to have thought you wear a suspender belt UNDER your knickers?

I think I've been labouring under a misapprehension here. I've worn stockings once or twice, and have always worn the belt under my knickers.

However, somebody at work was saying she wears them occasionally but found them really awkward to go to the loo in. I couldn't understand why, until I realised she has the belt and straps over her pants, so she has to unclip, or they won't go over the top of her stockings.

So I mentioned that if you put them on first, and your knickers over the top there was no problem. She looked at me as if I were mad, and said that that was definitely the wrong way around to wear them. Everybody else agreed with her.

So AIBU to have thought that (I was convinced I was right), and if I wear them again, WIBU to do it the 'wrong' way, since I can actually go to the loo without severe undergarment rearrangement?

Ah, I'm another one who has been wearing them wrong... Makes a lot of sense now....I've always wore them over.

I find I can get my knickers down from underneath though by sliding my fingers up the side and tugging.

I'm not keen on them though, find them a bit uncomfy.

Also, when you sit down, the adjustable strap always seems to adjust to longer, and then is too lose when you stand up I'm wearing them wrong aren't i?

knickers over tights??? yuck

I think tights are not so nylony now either and sometimes have cotton gussets. always used to get thrush so that is why I tended to wear them.

I may dig out my suspender belt again. still sat in drawer after more than 20 years'

I am 5' 11" and when I was very young (outing myself as old now!) they didn't do tall tights and if I didn't wear knickers over tights I always ended up with the crotch of the tights halfway to my knees!

Used to wear knickers, tights, knickers. As I got older switched to stockings as they were much comfier, then switched back to tights when tall tights were "invented".

Knickers always over your stockings and sussie belt; then you can keep them on when you get your kecks off, iyswim ?

The knickers go over the suspender belt. How else can you take your knickers off but still leave your stockings on during amorous moments?

Suspenders go inside pants to aid the removal there of. Models and mannequins wear them on the outside of pants to prevent 'gaping' during photo shoots!

Belt over knickers. I recently tried wearing it under after reading a similar thread here and I think you are all completely mad, it was the uncomfiest thing ever! Maybe if you wear French knickers, but I don't... I have been wearing stockings and suspenders daily for last 18 yrs, btw.

Although I've only been doing it wrong about once in a blue moon. So much pretty underwear, so little occasion to wear it.

Its under if youre wearing them properly. In pictures they always wear them the wrong way.

Posted on here a week ago about my embarrassing suspender moment as a teen ...if I'd worn the belt over my knickers when it came undone it wouldn't have pulled my knickers down with it...my life may have been so different - a sliding door moment - I might have ended up with the boy I fancied, happy ever after (instead of so embarrassed I avoided him).
So there are advantages of wearing one over your knickers - still I think too much faff to go to the loo etc

Silly question, but does anyone know why men always behave like little children in a sweet shop whenever they see a woman wearing stockings and suspenders ? All men seem to react the same way. Guess they would be different if it was them who had to wear them !!

It's the combination of the tantalising glimpse of upper thigh, combined with the delightful possibility of removing the knickers without disturbing the stocking arrangement...

Going back to Kirby grips - has anyone told the manufacturers? Because if you get one with anything decorative on, that's clearly meant to be the side away from the head, so the silk flower or jewel or whatever shows - and that's always on the crimped side, which means they think the crimped side must go on top, away from the head.

What's this knickers over tights ---noooo, we all wore pantygirdles - they held your tummy in and your tights up!

Obviously stockings go under knickers. What the hell's the point of the faff of them if you can't whip off those knickers and have sex in the finery? I distinctly remember it happening that way a couple of decades ago!

Asked my mum who regularly wore them as a schoolgirl and it's definitely under pants.

Have I been transported back in time? I honestly thought that suspenders went out with the ark and Page 3 lovelies! No need for any such discussion these days with Bridget Jones pants and hold ups :)

You've stumbled into the 'Stockings and Suspenders Supporters Club', wizzchick, they're oh so comfortable and de rigeur. I wear them every day... lace tops for occasions though.

I've been unable to re-visit the notion of hold-ups since my first experience of them over 25 years ago, when my skinny legs' precarious grip on them failed and I ended up with both stockings dropping unsexily towards my ankles on a night out in the middle of Edinburgh. My thighs have 'matured', shall we say, to a considerable degree, but even so, residual fear of hold-up failure keeps me faithful to my suspender belts.

Well I am a traditionaly proportioned woman and as such wearing hold up looks like someone is putting 2lb of cottage cheese in a sausage skin and tying a hair band round the top.
