To be really annoyed with the debate today on Loose Women?

Firstly, let me say, I do NOT watch this shite usually, I flicked it on as background noise this afternoon but was caught by the debate they were having, namely Domestic Abuse.

The whole debate was centred around the basis of the woman being the victim and the man, the perpetrator. They had a guest speaker on, I think she was affiliated with the refuge system in some way, very anti-men, and brought up these statistics about 95% of perpetrators being male etc.

This makes me so angry. The only reason the statistic is so unbalanced is because men don't come forward as often as women probably do.

I am aware of womens refuge's, but are there any for men?

I think far too much emphasis is placed on the male in these cases and is much too overlooked Angry

Just my opinion, rant over.

Well, I know recently it cannot be said that the other side of the debate is never reported. In fact, it is unusual now to hear a DV debate without people falling over themselves to say 'it works both ways'.
So don't know what debates, other than LW obv, you have been privy to OP. Or why you somehow think one cancels out the other.

Bulbasaur · 17/09/2014 19:12

I am aware of numerous perpetrators who are women, yet they think it's right to act the way they do

Abusive men think it's right to act the way they do too. What's your point?

If social pressure made everyone think about their actions we'd have a very low crime rate.

FlossyMoo · 17/09/2014 19:13

And if the discussion was around EA I would agree with you but the topic is DV. Which more women are the victims of than men. Nothing to do with not reporting the crime it is to do with the fact that there are more men who are violent towards women than women who are violent to men.

HotPinkWeaselWearingLederhosen · 17/09/2014 19:14

If only you could've changed channels Sad

Blistory · 17/09/2014 19:15

I want the rights that women have!

How very fucking entitled do you think that comes across as ? How completely unaware. How lacking in judgement and compassion.

Do you completely lack humanity ?

Bulbasaur · 17/09/2014 19:15

I have minimal things in common with other men. Why do I need to be grouped by gender and then this presumption of that I am threat to women and children attached to me?

It's like a bowl of M&M's, where they all look the same, but some are poison. Would you still eat them? Not all the M&M's are poison...

Because unfortunately, we can't tell what kind of person you are just by looking at you. So we have to be cautious. That's not being sexist, that's being realistic.

ScouseBird8364 · 17/09/2014 19:16

Hotpink, err, obviously Hmm What's your point?!

TomLondon · 17/09/2014 19:18

I would dispute even that assumption. I was violently assaulted by my ex wife more than 50 times. I failed to report it because none of it was life threatening or led me to be fearful. It was just a means by which she got to vent her anger.

If you compare prison populations they are more assaults and sexual assaults in womens prisons. This assumption that males are more violent and the more abusive gender is a feminist lie

Blistory · 17/09/2014 19:19

So it's not that you lack humanity, it's just that you're thick and promoting an MRA agenda then Tom ?

TomLondon · 17/09/2014 19:21

As opposed to promoting feminist hate speech against men?

ApocalypseThen · 17/09/2014 19:22

This assumption that males are more violent and the more abusive gender is a feminist lie

Yes, how on earth do feminists conceal the scourge of women's violence in every aspect of public and personal life?

ScouseBird8364 · 17/09/2014 19:23

What's MRA? And Blistory, considering what Tom has just admitted in his last comment, your reply was so fucking rude, what makes him 'thick' and you obviously more intelligent than he is? Angry Hmm

Have you got a link to that report? I volunteer with the IMB and would be interested to read it.

Also, pay your child support.

Blistory · 17/09/2014 19:23

By beating the crap out of the menz and making them to scared to speak out about it of course. All part of the feminist conspiracy to rid the world of men, innit ?

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 17/09/2014 19:24

OP, yes, but if I'd just got in, turned the television on and saw it was LW, I'd have immediately turned over so wouldn't have had a clue what they were talking about. Therefore, I couldn't have logged on to MN to post a goady rant.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 17/09/2014 19:24

Here we go again more utter crap spouted in the name of equality.

And emergency placements for men experiencing DV are availible in the uk

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 17/09/2014 19:25

Is TomLondon that dude who sued a university?

basgetti · 17/09/2014 19:25

This assumption that males are more violent and the more abusive gender is a feminist lie

How did feminists manage to manipulate national crime statistics which show that men are responsible for 90% of murders?

ScouseBird8364 · 17/09/2014 19:25

NeedsaSock I didn't say there wasn't, I asked the question Hmm

OP posts:
TomLondon · 17/09/2014 19:26

Male and female victims of female violence are discouraged from coming forward. The courts and law enforcement agencies do not take them seriously.

This plays into feminist hands who can use these misleading figures to further promote their cause.

Whiskwarrior · 17/09/2014 19:26

The irony of this OP, being all shouty and not accepting that the majority on the thread think she is BVU, when she started a thread about being annoyed at people refusing to accept that they are BVU!

You couldn't make this shit up Grin

NeedsAsockamnesty · 17/09/2014 19:27

Men don't report assaults or they do? Which one is it

Blistory · 17/09/2014 19:28

I know it was rude, it was intended to be rude. I also aim the same comments as you.

But I considered his the greater offense - you know, the one where he completely denied that men have been beating the crap out of and killing women in greater numbers than the other way around.

I really can't find it in me to be polite to either him or you. You're both looking for a fight but can't take it when women can stand up to you with focused and coherent arguments.

I thought I'd bypass the pages of MRA shite that you're looking to generate and just get to the point of calling a kettle a kettle.

basgetti · 17/09/2014 19:28

Male and female victims of female violence are discouraged from coming forward.

What about dead victims? The stats there are pretty clear.

MrSheen · 17/09/2014 19:28

This assumption that males are more violent and the more abusive gender is a feminist lie

How do you account for 93.9% of people convicted of murder being male and the current prison population being around 95% male. This is despite women receiving disproportionately longer sentences for equivalent crimes. If women are so violent, where are the bodies?
