Exp gave DS his Xmas card (1st Xmas since split) DS is 3 - and it doesn't even say son on it!

To be fair technically mine doesn't either it's one from moon pig with his name & photo on it.

I know it's a really minor thing but it annoys me!

I say this carefully but I am getting the impression that you might be have unrealistic rather high expectations from your cards, quirky.

Not only do we not do Christmas cards to immediate family, let alone gone out searching for the complicated prescribed set we'd require - 2 x sons, 2 x stepsons and 1 x stepdaughter for me plus 2 ddil and 2 dgds - but we've never considered addressing one to an unborn child either.

The idea that a 3 year old would get a Christmas card from a parent just comes across as bonkers.

So in this respect, YABU. There must be something worth really getting bothered about. It is the season to be aggravated after all!

No quirky the question mark is regarding the name of your unborn son!

Chillax a little

Probably not quirky, or you'd see them starting threads specifically so people could moan about them Wink

Haha yes I think high expectations is one of my many floors!

I didn't think it would matter to most people - as my title suggests!

Sorry, OP, but your approach smacks of "put something visible up that tells shows other people - i.e. adults, because how many 3 year olds can read it or care - what a great human being I am.

I have never sent my children a christmas card. I am a good mother, and my children know I love them. They don't need me to waste £3.99 in Clintons getting something to 'prove' it to them.

And your entire OP just PROVES that it's not for the child's benefit, but a yardstick by which to 'measure' other people's parenting.

Jeez - look at yourself. Look at your OP - look at what you are saying about your own child's father. Equating love or caring with some random made up bollocks you have to buy in a stationery shop.

Fair enough Grin Did you keep your annoyance about it to yourself or did you say anything to your ex?

Quirky consider yourself lucky...my ex once bought be a 'Valentine's day' card with a picture of a pot noodle on the front and wrote fuck all in it. I don't even do cards (other than for DM who loves to receive them) but was particularly affronted by that one.

Of course I haven't said anything to exp - I don't equate it to how much he loves him! Hmm

I'm guessing that High Expectations is on the same floor as Gent's Outfitting, maybe?

I suppose it's because I've always had daughter ones & parents who are together & it's the 1st Xmas we are apart & he hasn't got a son one off his dad and it makes me sad.

Is it a different spelling of floor for shortcoming? Flore? Floure?

I'd say:-
Ground floor:
Perfumery, stationery, and leather goods, wigs and haberdashery, kitchenware and food.
Going up!!

My family send parent/sister/grandparent/son cards to each other and always given on the 1st December. Not everyone does it though so you can't be annoyed it didn't just say son. Maybe all the son ones where shit and that one was the nicest?

But if having a son card was so important why didn't you get one for him? I know your's was personalised, so if your ex had also gotten a personalised card that didn't say son on it either would you still be upset?

Report
quirkycutekitch · 11/12/2014 23:31

If he's got him a personalised one that would have been very thoughtful of him!

So it's not really about whether or not it said son on it so much as it's the level of care and thought you perceive to have gone into selecting the card?

Report
teenagetantrums · 11/12/2014 23:39

never gave my kids card when they were that young, they get them now, just because they want money for christmas for the sales , what 3 year old wants a card?

Yes you've hit the nail on the head there tiger

I'm probably projecting my feelings of him not giving a shit about me (an therefore leaving me) into it a bit! Grin
