banks clearing times but I would have thought so. Unless someone is telling porkies !

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 13:00

Thanks for torr advice. It would fit with the last payments and my bank times. yes he lies a lot so we will see. oh I hope so. Means I can dash to tesco and get dp some little token gifts now we've made up (which trust me is all that mattered to me) Grin

OP posts:
msgrinch · 23/12/2014 13:01

torr* the. I'm only on the first glass I promise!

OP posts:
Namechangeyetagaintohide · 23/12/2014 13:01

Fingers crossed.
It's not your employers fault if the faster payment system is unavailable BUT they really should have transferred it sooner to be sure.

prettywhiteguitar · 23/12/2014 13:03

That fact he called you sweetie would make me instantly start looking for another job ....! Blurghhh

I have a few customers like this and you just have to totally be on their back about paying. When you have found another job I would just hand in your resignation stating that inconsistent pay dates caused financial stress.

And manager was a creep !

Hope you get paid today Xmas Smile

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 13:04

I have said in my text back that I do understand that it's a busy time of year but in future they should pay on a Thursday/ Friday to insure we have our wages at some point on the Monday. As the only full time employee (and the older one) I get the messages from the part time college staff, they don't find the boss approachable.

OP posts:
msgrinch · 23/12/2014 13:06

creep is an understatement but at the moment I need the money and I think the owner is in the process of finding a new manager. I am looking for something else but since coming back into employment I took the first thing I could find. I love the place, it's great but there's so many niggles.

OP posts:
Wonc · 23/12/2014 13:09

Any news? Fingers crossed for you.

Wonc · 23/12/2014 13:10

Oh sorry. I'm in a different time zone. I see it's not 2pm yet.

msgrinch · 23/12/2014 13:11

I'm on the hour countdown to the banks 2.05 clearing time. Grinchcat is by my side at this stressful time. Bank text as soon as money goes in my account and my shoes are ready for the dash to tesco. This is really qui stressful.

Another one hoping you get it sorted out mrsgrinch. I once worked for an employer who pretty much paid when they felt like it. Often we'd go nearly six weeks without being paid. It was a joke. Eventually ended up having to take them to a tribunal over an unrelated matter and not long after they went bust. Probably because they continued to take the piss out of people. Fingers crossed for you.
