Just curious as it seems to be everywhere nowadays but I'm not sure if this is a realistic perception. Is it just celebrities or is it us normal folk too? I think I'd be tempted if I had the money although not sure I'd actually go through with it because of the fear of it going wrong (infection, looking worse than before etc.).

Nope, but there's a woman I see occasionally at the school gates who looks like Jackie Stallone.

herecomethepotatoes · 23/05/2016 10:41

Lipo a decade ago and botox a handful of times.

Does botox count as surgery? I've only had it enough to get rid of crows feet and forehead wrinkles. Not one of those paralysed face jobs!

Honestly, I'm too much of a wimp to get more done.

elephantpig · 23/05/2016 17:16

I haven't had anything done but I've told my DH that assuming I breastfeed if/when we have children, I want my boobs fixed after I've finished breastfeeding the 'last child' Blush.

I don't want implants, but just everything 'put back where it belongs' Grin

There are other things that I would change but doubt I'd pay for / risk surgery for them.

Effendi · 23/05/2016 18:45

I had a boob job 11 years ago. Botox and fillers regularly.

NameChanger22 · 23/05/2016 19:18

I haven't and I wouldn't. Morally I think it's a bad thing to do, unless you have a real deformity that makes normal life difficult. Plastic surgery never makes people look better, just more plastic looking.

FaFoutis · 23/05/2016 19:19

Haven't and wouldn't.

Ifiwasabadger · 23/05/2016 19:21

Botox every 3-4 months, had teeth fixed. Best thing I ever did as I smile all the time now. Friends with boob jobs, nose jobs, eye lifts and face lifts. Why not I say.

KaraokeQueenOfTheNorth · 23/05/2016 19:29

I had work done on my teeth which the NHS wouldn't do as it was classed as "cosmetic". Cost me a bloody fortune but it was well worth it. I'll be paying it off for a long time though!

MatildaTheCat · 23/05/2016 19:42

I've had my eyes lasered, skin lasered ( rejuvenating and to even out skin tone), teeth whitened. No actual surgery though I'd love to be a couple of cup sizes smaller and get rid of my jelly belly as I am quite slim other than boobs and tummy. I'm not saying never but am scared of real surgery.

My BFF had a boob job and it was agony and she has never really liked the result. It looks matronly rather than shapely. No guarantees of satisfaction, unfortunately.

Golly! When did they start offering that procedure?!

elephantpig surely everyone differs on how their breasts respond to breastfeeding?

helenatroy · 23/05/2016 20:11

Had my nose done in my twenties and a breast reduction at the same time.

Isthereeverarightime1 · 23/05/2016 20:37

SCARLETT - can I ask you what sort of pain you felt after having your "apron" removed? Mine is depressing me so badly that it's constantly in my mind to get something done in the future.
I have had a c section is it a similar pain?
Also how costly was it (if you don't mind me asking)?

Er, why is it a bad thing? Because it's - gasp - women being vain?

Pupsiecola · 24/05/2016 09:21

I have a consultation booked for a couple of weeks time. Not sure if I need eyelid surgery or brow lift. But my hooded eyes are getting me down and I'm sure they're starting to affect my vision. They're hereditary and I'm 46. I feel that they make me look so tired/angry all the time and that's not how I feel. I've worked hard on my fitness in the last couple of years and I feel fab. I don't want to look years younger. I just want to look awake and my age.

minipie · 24/05/2016 09:46

At the moment there's nothing I'd bother getting done but I'm only mid 30s.

I might consider Botox or skin lasering or maybe even a jaw lift in say 10 years' time. And eye lasering. Depends how my face goes and how safe/expensive the procedures are by then.

I don't think I'd risk major surgery (eg tummy or boobs) but I'm ok with those bits anyway (I can live with a bit of flab and sag).

startingtolooklikemother · 24/05/2016 11:41

I really, really want a tummy tuck. Have lost 4 stone since having DS after emergency C section and still left with a apron. I don't know where to start looking for a surgeon here on abroad? Would love some advice?

Branleuse · 24/05/2016 11:55

i had uplift and implants about 6 years ago. They look much better than they ever did before, and have given me a lot of body confidence, so for me it was worth it. Id been wanting it for nearly 10 years beforehand, so it was a big, well thought out, and researched decision.

Obviously its better to be happy as nature intended, but it was a massive issue for me, and made me miserable, and now I rarely even think of it

Grin I had to read that a few times... interesting procedure... here I am wondering what kind of lips ...!

I haven't had any surgery done, unless you count microdermabrasion, which I don't think is classed as surgery. I had a cyst develop on my forehead which the plastic surgeons wouldn't touch with a knife, because they could potentially slice through a main nerve, leaving half my face paralysed. I opted for the severe exfoliation method.... it's worked, anyway! My face is back to normal, and nice and smooth all over as a result.

Effendi · 24/05/2016 14:17

My breasts look great and as far from plastic as they could be. Didn't go too big for my frame and had an excellent surgeon. Nobody would know by looking at them.

elephantpig · 24/05/2016 14:26

Quim
Of course, but IF I do end up with 'apples in socks' I want them to look nice again. My Mum had a similar chest to me when she was younger and they have just got bigger and bigger with age and I don't want to by in my forties with either massive or 'empty' boobs.

AllTheUsernamesAreTaken3 · 24/05/2016 14:59

If I had the money I'd be straight off to a cosmetic surgeon. No matter how hard I diet - and it's getting to the point where anything resembling "normal eating" is making me gain - I cannot shift my big blubbery belly. The rest of me is stick-like - I look like a snake who swallowed a beach ball. I even asked the doctor to check it wasn't a tumour. Lipo and tummytuck please.
Then that flap of skin under my eyebrows is falling over my eyelid. Goodbye. My lips have vanished but I would think twice about getting fillers because I've seen some truly terrible outcomes. Fillers for the deep cavernous wrinkles.
The lottery is my only hope.

StarUtopia · 24/05/2016 15:12

I had my eyelids lifted. My only regret is that I didn't have them done years ago! I had very hooded eyelids (hereditary). It's knocked years off me, and for the first time every, I know wear mascara and eyeshadow (as you can actually see it!)

The after photo was taken an hour after the procedure.

Three years on, they still look great. I've been advised I will probably need them doing again though in about 10 years time.

Fabulous surgeon!!!

Auntpodder · 24/05/2016 15:20

Breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction but... all part of post breast cancer treatment (tummy tuck was to rebuild a breast after a mastectomy). Liposuction by far the most painful element when neatening up the tummy tuck. I have a whole new respect for Z list celebs who have it done. All NHS. Not the flattest stomach now, but a lot better than if left to mother nature and my natural greed.

Pupsiecola · 24/05/2016 16:42

Wow Star. What a difference! If you don't mind I have some questions! I would like to see a second surgeon, just for completeness sake.

Whereabouts is your surgeon based?
Did he talk about brow lift or lid lift? I'm not sure what I need - if I lift from above the eyebrow it makes a huge difference, although I have no clue what I'm doing...
What was recovery/bruising like? If I go for it I'll struggle to fit it in with college (including big end of year presentation), followed by holiday in the sun (which would mean no swimming with the kids) and then builders in for new kitchen. My main window before October is 10 days pre college presentation. This would allow me enough time to recover before holiday 6 weeks later.

Also, did he do anything to your forehead? It looks great. I have a big crease in the middle - not 11s, but one big crack as DS2 called it.

Do PM me if you'd rather :-)
