It is! Not mine, I pinched it from the blogger who kindly uploaded a photo. I also found out that [a] they can do it for 12+ hours, [b] males often guard the eggs, and [c] babysitter daddies get more sex because all the eggs they fertilised get laid in one clutch, which they guard. Also, babysitter daddy long legs live a bit longer than other males. But all the adults die when their young are hatched.

I should go back to watching Stenders and get cross about that instead!

This really is the insect information thread! I now know the difference between a cricket and a grasshopper and I also know the shagging habits of daddy long legs!

Never a Mumsnet day without learning new things you could have lived without knowing ...

My haul for today: daddy long legs sex; tunnel-web & mouse spiders; Irish trains ran on turf during the war; Ocado makes randomly different offers to different customers.

We have varied interests, you must admit Wink

I think it's nice that there's somewhere to moan and de-stress online. It lets IRL people off the hook from little rages

MiddletonPink · 21/09/2014 22:16

No more moany than usual. I mean usual not you OP.

usualsuspect333 · 21/09/2014 22:18

It must have been a particularly moany night on AIBU, when I started this thread.

Hiya,Maryz.

I think, looking at the pictures on here. It was a cricket I rescued or a very small grasshopper. So worth starting the thread just for that.

What? You're unimpressed by my masterclass in Daddy Long Legs sex 'n' reproduction?
