Tinsel or baubles first?

This question has nearly ended my marriage today. Personally I think it's completely obvious. So AIBU to say OF COURSE you put the tinsel on first. Otherwise it obscures the baubles. Silly man.

I'm on your DH's side.

Lights, then baubles, then tinsel if you absolutely must

Trickydecision · 07/12/2014 21:12

I would like to see photos of your tree, Champagne, decorated both ways, i.e. tinsel first, then last. We could then tell you which is better and you could either start all over again or stick with the second version depending on the verdict. Not too much to ask is it? Important issue here that needs resolving.

Laloue23 · 07/12/2014 21:15

Lights, tinsel, baubles, icicles, crackers. Then take it all off tomorrow night after a glass or two of wine and start again...

MerryInthechelseahotel · 07/12/2014 21:16

Tinsel is good off the tree but not on imvho

Trickydecision · 07/12/2014 21:16

We don't have tinsel ourselves, Champagne'we do have strings of silver beads artfully arranged in loops and definitely put on last.

CakeAndWineAreAFoodGroup · 07/12/2014 21:18

Lights Tinsel Baubles.

Choccie decorations go on 5 seconds before eating last

scarletforya · 07/12/2014 21:24

No tinsel!

It's horrible.

SwingingBalls · 07/12/2014 21:27

Tinsel is shit but if you must use it, the order is lights, baubles and finally tinsel.

MehsMum · 07/12/2014 21:28

Lights tinsel baubles. Any other sequence is just WRONG.
We also have a large array of assorted animals.

wheresthelight · 07/12/2014 21:31

lights
tinsel

anything else is just crazy

BeyondRepair · 07/12/2014 21:35

Starlightbright1 · 07/12/2014 21:35

FrauHelgaMissMarpleandaChuckle · 07/12/2014 21:36

Problem solved. Grin

BeyondRepair · 07/12/2014 21:36

Tinsel tinsel tinsel.....

Tobyjugg · 07/12/2014 21:36

I'm on DH's side. Lights, baubles and then tinsel draped over them. Maybe its gender related?

OttiliaVonBCup · 07/12/2014 21:39

Baubles, tinsel, lights.
BTL.

EpitomeOfFrump · 07/12/2014 21:39

Lights, baubles, tinsel. The tinsel can be used to hide any gaps were I messed up the lights or baubles (or scoffed the chocolate decorations).

marriednotdead · 07/12/2014 21:42

Lights, strings of beads like Trickydecision's, baubles. No bloody tinsel, hate the stuff. And the star goes on first for practical reasons!

ClashCityRocker · 07/12/2014 21:47

I've gone for no tinsel on the tree this year, which has caused great consternation in the clash household. The unused tinsel has been artistically draped over the lounge mirror.

Wired on berries and twiggy shite first, then lights, then usually tinsel if I was having it, then big baubles, then special baubles and then the little baubles to fill the spaces.

Then the star, which would have been a fuck of a lot easier if I'd put it on first.

After putting on the star, i re-put-on all the baubles I've knocked off trying to get the star to stay on straight.

ClashCityRocker · 07/12/2014 21:49

ottila how does that work! putting the lights on last?! Insane, I tell you.

BeyondRepair · 07/12/2014 21:49

(I'm on DH's side. Lights, baubles and then tinsel draped over them. Maybe its gender related?

Can you explain yourself please, why would you put tinsel last?

SoMuchForSubtlety · 07/12/2014 22:03

The anti-tinsel lobby would have hated my childhood Christmas tree - it was made of green tinselly stuff (mum is allergic to conifers so no real tree). Xmas Grin

OttiliaVonBCup · 07/12/2014 22:08

Always last.

And I have tons of baubles.

OttiliaVonBCup · 07/12/2014 22:11

Some years I don't bother with lights.
I find they detract from my baubles.

RowRowRowCrocodileScream · 07/12/2014 22:16

Lights, baubles, tinsel (then occasionally lametta)
