Exp gave DS his Xmas card (1st Xmas since split) DS is 3 - and it doesn't even say son on it!

To be fair technically mine doesn't either it's one from moon pig with his name & photo on it.

I know it's a really minor thing but it annoys me!

Some people wouldnt be bothered but I would be a little bit. Is it just a card out of a pack?

Since when was giving 3 year olds a Christmas card a 'thing'?

I think I'm getting old.

I think you need to find bigger things to get annoyed about...

Do Christmas cards say 'son'?

Thought that was a birthday thing.

Who on earth gives their children Christmas cards, let alone personalised ones? Confused

I think you're massively overthinking this.

I've never sent my children cards, am I supposed to?

His card doesn't have the word 'son' on it? Have I got that right (surely I can't have...?)

It would not bother me in the slightest. My family have never given each other 'named' cards, just a normal Christmas card - if we're feeling generous!

This is a bit of a non issue. Who gives their three year old child a Christmas card?!

Report
Mousefinkle · 11/12/2014 22:06

Another one who doesn't give their children Christmas cards. Presents galore! Cards seem so utterly pointless. You're overthinking it, hugely.

Huh? DD doesn't get a Christmas card and if she did, it wouldn't say Daughter on it. Is this a thing?

Report

Not a tradition in our family to do named Christmas cards and I don't give them to our kids. You are being silly on this one sorry!

Report
WD41 · 11/12/2014 22:06

Yep the strange thing here isn't the lack of son on the card, it's parents giving their 3yo a Xmas card in the first place

quirkycutekitch · 11/12/2014 22:09

Looks like it's just me & you TheReluctantCountess Grin not one out of a pack.

We've always done 'family' cards mum, dad, nan, grandad etc.

I've never sent cards to my children or given anyone a card with how they are related to me written on it.

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 11/12/2014 22:12

Yes, it would bother me.

I am in my 40's and have always had a Christmas card from my parents, all of my family and friends do the same. According to many on MN it's chavy but we buy mum/daughter/Aunty cards. I don't care what MN think, we like it...right from the dole budging gits to the high court judge Xmas Grin

However, he's your ex for a reason, he's going to constantly remind you why that is so... You are going to have to do a Frozen...Let It Go. Really, save your upset and anger for when it really matters, otherwise you're going to end up in a right state and it won't change anything.

I hope you and DS have a lovely Christmas Xmas Smile

I hate those son, nan, wife, auntie, mum cards personally.
Can he even read at 3?

Yabu.

Thanks chipping I was starting to wonder why all the card shops bothered putting all those cards on their shelves if no one else was buying them!

I find the obsession with finding a card with the right name on it odd, tbh. Just find a nice, special card for people that you think they will like. You write their name on it, hence negating the need for the pre-printed card to indicate who it's to.

Honestly, you are going to spend a lot of time annoyed with your ex if something this tiny gets you ranting Smile

Who gives their own kids a Christmas card? And what's more - on the 11th?!

Just...what?
