Bra-less at my BBQ?

BioSuisse · 21/09/2014 09:59

Last night DH and i hosted a BBQ for newish friends whom we had never hosted before. DH invited a female colleague whom i had never met before. She turned up with her boyfriend but not her bra. She was wearing a thickish cotton white top. You could see the outline of her boobs and nipples if you looked.

After the party i mentioned it to DH. He claimed to not have noticed.

MN jury?

What a pity that this woman, new to your country with no friends, is now the subject of a thread asking strangers for judgements on her dress, started by the very person who has offered her the judgey hand of friendship.

Lordnoobson · 21/09/2014 11:08

It's a work do. Not best mates moment.

Forgot on mn all women are fwends

HavanaSlife · 21/09/2014 11:10

Well I dont see how you can say it was very noticable yet your dh didn't notice.

Either you were looking a bit too much or your dh is lieing about it

Lordnoobson · 21/09/2014 11:11

Some people are more observant than others. I noticd everything

HavanaSlife · 21/09/2014 11:11

Lying !

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 21/09/2014 11:14

Of course he noticed. You did. Anyone would but so what!

Me and dh would have shared a chuckle at it but bloody hell really so what! It's just a boob.

NoodleOodle · 21/09/2014 11:15

Why care whether someone else is wearing a bra? That's wasting good thinking time, surely?

AdmitYouKnowImRight · 21/09/2014 11:15

Im with you OP - only on MN are exhibitionists jigging their jugs in public a god given right

TeaAndALemonTart · 21/09/2014 11:17

Your DH bought her? From Russia? Is that legal?

Oh just seen that he brought her. My mistake.

Seriously though, don't worry about it. Live and let live and all that.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 21/09/2014 11:20

motherinferior · 21/09/2014 11:20

Actually I find MN amazingly prudish about the female body, which is frequently considered only acceptable if suitably depilated, made-up and presented in Appropriate Clothing and heels. The older it is, the more stringent the requirements.

Scabetty · 21/09/2014 11:20

Boob job and proud perhaps. I think yanbu.

abigamarone · 21/09/2014 11:21

My DH is not a liar

Given your reaction on this thread alone he took the only option available to him when asked. Of course he noticed.

vestandknickers · 21/09/2014 11:22

Baps out at a BBQ?

Sounds entirely appropriate to me Grin.

I think OP is pissed because her DH obviously did notice and has clearly employed an attractive woman from Russia with nice breasts.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 21/09/2014 11:22

I don't agree that it's exhibitionists all the time. I know a lady with huge huge ones who never wears a bra. She is oblivious to her appearance in all areas but she's the nicest person.

Live and let live.

BrainSurgeon · 21/09/2014 11:22

I have been known to go out bra-less and hate damned bras with a passion... but I would not do it on such an occasion.

I think OP is getting an unfair grilling, maybe she didn't word the question quite diplomatically enough for MN AIBU but I really want to know:

How many of you would go bra-less in a white T-shirt at your new boss' house?

Hmmmm?

Penguinsaresmall · 21/09/2014 11:23

Christ alive, I am a bit Shock at the amount of vitriol on this thread this morning! It's Sunday morning, aren't we all still just waking up?!

Anyway, just wanted to wade in and say am I the only one feeling a bit sorry for the OP?

Putting myself in her position, I would have felt a bit irked by my dh's new employee turning up at my b&q with her norks flopping about (or even worse, being all perky & not flopping at all Envy). But clearly I'm the only one and everybody else is much more well adjusted and devoted to the sisterhood than I am Grin. Personally when I get dressed up to go out, I give myself a quick once over to check that no arse or tit area is inappropriately on show. Am I the only one?

Of course your DH noticed her tits op but was probably just being diplomatic, being her boss etc.

Your cock joke made me laugh anyway Smile

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/09/2014 11:23

'jiggling their jugs'? Just how infantile are you, Admit?

Breasts move. They just do. The issue is that this is a youngish, well-formed woman who has attracted some attention because of her perky figure. She didn't wear a bra. Whoop-de-doo.

If you turn it around and make this woman of middle age, with boobs that droop fall around her stomach and still not wearing a bra, OP would be ever so benevolent.

Double standards indeed. OP is possibly feeling compared/found wanting and that's down to her own insecurities, not the inaction of this woman and OP's husband.

I always wear a bra but I'm thinking that my 34GG's should be unfettered because, let's face it, damned if I do, damned if I don't - but more comfortable for me maybe?

Why are some women so weird? Confused

MarianneSolong · 21/09/2014 11:23

I'm trying to think this one through.

  • It's clearly fine to get a boob job to make your breasts more prominent. They're widely advertised.
  • It's fine to wear a heavily padded bra, which makes your breasts bigger
  • It's okay to wear an underwired platform bra, so that your breasts stick out more.
  • It's socially acceptable to wear something low-necked, so cleavage is visible
  • It's alright to wear spaghetti straps so that bra straps are visible.
  • What bothers (some) people is when a woman does none of things.
Lordnoobson · 21/09/2014 11:24

LOVE JIGGLY JUGS. Lol

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 21/09/2014 11:25

Mind you I do draw the line at hair drying minges in public. That's odd.

Just use the towel and wash it.

BlahBlahYeahYeah · 21/09/2014 11:25

We went to a BBQ yday.

My mum was braless (as always)

Nobody was offended Grin

Penguinsaresmall · 21/09/2014 11:25

Ok so I'm not the only one Smile

gamerchick · 21/09/2014 11:26

Are your spidey senses tingling OP? Does she does like that for work.. is there a reason she's been brought in from another country by your huaband?

People can take the piss all they want over this one thing because on its own it sounds like nothing but we have a gut instinct that tends to shout at us when somethings not feeling right.
