..to think that if you've written the Christmas card you don't need to sign it from your DH/P first?

I've noticed this over the last few years - women who I know have written all the family/friends Christmas cards and yet who sign it from Bob, Jane, little Bob, Little Jane.

Why not put yourself first? You wrote the thing. Surely men don't need precedence in card signing? Or perhaps everyone I know writes in age order and it's simply a coincidence that all the DH/Ps are older Hmm

I am thinking of starting a thread on the miseries of Christmas taken from MN - there is plenty of scope!
Perhaps we could move on to who signs with 'love from' and gets upset if someone just writes 'from'!

OP... you say ^whenever I open a Christmas card written by well educated, career/family women who put their husbands first in the pecking order.
I just don't get it at all.^

There's nothing to get. Nothing whatsoever. Someone HAS to come first and your post could say "whenever I open a christmas card written by well educated career/family men who put their wives firsst in the pecking order, I just don't get it at all."

My DH's name goes first in all christmas cards. Not because I take second place or bow to his superiority. It's names that sound right in that order. Like saying 'salt 'n pepper'. Pepper 'n salt doesn't quite cut it for me. I think you are reading far too much into it.

Oh aye cos there will be some who will get frightfully distressed about it.

And what of the the lowlifes who just sign a card with 'such and such'? surely there much be a special place in hell for them!

I just write 'seasons greetings from all at (insert house number) shall I expect to go to hell?Wink

As some others have said I sign he cards depending on who it's going to.

His family. His name first
My family. My name

His work colleagues. His name first
My work colleagues My name only
My friends my name only unless he knows them well.

Before anyone askes why I'm writing cards for him it's because he does all the wrapping.
