This is continuation of the previous threads. I'm hoping this can be a thread for civilised debate and discussion from people on both sides of the voting line, and where undecided voters can come and chat and get opinions.

Some of the previous threads have gone downhill. So for the sake of a good discussion can everyone please try to avoid nasty comments about the other side? References to Nazis, people being selfish, stupid, thick etc don't help anyone. This vote will be over and the votes counted in about 48 hours. After that we have to pull together whatever the outcome.

WildThong

Should we try to get to 14 before the polls open, for good luck for all?!

OneNight · 17/09/2014 23:23

I would feel more comfortable in one way with a larger majority even if it was Yes. At least that way I would have some confidence that the country was more behind whatever the result will be. With a close vote there may be a legal mandate but there's no actual one to build on.

AnnieHoo · 17/09/2014 23:24

European friends think were bonkers. Leaving the UK and drifting off on our own out of EU for years. They think it's mad that we would split when we don't have any hardship or need to do so.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/09/2014 23:24

Lovely post NC.

The world admires us

Has the world told you that? Where is your proof that the world admires you?

It's those grandiose type of Salmondesque statements that perfectly illustrate this belief that you are somehow the centre of everything.

Nearly every international editorial I've read seems to reflect a complete bemusement at what's going on in Scotland at the moment.

I'm on forums with vast international membership and tucked away in a corner there is a perhaps a thread about the Scottish referendum with a few contributors - most of whom are wondering what all the fuss is about.

People have their own lives, jobs, families, localities countries, issues - they couldn't give a shit about what's going on in Scotland, let alone 'admire' you.

squoosh · 17/09/2014 23:25

No thank you NCforAye! For being such a good sport you get to spend a night of passion with one of the following....

A)Brian Cox (no not the scientist one)
B)Blair Jenkins
C)Nicola Sturgeon.

You're welcome.

MindReader · 17/09/2014 23:25

So much for 'The Auld Alliance' if La France thought Scotland was part of England???

Well, I've had my formal response about my ds's English accent being 'the cause' of his SEN.

I will be voting NO. Sad

leavesalmondoutofit · 17/09/2014 23:25

Ok the booze is in, buying the snacks tomorrow. Blaw up beds in the living room with the telly on for the six hour independence movie. Friday is shaping up to be like ne'erday :).

I am hoping and have campaigned for a YES result. Whatever the outcome of the referendum not everyone who has been energised by this political debate will sit back down again. There are many issues where politicians are not representing their electorate but following the party line. Make a note of the surgeries of your local MP and MSP and keep speaking to them. Email is easy, and tonight I won't mention the local councillors, but their skittery ride might come to an end sooner than they think.

The lack of sleep? I feel that we have awoken, and although the feelings of anxiety are not nice, it is sooo much better than browbeaten apathy.

Best wishes for getting through tomorrow.

OneNight · 17/09/2014 23:27

We've had a French friend on the phone tonight squoosh and while one call is hardly a decent sample and he's quite clear about where Scotland is I think the response was still pretty much a shrug of shoulders.

OOAOML · 17/09/2014 23:27

off to bed soon. Up in the morning to stand nicely outside a polling station and then knock more doors. I am shattered and my feet hurt, but being involved is great.

See you tomorrow after 10pm maybe!

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:29

Good luck tomorrow OOAML! And all others whose names I don't recognise- where have you all been? Grin

WildThong · 17/09/2014 23:29

squoosh nc has come back to be nice - you might have offered her Tommy on the sunbed at least!

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 17/09/2014 23:29

Fontella I thought your post was lovely - it's how many of us are feeling. It was spiteful of Pan, no doubt about it.

Rose - great post x

Even if it was what 100% of Scottish people wanted (& knew what it was they were getting) and if we all knew they would be 'ok' and rUK would be 'ok' I would still be really, really sad about it. It is a huge bit of history, heritage etc to throw away so casually.

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:30

Oh please don't post Tommy again. I've only just got rid of that image

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/09/2014 23:31

If you don't mind me saying that's high cheese worthy of a self help manual 'Awakening Your Inner Goddess: Be The Best You You Can Be Today And Always'.

OneNight · 17/09/2014 23:32

Good night WildThong and we'll be on to Thread 14 by tomorrow remember. I just hope that whoever starts it doesn't sub-title it 'Finding 23' and confuse everyone.

Luckytwo · 17/09/2014 23:33

Oh dear eve north korea's bought in to the whole shenanigans, although if there's a no vote they won't tell their people.

People outside may be bemused but they've certainly noticed and commented upon the election. Obama, the Spanish guy, the people at the ecb to name just 3. They might not be in favour but they certainly have had opinions.

France just love to be different, vive la france !!

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:33

Grin Please no!

OneNight · 17/09/2014 23:33

What are these references to 'Tommy' ? I must have been asleep at the time.

starwarslegoboy · 17/09/2014 23:34

Frontellia
I heard it on the radio - Radio 4 today. I have a huge number of sources for my many other opinions. Shall I give you an inventory of my booklist? I'm sure I am not always right
From where can you justify your opinions?

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:34

Don't ask, OneNight, don't ask....

Grin

Night all!

OneNight · 17/09/2014 23:34

'Tommy and the sunbed' that is.
