AIBU?

To think that nasty and callous responses seem to have increased on MN recently?

On AIBU and relationships? Some of the responses have made me feel really down on behalf of the OP?

I've seen in the last couple of days:

One MNer advising they would NOT want their husband talking to a "depressed person" a few times a week (OP had depression and a close bond spanning a few years within ex colleague who had obv. become a great friend)

One MNer asking "FGS is this the 50s" when an obviously devastated woman asked expressed anger and disbelief at possibly (almost definitely cheating) Dh AND the OW

A woman angrily labelling a landlord with a dilemma greedy and immoral for not GIVING AWAY her house to a tenant unable to pay the rent

And just a general increase in the eye rolling, dismissive and cutting put downs to some generally hurt people reaching out for a bit of support?

It's as cold as a nuns t*t in MN world at the moment.

No, nothing irreparable thankfully!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 13/10/2014 22:03

Definite peaks and troughs, though perhaps different depending on your own personal triggers and sensitivities.

AIBU got really nasty a while back but seems to be just skimming the boundaries of courtesy at the moment...

When I was a newbie, I was accused of just pretending to be new because apparently, I was 'too confident' and my opinions were 'too strong for a new poster' Confused

I must have missed the memo instructing me to doff my hat and apologise profusely for offering my opinions Grin

Tinytillytot · 13/10/2014 22:11

I didn't know "site stuff" existed. I pretty much read AIBU and relationships tbh.

I'd say apart from the last couple of pages the responses have generally agreed IANBU?

Oh...can you actually doff a hat?

That should have been 'cap', shouldn't it? Confused

Either way, I apologise profusely.

HaroldLloyd · 13/10/2014 22:13

If you only read AIBU ans Relationships, it's no wonder! They are the worst two bits.

Have a foray into chat, it's a bit more lighthearted.

Well you know OP, I think that part of the problem is some posters never leave AIBU.

Anyway, on the basis of that landlord thread I have texted mine and asked when I can expect the deeds.

Here's hoping.

Tinytillytot · 13/10/2014 22:18

Stickem - my earlier post in this thread highlights that I think the majority of mumsnetters are lovely (just an increase in nastiness lately but not the majority by any means). Is it ok to make a positive judgement on just two boards then? What are the rules on passing judgement?

Yeah, OP you really need to try some of the other threads. Classics would be a good starter.

No one can tell you YOU haven't noticed it lately, it's a personal thing isn't it. You might have been unlucky and clicked on a few more arsey threads than most.
