Am also a 40 year old 'old biddy' Grin

I bought mine we moved into the city and started walking everywhere. Today I packed it with bags of bulb fibre and plant pots.
My only advice is to get one with an adjustable handle if you're tallish. The handle on mine isn't and is just a little bit too short.

TheBogQueen · 22/09/2014 21:19

Just get one from
Ikea

Pixel · 22/09/2014 21:22

I wouldn't take mine on the bus anyway. I use it because I want to walk!

Futurebird · 22/09/2014 21:24

Yeah true. If it was so far away I'd want a bus, I think I'd drive. This is more for supermarket at the end of the road/trips to the library/fun stuff in town.

Ooooh, inflatable wheels!

gastrognome · 22/09/2014 21:29

I bought a purple Rolser one a few months ago and I love it. One of the best investments ever - cannot believe I waited this long to get one. It has seriously revolutionised my shopping trips. Makes the whole schlep to the shops and back an absolute doddle.

And if it's raining, you can still wheel it and carry an umbrella with the other hand - which you can't do with two armfuls of shopping bags.

HarrietdeBagotSoay · 22/09/2014 21:29

I love my IKEA one.

PacificDogwood · 22/09/2014 21:30

Just like having a pram again Grin

PacificDogwood · 22/09/2014 21:32

Nice wicker one - I only learnt on this thread that wicker ones existed - hm, I might need 2: one in wicker and one in a funky colour Grin

TheWanderingUterus · 22/09/2014 21:33

I just passed mine on to DHs aunt, I had it for five years and loved it but I don't need it any more (they opened a supermarket next to me and I also learned to drive).

DS was a major buggy refuser from 18 months so I used to pop him in it and pull him to town. On the way back he would sit on the top and I had one of those stretchy cords to put around his back to hold him on. He was pretty good at holding the handle and I got very good at packing shopping so he didn't squash it.

I was 26 when I got it, we were living in Switzerland and everyone had one. I was given odd looks for not having one.

PacificDogwood · 22/09/2014 21:36

Rather like this one

Oldraver · 22/09/2014 21:36

I live in a small town where a lot of people walk and appear to struggle with shopping bags and I just think ....get a trolley.

My Mum lived in Spain and everyone has them, including all the young men. I saw someone walk off the beach with a super sized trolley with a bungee for holding the parasol, chairs etc...and it turned a lot of heads, you could see the trolley envy

HSMMaCM · 22/09/2014 21:44

I really want one, but DH and DD have both said they won't come out with me any more if I get one. Think I'll get one anyway and enjoy my peaceful shopping Grin

RandallFloyd · 22/09/2014 21:50

I reeeaaaally want one.
DS will be growing out of his buggy soon (hopefully) but I've got so used to picking up cheap bits and bobs as I see them rather than doing a big shop. It saves me loads of money and means I buy more random stuff. I can't be limited to what I can carry. What if it's wine on offer? I can't be only buying one bottle just in case I need my other hand free for dragging carrying a 3yo home!

Clutterbugsmum · 22/09/2014 21:55

Am I the only person who has given their trolley a name.

PacificDogwood · 22/09/2014 21:56

No, so far we've had a Dorothy and a Trevor Grin.
Or was one of them yours, Clutter?

technosausage · 22/09/2014 21:58

I've just bought one, I'm passed caring if I look cool or not.

Clutterbugsmum · 22/09/2014 21:58

Was Trevor stripy, then maybe Grin.

IAmNotAMindReader · 22/09/2014 21:58

I got a 6 wheeler which is brill, but sadly on its last legs.
no tipping to one side or heaving away if it hits a step or kerb, the next set of wheels rotate round and away you go.
Minimal effort required.

TheBogQueen · 22/09/2014 22:00

I now want a wicker one but fear DP would divorce me

PacificDogwood · 22/09/2014 22:02

LTB, TheBogQueen Grin

TheBogQueen · 22/09/2014 22:05

Yes I'll put all my stuff in the basket Grin

HSMMaCM · 22/09/2014 22:07

Loved my granny's wicker basket. Used to ride round the garden in it Grin
