By Samaritan's Purse

I know I'm not the only one

who else have they decided to silence?

It's quite interesting that they dislike criticism so much

Really grateful for this being brought to my attention. I have had a read of the BHS article and will forward it to our school's head teacher as there are some useful alternative suggestions on there. Thanks

wreckingball · 09/10/2014 21:00

I thought MNHQ owned all the posts on here.

MmeLindor · 09/10/2014 21:03

OK, to those who have been sent emails - a bit of Social Media advice.

This has a very good chance of going viral - already seeing a few tweets about it.

Think carefully about your current MN posting name, and what you may have shared under that name. If there is anything particularly sensitive, ask MNHQ to delete (personal problems, relationship advice, issues with PILs etc).

Also think about whether your Twitter ID and MN ID will be linked and if you want that.

This may be being overly cautious and I don't want to scare you, but I wanted to mention it. Your normal ramblings about school, what you are making for dinner, and everyday nonsense isn't a problem, just what you wouldn't like to be read by friends/relatives/school run mums...

TweetingInFury · 09/10/2014 21:07

If anyone wants a RT Pm me your twitter, I'll follow and RT. Am @PatronisingBT

HoldenMcGroin · 09/10/2014 21:11

Good advice MmeL

Bambambini · 09/10/2014 21:14

this is an article on Franklyn Graham's stance on gay marriage and abortion

He is allowed his beliefs and to think what he wants - but he has power and funds. I think it's only fair that people understand what SP is about so they can make an informed decision whether they want to support him and the organisation.

Mintyy · 09/10/2014 21:14

Crikey, this has flushed the truly oldy oldies out of retirement hasn't it?

I remember the threads about the school too prh47. If you said "the school is under investigation for exam cheating" you would be deleted. Even though the school was indeed under investigation for exam cheating. It was baffling and comments and whole threads were deleted when there was nothing libellous being said.

As I understood it, the law about libel on the internet has changed somehow in the not too distant past. At least it is now possible to mention that school without being threatened.

Sympathies and support to any caught up in this ludicrous new SP debacle.

^^ What MmeLindor says.

"I thought MNHQ owned all the posts on here."

MN might own all the posts, but only as their publisher (by virtue of hosting a public forum). They can still sue the author of the posts, if they can be identified.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 09/10/2014 21:14

I believe the Bible says love your enemies... not sue your enemies... does it not, SP?

Maybe you have a different version? Confused

Shakey1500 · 09/10/2014 21:15

Posting to support Thanks Wine

I'm already up the barricade with pacific and maryz but for different, less scary reasons of a non-festive nature.

Les Mis songs still appropriate though

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 09/10/2014 21:16

I just emailed my mum a link to this thread. Her church usually supports OCC. I think they might not this year (finally!)

MmeLindor · 09/10/2014 21:17

TweetinginFury
Can we hold off on the twitter storm until the posters affected have time to make sure they won't be identified? If they are on Twitter, they may want to remove real name or lock account.

I am not saying that you definitely all should do this, btw - but if you don't want MN and RL name linked, then it woudl be better. I don't care, cause I'm totally open on MN and Twitter who I am, but others aren't.

OTheHugeManatee · 09/10/2014 21:22

Is it just me or does Samaritan's Purse sound like a rude euphemism?

UltraNumb · 09/10/2014 21:24

anyone else disturbed by the complete radio silence from MNHQ in the last 3 hrs. :(

PacificDogwood · 09/10/2014 21:27

I suspect MNHQ are a bit busy behind the scenes. I hope on behalf of posters here.

I cannot stop thinking about the saying about 'sow's ears/silk purses' when I hear SP Grin

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 09/10/2014 21:28

Ultra
I wouldn't read anything into it. They may not get formal advice until tomorrow so there is not much more they can say.

TweetingInFury · 09/10/2014 21:28

Agreed Mme. Already changed my name and would urge anyone else to do the same. I am identifiable somewhat from Twitter, however I'm no fussed and I'll take the hit to make use of the followers.
