To be really annoyed with the debate today on Loose Women?

Firstly, let me say, I do NOT watch this shite usually, I flicked it on as background noise this afternoon but was caught by the debate they were having, namely Domestic Abuse.

The whole debate was centred around the basis of the woman being the victim and the man, the perpetrator. They had a guest speaker on, I think she was affiliated with the refuge system in some way, very anti-men, and brought up these statistics about 95% of perpetrators being male etc.

This makes me so angry. The only reason the statistic is so unbalanced is because men don't come forward as often as women probably do.

I am aware of womens refuge's, but are there any for men?

I think far too much emphasis is placed on the male in these cases and is much too overlooked Angry

Just my opinion, rant over.

This assumption that males are more violent and the more abusive gender is a feminist lie

Can you explain this to me in more detail please. I am now worried the BBC has been lying to me for years when they report the figures for male violence and female violence.

Also my policeman friend must be a feminist because he also confirms that men are the most violent of the sexes.

I have been lied to weep weep sob sob.

Why is it that the most common scenario with infanticide is mothers killing sons? Why is it that when you reverse the usual physical differences that it is females who want to kill their male offspring more often than their daughters and biological fathers are not even close to killing their children as often as mothers.

Yet if you believe the feminist lies it is fathers who pose the greatest risk

AnyFucker · 17/09/2014 19:31

I was violently assaulted by my ex wife more than 50 times. I failed to report it because none of it was life threatening or led me to be fearful. It was just a means by which she got to vent her anger.

Tom (may I call you Tom?...), you have just succinctly made the argument for why more refuge places are needed for women than men

When women are subjected to DV, they are at risk of getting killed and you were at risk of getting embarassed

the statistics tell us this (two a week etc)

and you very conveniently have backed that up with your personal experience, cheers for that

"feminist lies"

your agenda is showing Grin

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 17/09/2014 19:33

Statistics show that the group most likely to be murdered are young men aged between 16 and 24. The group most likely to commit those murders? Other men.

Blistory · 17/09/2014 19:33

A wee grumpy face ? That'll scare me off.

Not nice when someone is deliberately provocative, is it ?

ScouseBird8364 · 17/09/2014 19:33

Saskia, I'm not a daytime TV watcher, therefore I'm not really one to start flicking through to see what's on Hmm Jesus, not hard to fathom that is ot? Hmm

AnyFucker your comment dismissing Toms DV is uncalled for, who's to say she wouldn't habe killed him?

"Killings of children by a natural parent are committed in roughly equal proportions by mothers (47%) and fathers (53%), but where the child is killed by someone other than a [birth] parent, males strongly predominate".

(Office for National Statistics, 2014)

HotPinkWeaselWearingLederhosen · 17/09/2014 19:35

Well, are you disputing that 95% of perpetrators are male?

Do you have a problem with this debate in general?

Or just the debate on Loose women?

that you just happened to be watching

Would have been more valid on question time evening the statistics were the same?

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 17/09/2014 19:36

Disgrace to Liverpool, sorry Scouse, I'm at work during the day, so I don't get to watch daytime television, but even I know there is more than one channel.

FlossyMoo · 17/09/2014 19:37

Tom

If as you say there is as much female-male violence as male-female violence but it goes unnoticed because they don't report how do you explain the 1 female death per week at the hands of a violent man to that of the deaths of men at the hands of a violent women, which by the way I couldn't find a statistic for as it is so minimal.

TomLondon · 17/09/2014 19:37

ScouseBird she has no need to kill me. She just uses the courts and law enforcement agencies to take my children. Same thing really and that abuse is permitted by society and the feminists here will applaud her actions.

MrSheen · 17/09/2014 19:38

Women are more likely to kill their child than men, but only for infants under one day old. Between one day old to old age, both males and females are more likely to be killed by men.

AnyFucker · 17/09/2014 19:39

scouse Tom himself said she wouldn't have killed him

didn't you read his post ?

NeedsAsockamnesty · 17/09/2014 19:39

The ONS, police and nspcc disagree with you

To be really annoyed with the debate today on Loose Women?
AnyFucker · 17/09/2014 19:40

Flossy, it's 2 women a week. Just making sure we have the numbers right. Smile

Blistory · 17/09/2014 19:41

But AF, only because she didn't need to kill him with violence. She killed him other ways instead. Because that's just the same. Apparently.

Itsfab · 17/09/2014 19:41

OP

Don't be so silly. No one cares whether you watch LW or not.

The guest was from Refuge and Kaye said several times there are also men victims. It was important to her to get that across but the fact remains there are more women victims of violence than men.

I wish they would stop with the domestic violence description, it lends a familial element to the illegal act and it should be violence full stop.

MrSheen · 17/09/2014 19:42

Maybe if you paid child support you could build a more civil relationship with your ex. Is raising children without financial support one of the women's rights you want for yourself?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 17/09/2014 19:43

Good evening all
Just to post a reminder of our talk guidelines
Thanks so much

AnyFucker · 17/09/2014 19:43

Yeah, those family courts are murdering bastards aren't they ?

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 17/09/2014 19:44

AF, stop it with your pesky numbers - next you'll be suggesting the criminal justice system keeps records or some such gubbins.
