To think kraft have ruined Cadburys

I've never felt the urge to eat a bag of jelly beans while stuffing my face with a bar of whole nut , nor have I been disappointed that the only flavours savoured from my beloved dairy milk are that of delicious creamy chocolate and not strawberry/banana/cola/popcorn etc.

I also like my choc in proper squares! Not the odd ball rounded shapes it comes in these days.

And now no more chocolate coins at Christmas!! Shock

AIBU to think all that was good has now been ruined! Sad

YANBU.

What is it with the Americans and their sick-flavoured chocolate? Hershey's tastes like summat a tramp threw up.

Littlebigcat · 09/11/2014 09:55

I don't really understand why they've put jelly beans and Ritz in it, the banana one was the worst. It's vile. Irish Cadburys has better flavours IMO. I'm still not over Spira's being discontinued, I loved drinking my tea through them.

Pointlessfan · 09/11/2014 09:58

YANBU they have ruined one of the best things about Birmingham and I'm sure the chocolate bars are smaller too.

BerniceBroadside · 09/11/2014 09:59

It's definitely not as nice as it used to be. The only thing I bother with now is the ritz bar. And I might just sandwich a ritz cracker between two bars of delicious lidl chocolate instead.

And don't get me started on Cadbury's World. Overpriced bag of shite. When it first opened they practically threw handfuls of chocolate at you. Now it's a couple of bars and they make you pay £3 for a bloody cloth bag to put them in. Grasping fuckers.

PitchSlapped · 09/11/2014 09:59

Yabu - the dairy milk with oreo is to die for

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 09/11/2014 09:59

Isn't the Irish version of Cadburys, suposed to be closer to the "original" UK taste, than the Kraft version?

HappyAsASandboy · 09/11/2014 10:13

I am sure they've changed the recipe as well as the shape.

Except for the Wispa and Twirl bars Grin They are still the old taste Grin I reckon they couldn't get the plastic sicky chocolate to do the Wispa/Twirl textures and so stuck to the more expensive for Kraft better recipe.

Go out and buy Twirls an Wispas please - they'll surely keep making them if people keep buying them Grin

Mumzy · 09/11/2014 10:19

Something else to blame Gordon Brown for. He allowed Kraft's takeover of CAdburys when he could have stopped it because the grasping shareholders wanted a quick buck Well I hope sales fall because frankly it tastes crap and the lidl stuff is far superior Not even our chocolate is safe from globalisation

LosingTheWillToSkate · 09/11/2014 10:20

Cadbury is absolutely rank now.

The best bit of a caramel (which used to be divine) was taking it from the fridge and enjoying the crispy corner bits. Rounded swirlified chocolate is crap. And the chocolate just tastes really weird and sugary now.

Milka, Galaxy, Hotel Chocolat, Lindt and Master Roth in this household now.

LosingTheWillToSkate · 09/11/2014 10:21

I agree about Roses too. The best ones have all but gone, and its not a box of strawberry and orange creamy vile muck.

I'll make concessions for Wispa though. They're still lush.

LadySybilLikesCake · 09/11/2014 10:25

I suppose jelly beans and shit is cheaper than chocolate, so they are doing it to cut costs and increase profits. It's the same when things have been 'improved'. They change the ingredients, usually to cheaper ones, so they never taste the same.

If it's not broken, don't try to fix it!! is the key here. Stop thinking of profits because if you cut them so much your product isn't the same people won't buy it so you lose out. Simples!

Madcatgirl · 09/11/2014 10:26

The Irish version is much superior. I know this because when we go on holiday on the ship we like they only carry the Irish made versions, don't know why, and it's delicious!

Haven't changed the recipe? Bollocks they've not,

SageSeymour · 09/11/2014 10:26

I have to give you the banana Cadbury thing though. Man, it was disgusting

Winterbells · 09/11/2014 10:29

Yanbu! It's ruined. Soon it will taste like Hershey's chocolate and that tastes of baby sick!

Galaxy tastes different too. It used to be the best tasting chocolate but I can't eat it now.

LadySybilLikesCake · 09/11/2014 10:32

I imagine that tastes like medicine, Sage [boak]

PacificDogwood · 09/11/2014 10:32

Even Hershey's tasted better in the early 70s Sad

3littlefrogs · 09/11/2014 10:37

Such a shame.
When I worked in USA I was so disgusted by Hershey's chocolate that I had some Cadburys sent over from the UK. (30 years ago)

I took it to work and shared it round.
I was Miss Popular for months after that!

3littlefrogs · 09/11/2014 10:39

Lidl chocolate is nice. Last year they did lots of Christmas novelty chocs.

Has anyone got cold hard facts to prove all this? I'm not disagreeing with anyone, I've gone off Cadbury too but I want to know the facts of the case.

A few years back choc bars would melt in shops that had no air conditioning they don't do that anymore. Is it anti melt technology that has spoilt our fun?

Also, Irish Cadbury, tell me more about this, why is this tasting better? Is some of the range made in Ireland? If so, which ones?

Yes to a public enquiry!

Well, I was properly turned off Cadbury's in Uganda in 1993 Grin - 'twas the only chocolate available and I may have overindulged, but the taste was just…. bleurgh!
Rumour had it that the African Cadbury's chocolate had wax of some kind added to it to prevent it from melting… Hmm

Wowthishurtsalot · 09/11/2014 11:20

YANBU I fear they've killed the company off

SmilesandPilesOfPresents · 09/11/2014 11:21

Hotel chocolat and Lindt here too.

I just can't eat cadbury or galaxy anymore. Neither of them are as good as they used to be. They've changed too much, it's not even a slight difference anymore, it's a massive one.

Add to that the fact that they think we don't know they've changed it and refuse to acknowlege it was teh icing on the cake for me. Change the recipie by all means but don't take me for a fucking idiot in the meantime when I question you on it.
