To think that nasty and callous responses seem to have increased on MN recently?

On AIBU and relationships? Some of the responses have made me feel really down on behalf of the OP?

I've seen in the last couple of days:

One MNer advising they would NOT want their husband talking to a "depressed person" a few times a week (OP had depression and a close bond spanning a few years within ex colleague who had obv. become a great friend)

One MNer asking "FGS is this the 50s" when an obviously devastated woman asked expressed anger and disbelief at possibly (almost definitely cheating) Dh AND the OW

A woman angrily labelling a landlord with a dilemma greedy and immoral for not GIVING AWAY her house to a tenant unable to pay the rent

And just a general increase in the eye rolling, dismissive and cutting put downs to some generally hurt people reaching out for a bit of support?

It's as cold as a nuns t*t in MN world at the moment.

People NC Thebody. It's not against the law.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 13/10/2014 21:07

But it's not the majority! Of course you get the odd nasty person both here and in RL. Does that mean you done engage in either?

Of course not.

If a post is outright personal just report it.

Come off it mumsnetters, it's a great site.

Let's stop slagging it and disappoint the DM and Mat wank stain.

smokepole · 13/10/2014 21:09

I have probably had more than my fare share of nasty and callous responses.
to my posts. It seems some posters pick a target, then jump in like a pack of dogs to destroy the poster concerned. It is not quite as nasty and other parts of the site though.

Fairenuff · 13/10/2014 21:09

I think your skin gets thicker the more you use it too.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 13/10/2014 21:10

middleton of course but to repeatedly do so and use a totally different name is, to me, strange as it's nice to recognise posters.

smokepole · 13/10/2014 21:12

Posters are to willing to shout "Troll" if they don't understand, or disagree with the posters point of view.

bottleofbeer · 13/10/2014 21:13

I'm not very prolific. I bet a pound to a pinch of shite you don't recognise my name. It doesn't mean my opinion is less valid than a name you happily recognise or that there is anything odd about me saying that yes, it's noticeable lately that people are getting nastier responses than usual.

wooooosualsuspect · 13/10/2014 21:15

Or people are actually trolling

HoneyDragonMumshnet · 13/10/2014 21:16

Bottleofbeer

May I say your looking wonderful this evening. Wine?

HoneyDragonMumshnet · 13/10/2014 21:18

I'm a troll, it's just taking me quite a long time to build up my cover story....

DogsinBoots · 13/10/2014 21:20

I agree with bottleofbeer, very well said bottle. I don't know where we go from here tiny :(
Thebodyofchoc, maybe you haven't seen the same threads as us?
Just cos you don't know my name it doesn't mean I'm wrong, I'm certainly no troll luv.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 13/10/2014 21:21

Er yes actually I do bottle and can I say you look wonderful tonight. Wink

dogsin I said some not all my love.

bottleofbeer · 13/10/2014 21:22

Cor, fanks you lot!

wooooosualsuspect · 13/10/2014 21:24

I was on a thread the other day where posters were sticking the boot in, until I came along no fucker else stood up for the OP.

So if you see it and think the OP is getting uncalled for nasty responses, call it on the thread.Starting whiny threads about the bullies blah blah does fuck all to stop it.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 13/10/2014 21:25

Anyway seriously I don't see it's nastier really. Maybe it's the thick skin I have.

HoneyDragonMumshnet · 13/10/2014 21:25

I make up 90% of this thread you sucksaaaaahs Grin

The increase in proper yucky trolls on here seems disproportionately higher than the increase in users though.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 13/10/2014 21:26

Woooo yes good post.

Most of us live ordinary lives, so the extraordinary situations on mumsnet may seem far fetched at times. People arrive at this site in the most extreme of circumstances and it's sometimes hard to accept the stories are real.
The only reality we have is to offer advice from our own standpoint no matter what. Id rather be proved to be responding to a post than a wrongun that ignoring someone in an unusual or desperate situation.
(Bloody hell sorry for the essay)

Tinytillytot · 13/10/2014 21:32

I don't think I was whining, I was simply pointing out a possibly increasingly hostile environment and wondering if others felt the same?

Seems like the majority agree IANBU in thinking this also....

The 40k bailiff and foodbank thread has been zapped by MNHQ as believed to be not genuine
