No gloating.
No blaming.

Just appreciation for a huge turnout and a peaceful process.

Than still averages yes

Clarabum · 19/09/2014 20:03

Acht brilliant..Those two peachy groups. I think we can all agree on them being nutters.

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 20:04

Did anyone just see that cheesy montage to 'both sides of the tweed' on the One Show. Surely we can unite in hating that.

That was hurrendous Shock

Annunziata · 19/09/2014 20:05

Babyboomers was insulting the majority who voted no, why should she be allowed to do that?

WildThrong · 19/09/2014 20:05

Orange order have distanced themselves from it, not them apparently. I suspect it's daft eejits thinking they need retribution for the union flag burning before. Wish they would all (both sides) go home. Bampots.

FindoGask · 19/09/2014 20:06

"Babyboomers was insulting the majority who voted no, why should she be allowed to do that?"

I'm sure you'll live with it. You got what you wanted, after all.

WildThrong · 19/09/2014 20:08

findo that's it then, it's ok to insult people cos you didn't get what you wanted? Pram, rattle, out.

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 20:08

I know it does starwars. I was only commenting on the fact that talking about how the youngest were massively in favour, as I have seen people doing, is probably not a sound assertion. The total sample for 16-24 was still under 100 so is not great for drawing reliable conclusions from.

Annunziata · 19/09/2014 20:09

No, I won't live with someone saying they are ashamed of me, that I am a disgrace, coward and selfish because I decided I would vote differently to them. That is bullying.

FindoGask · 19/09/2014 20:12

wildthong - are you emotionally stunted? Many of us are feeling absolutely desperate today. I don't agree with everything babyboomers says, but it was pretty mild compared to some of the things I've seen (and countered) on social media; I think under the circumstances, some of you could show a little grace. The results were released only this morning, after all - it's a bit much to expect everyone to put up and shut up already.

madpixie · 19/09/2014 20:13

I agree with one of the first posters, just huge relief. Lots of respect to yes voters (well the peaceful ones anyway, but there were bad people on both sides) and I'm sorry that you must be gutted today. But my husband will get a sleep for the first time in weeks and we can get back to worrying about being pregnant.

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 20:13

'm sure you'll live with it. You got what you wanted, after all.

It doesn't make people fair game for name calling, insults and huge generalisations.

Annunziata · 19/09/2014 20:14

Well some of us have been feeling desperate for the past few years and we've managed to keep civil tongues in your heads.

Of course you are disappointed, that is normal, but it isn't normal and it isn't right for you to bully everyone else.

babyboomersrock · 19/09/2014 20:16

Ok, I shouldn't have called my No-voting peers cowards. The rest stands. I am surrounded by people of my own age - the group often vilified on here for caring nothing for younger people's interests. I did say that some were too poor and anxious to take a risk - I get that. They're the very ones who need a better world and I'd never blame them for not risking losing the little they have.

But others - and sadly I number family members among them - voted for themselves and their own interests. And I will never think that's right.

I am no nationalist - I'm late to the independence table - but in the past few years I have come to realise that we have to start small. I'd be far happier if I thought we had a hope in hell of achieving a decent standard of living for everyone in our islands, but that isn't going to happen with the current set-up.

This is only my second post here. And the last.

FindoGask · 19/09/2014 20:16

babyboomer wasn't name calling. And I bet you've made a few generalisations in your time, so perhaps we can all stop being all po-faced and pretending we've never said anything nasty.

RJnomore · 19/09/2014 20:16

I don't expect put up and shut up. I expect common courtesy and good manners though. And civilised debate.

FindoGask · 19/09/2014 20:17

"civilised debate"?! this is AIBU, right? Have I gone to sleep and woken up in a Victorian drawing room by mistake?

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 19/09/2014 20:19

Can't find anything about what's going on in George Square. Burning saltire flags? That's awful.

rootypig · 19/09/2014 20:19

babyboomer please don't stop posting, what you have to say makes other people feel less alone. What you have to say is the something small you speak of Flowers

WildThrong · 19/09/2014 20:19

Findo

Am I emotionally stunted? Seriously? Shock
And we have to show grace because we won?

So no voters, sit, take whatever shit is thrown at you before and after the vote, and for god sake do not complain because that wouldn't be sympathetic.

FindoGask · 19/09/2014 20:19

I don't know how to do that bunch of flowers icon, babyboomersrock, but if I did, I would sent it your way. Not the best of days.

rootypig · 19/09/2014 20:20

civilised debate"?! this is AIBU, right? Have I gone to sleep and woken up in a Victorian drawing room by mistake?

Grin Grin

Yes, and take the coal scuttle with you on your way out

starwarslegoboy · 19/09/2014 20:21

Babyboomer
Good post, but you are going to have to have bullet proof tits to see off the shit you get online. I don't think it's just MN. And even people in cars swear at you in a way they never would if they were in a normal social environment Much mentalness, this modern world.

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 20:22

Pretty much WildThrong. Just accept that for the next few days/weeks/months, you are to blame.

TheBogQueen · 19/09/2014 20:22

I'm kind of admiring you now wildthong

You are really really good at this.
