I know there is pedants corner but I was wondering if there was anywhere where like minded people who want to complain about words like amazeballs, and other grumpy things can go and be grumpy without being told to get a life?

BikketBikketBikket · 10/11/2014 20:38

Please, please, please PLEASE MNHQ - 'And Another Thing' would be top of my Christmas list - as long as it wasn't called an 'Xmas' list - I can't stand Xmas...... Angry

HungryHorace · 10/11/2014 21:32

I'm in...I've been grumpy since my 20s, but am now rattling towards 40 at a rate of knots!

'And Another Thing...' is the perfect name. :-)

NoRoomInTheInn · 10/11/2014 21:44

Another vote for "And another thing..."

And, approaching my 46th birthday, I'd also not object to the suggested "Back in my day..." thread either.
Because things did use to be better in the 70's, didn't they?

My Spellcheck keeps trying to chat to me. It says thing like 'you're good to go!'
Do fuck off.

Pipbin · 10/11/2014 23:40

How does your spell check say that? Does it actually speak? I would swear at it.

I like having the sat nav on in the car in my home town, just so I can disagree with it.

OP posts:
WireCat · 10/11/2014 23:50

I vote for And another thing. I like a good grump.

TheSpottedZebra · 10/11/2014 23:54

But see, I like Xmas. I like writing it as I am lazy mostly, but also as I used to go to Catholic school and we were not allowed to 'cut Christ out', even though the X was an early symbol of blah blah blah.

So in the new world, I'd not be allowed on Bikket's don't write Xmas thread. So would I have to start my own don't tell me not to write Xmas thread?

And every time her thread was repliedto, I'd need to PA-ly bump my own one..

Momagain1 · 11/11/2014 00:02

Watching, because I want to rant and BU without anyone telling me I am BU, but I dont want to have to swear. More than usual.

Pipbin · 11/11/2014 00:08

In my world I think you would should say something like 'I understand that Xmas is actually quite an old form of Christmas because X was a Greek shortening of Christ, but I understand why you are finding it annoying.'

But I think the main point would be that anyone can complain about anything without asking if they are being unreasonable about it. They are not asking your opinion and don't care to hear it thank you. The op is always right.
So if you think that Katie Price is actually a feminist who makes great strides for the public view of women, posting on a thread called 'Katie Price fucks me off' is most likely not for you.

I just like the idea of being able to post a thread about how XYZ has really pissed me off - like today at work someone has got to be flexible and alter their working patterns and oh look! It's me - again - because I'm the only full time female and we couldn't possibly ask one of the boys to be flexible now could we, even though it's always me that has to accept changes at the last bloody minute and cancel meetings that will take a fucking year to rearrange, without someone coming on the thread and saying "but maybe they had a meeting too, or had a really good reason blah blah blah" - I've got better reasons than them wanting to spend the afternoon mountain biking! and breathe

... And have lots of people agree with me that my colleagues are being crap :)

ginslinger · 11/11/2014 06:59

You are all completely right

Floisme · 11/11/2014 07:05

Pipbin it's a popup message. I also have to use this software that pops up with a 'thumbs-up' sign whenever I do something right and then says 'See ya later!' when I log out. I swear at it all the time. If I had a swear box I could probably pay off the Deficit.

HicDraconis your colleagues are being crap. In fact I hate to tell you but you sound perfectly reasonable to me Smile

Gullygirl · 11/11/2014 07:16

I'd love a "Rant Here" thread.
I'm a grumpy cow at the best of times and I'm getting worse as I get older.
I don't post on AIBU because being told I'm unreasonable makes me grumpier.
Just want a vent now and then.

HarlotOTara · 11/11/2014 07:31

This is definitely my spiritual home and agree (does that make me less grumpy). Glad I am not the only one hating the JL ad. Someone at work, showed me the JL ad when I went to see her about a safeguarding issue. She cried, I didn't.

However most of my grumpiness is focused on supermarket car parks

fuckyouIdontneedthisshit · 11/11/2014 07:54

I'd liked to be able to have grump too.

I don't normally post, but I would if I had somewhere to have a good, I know I am being unreasonable, moan

ssd · 11/11/2014 07:58

this topic was made for me

I'm even sarcastic to myself

and if I want to be unreasonable over bloody everything I will be, no use telling me to get a life, I know I need one

Pipbin · 11/11/2014 07:59

Supermarket car parks are the work of the devil and everyone in them is an arse.

I'm with you there Hic, once you get known as someone who is flexible the don't even bother asking other people after a while. I'm sure the conversations go 'but that means someone will need to work Saturday'. 'It's ok, Hic will do it, she usually does'.

OP posts:
HicDraconis · 11/11/2014 08:04

Pipbin do you have a hidden camera on the office wall? Because that's more or less exactly how it goes. "We need someone to cover this list - oh, Hic's meant to be on a morning off, never mind, she'll come in, she always does" ... Every. Bloody. Week.

Today I sent a grumpy email. It said "no. One of the others can do it. I'm done being flexible."

channelling my inner GOW

HicDraconis · 11/11/2014 08:05

...and another thing. Supermarket car parks :)

Bakeoffcakes · 11/11/2014 08:10

Oh I love this idea! Yes please.

As long as those younger types don't come on and start telling us we should stop moaning. It needs to be written in big letters that this is the place to moan and rant.

Pipbin · 11/11/2014 08:15

Quite Bakeoff. That's the problem with AIBU, you are asking for opinion. I just want someone to say 'I know, the bastards'.
I don't want someone telling me that actually text speak is a valid form of communication or that someone can play loud music until 3am because it's Saturday.

OP posts:
HicDraconis · 11/11/2014 08:26

It's more an "I don't give a rat's arse if I'm being unreasonable or not" topic. Maybe we should ask for a rat's arse emoticon. Though I did like the purple grumpy face idea.

HicDraconis · 11/11/2014 08:27

Text speak is not a valid form of communication. Anything I get with text speak in gets automatically deleted. Hate hate hate it.

BrendaBlackhead · 11/11/2014 08:39

And I want to be able to say O Levels were harder and back in my day you had to do unseen translations and what's this holiday French crap you're doing instead of learning the pluperfect and in the 80s the radio was much better background revision than all that awful noise going on today. How can you concentrate when those idiotic djs speak so fast and not even in the Queen's English? No, you should have heard Simon Bates and Gary Davies.
