To wonder about all these hobbies that your DHs seem to have?

Inspired by a number of freds where the OP states that her DH has a hobby that (invariably) takes up all their time.

I always wonder what that hobby could be. Is it just me?

If your DH has a hobby, please can you tell me what it is so I can go to sleep :o?

TIA

Rugby. Playing it. Coaching it. Watching it.

minipie · 07/10/2014 23:35

None. Because we both work long hours and have a small child (and another on the way) so IMO he doesn't really have time for hobbies at the moment. Luckily he agrees.

I'm amazed by the number of men who think it's ok to spend many hours a week on their hobby, but don't give their wife equal amounts of time off to do something they fancy doing. Can't really understand the justification.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 07/10/2014 23:35

Cycling here too, and various other sporty stuff (triathlons, climbing,...)

I have a few of my own too though, so I can't complain TOO much!

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 07/10/2014 23:38

Restoring model airplanes (thought that's an earner, so I can't complain), model cars, cycling. His parents were authorities on idea cars though so it's bred into him - I knew it when I took him on!

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 07/10/2014 23:38

Sorry, model cars, not idea cars!

music/teaching music/performing music

TinklyLittleLaugh · 07/10/2014 23:40

Cycling, mountain biking, running, gym, season ticket for his football team, taking his motor bike to bits and putting it back together, playing guitar and piano.

My DH is a very busy person; cannot bear to just sit about. He is a tad exhausting (but very fit).

Bikes of all sorts
Mountain biking
Road cycling
Motorbike riding
Track days on his motorbike
Watching moto gp
Motor cross and more recently he bought a mini moto...add into the mix he has bought ds a mini motor cross bike and he also goes to a cycle training at 4 yo...our life (and garage) is full of bikes. Luckily we met due to our mutual live of motorbikes so I can't complain.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 07/10/2014 23:46

Wine. Reading about it, researching and ordering it, drinking it. Luckily our hobbies are compatible... he likes to buy the wine, I like to drink the wine. Grin

Also his allotment. And constantly playing a certain game on his phone - I've no idea what it is but I think it involves blowing stuff up. Confused Grin

TinklyLittleLaugh · 07/10/2014 23:48

Memphisbelly our garage is stuffed with bikes too, and my two lads are as bad as he is. Me and the girls have more sense.

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 07/10/2014 23:49

Crabby, he sounds like my ideal man (on the wine front!). You lucky lucky woman.

Shahrazad · 07/10/2014 23:49

Would you believe, a juggling club? The DC found it quite cool when they were younger. Now they are mortified. I just accept it. The first time I met DH he was fire-eating so the juggling is quite tame.

Cycling and guitar.

BuggersMuddle · 08/10/2014 00:10

Cycling, running, volunteering and he also has a committee role in the local chapter of his professional body. When at home he's a geek / gadget fiend.

This is manageable because:

  • I'm probably a more serious cyclist than he is
  • We have no DC Grin
elQuintoConyo · 08/10/2014 00:14

Plays the guitar.
Goes for long walks with his dad.

Neither of us has much time for hobbies; juggling work and dc is tough. Child has a nasty cough so will off school tomortow, that seriously effs up both our days. Hey ho.

Model railways.

Drawing cartoons.

GoldfishSpy · 08/10/2014 05:42

Birdwatching and all things nature.

eurochick · 08/10/2014 05:53

Video games

Shooting is a hobby for both of us. Well it was before the baby came along!

AmericasTorturedBrow · 08/10/2014 05:58

Gaming and cycling. Gaming a lot les than it used to be - to the point I don't mind his occasional geek out nights and I get to curl up with a book. And we're equally into cycling

Jengnr · 08/10/2014 06:00

Cricket and football. He trains twice a week in the summer and plays one match per week. In the winter he plays football once a week and goes to the match.

I dance twice a week. I used to go to the match too (different team) but can't afford it anymore. (He doesn't pay for his ticket)

Eastpoint · 08/10/2014 06:05

DH cycles, runs, windsurfs & makes sourdough bread (he would consider the latter to be useful). He has been on windsurfing holidays & we have been on holidays when he has cycled everyday.

I don't have hobbies, I'd rather go & see a film. I exercise for health reasons rather than because I enjoy it.

Honeezreturn · 08/10/2014 06:11

Cricket...I dont see him much in the summer unless I go along.
season ticket holder for footy team

overmydeadbody · 08/10/2014 06:25

DP climbs twice a week and during the weekends in summer. He also surfs during the weekends in winter. His other hobbies include cycling, writing code, making things with arduinos, and writing more code.

He never stops.

I do the climbing and surfing with him, and also run at least 4 times a week so we are both busy doing things.
