Bra-less at my BBQ?

BioSuisse · 21/09/2014 09:59

Last night DH and i hosted a BBQ for newish friends whom we had never hosted before. DH invited a female colleague whom i had never met before. She turned up with her boyfriend but not her bra. She was wearing a thickish cotton white top. You could see the outline of her boobs and nipples if you looked.

After the party i mentioned it to DH. He claimed to not have noticed.

MN jury?

PistolWhipped, you're still behaving like a troll and posting abusive messages aimed directly at other posters on this thread. I've reported several of them for being nasty.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/09/2014 19:26

Amen to that, UptheChimney. I don't believe a word of it's posts anyway.

FannyBlott · 21/09/2014 20:43

I don't think this was really about bras was it? though I don't think there's anything wrong with not wearing one
I'm so sorry this has happened op, your DH sounds selfish in the extreme, you'll be happier in the long run without him. I hope you've got some good friends around you to help you through the next few months.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 21/09/2014 21:46

Oh OP, I'm sorry. Please do start another thread in Relationships and you'll find some support and advice and kindness - which is what you probably need right now Flowers

peasandlove · 21/09/2014 21:54

You'd hope so. I sometimes wonder if some of these threads are enough to tip people over the edge.

Keepcalmanddrinkwine · 21/09/2014 22:04

Bio, I'm so sorry, that's really shit. Please leave this nasty thread behind you and come over to relationships where we can give you some support.

Some posters should be feeling ashamed. This is happening more and more lately and is not what Mumsnet used to be about. People who have nothing to do but have a go at other women for their own entertainment and sense of superiority.

PacificDogwood · 21/09/2014 22:05

Ah, BioSuisse, I am so very sorry to read your updates.

Your OP makes much more sense to me know tbh - this was about far more than choice of attire Sad.

I hope you are not too bruised from this thread and wish you all the best for the road ahead Thanks

nocoolnamesleft · 21/09/2014 22:11

Going braless is a perfectly reasonable. Adultery is not.

MysticMugBug · 21/09/2014 22:14

the woman in question was not committing public indecency or naked, so I think you are being unreasonable.
Thank God women have more rights/freedom these days.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/09/2014 22:18

Keepcalm... report if you think this thread is nasty but please stop with the digs. If you read the thread you'll see the point of disclosure and it was very late into it. From that point there was no more mickey-taking but support and advice for the OP, not different to what is posted elsewhere. Hindsight is always 20:20 and only the OP had the knowledge.

For your first post on this thread it isn't really useful, is it? You're dead wrong about entertainment and superiority but I suppose you haven't bothered to see what the thread is about or you wouldn't post as you did.

Several posters have suggested re-posting in relationships, you're just repeating the same - and taking the opportunity to stir it.

peasandlove · 21/09/2014 22:18

This whole section is nasty cheap entertainment for some.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/09/2014 22:19

nocool and Mystic... would suggest you read the thread, at least the OP's updates.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/09/2014 22:19

... and yet here you are? Hmm

ernesttheBavarian · 21/09/2014 22:21

MysticMugBug ffs read the latest on a thread before posting. I cannot imagine how bio must be feeling. Having some woman guest turning up, making her feel uncomfortable and finding out afterwards that her and her husband have been having an affair behind her back. OMG she must feel so enraged, blitzed, this OW knew who she was, but bio had no idea.

Bio, I feel for you.

I hate these threads where people just jump on the pc bandwagon and everyone just bloody piles into the OP in such a vindictive way. You've been dealt some major shit, by your h and also on here.

You have a hard time ahead, and much sadness and tough decisions. I wish you well. xx

ernesttheBavarian · 21/09/2014 22:24

dunno where blitzed came from Confused

can't even remember what it was supposed to be.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/09/2014 22:26

'blitzed' is probably a good description. I would feel that.

peasandlove · 21/09/2014 22:26

Yes lyin. You've been very vocal on here. Slow news day?

UptheChimney · 21/09/2014 22:28

where people just jump on the pc bandwagon and everyone just bloody piles into the OP in such a vindictive way. You've been dealt some major shit

Go back & read the first post: the OP asked AIBU straight out, and frankly referred to her guest in quite unflattering terms throughout this thread, as well as answering other posters quite rudely at times.

Now we know why, but that was not until near the end of the thread.

20:20 hindsight is a wonderful thing ...

ithoughtofitfirst · 21/09/2014 22:29

Oooof this thread was bad. Poor OP.

SweetsForMySweet · 21/09/2014 22:31

I'm sorry you're going through such an awful time op. I had not seen the updates when I had written my post.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/09/2014 22:32

Sometimes it's not even bandwagon-jumping. People just feel the way they do. I wear at bra always, it wouldn't be very comfortable for me not to so I do. Some women don't like wearing them and I would defend their right not to have to do that. If we can't not wear them amongst other women who should be supporting our choices then that's pretty bad.

OP's husband's affair was very much later and quite frankly, irrelevant to the bra-wearing (or not), he was cheating and would cheat anyway because he wanted to and had no respect for OP.

onelastfling · 21/09/2014 22:41

Of course DH noticed. (what man doesn't notice nipples)
YES, this 'colleague' was attention seeking.
NO YANBU. Most normal red-blooded females would have picked up on the subtle 'nuances' of the 'free-swinging boob' colleague.

PacificDogwood · 21/09/2014 22:50

BioSuisse's STBEXH's affair was neither caused by wanton bralessness, nor would it have been prevented by cast-iron girdlery.
It would appear that the woman in question was trying to force a confrontation, seeing that MrSuisse was not being honest about what he was up to.
I don't think that this situation had much to do with fashion, propriety or feminist choices tbh.

ithoughtofitfirst · 21/09/2014 23:01

I didn't catch the bit about the cheating cause her posts were deleted so i have no idea how it came about. I did try reading the entire thread. Sad
