This is continuation of the previous threads. I'm hoping this can be a thread for civilised debate and discussion from people on both sides of the voting line, and where undecided voters can come and chat and get opinions.

Some of the previous threads have gone downhill. So for the sake of a good discussion can everyone please try to avoid nasty comments about the other side? References to Nazis, people being selfish, stupid, thick etc don't help anyone. This vote will be over and the votes counted in about 48 hours. After that we have to pull together whatever the outcome.

Envious of those of you maintaining a sense of humour. Mines gone South. I long for the uncomplicated days of feminists vs MRAs, trolling and benefit bashing.

NCforAye · 17/09/2014 23:14

JustSayNoNoNo

My brain is at the stage that I saw your post and was like "hmm, I can't remember which way this poster said they're voting". Confused

I'll go get my coat and follow my sanity out of the door.

Luckytwo · 17/09/2014 23:14

I just hope there is a decent majority one way or the other.

Otherwise there is an awful time ahead.

squoosh · 17/09/2014 23:15

I'm agreeing with Neil Oliver on BBC2, this rarely happens.

AnnieHoo · 17/09/2014 23:15

Most Annoying Referendumers

Ricky Ross
Elaine C Smith
Blair Jenkins
Denis Canavan
Brian Cox
Lesley Riddoch

Not necessarily in that order.

Yes, me too. I think anything over 55% would be alright. 60% would be good, and nearer 70% even better, although it may kill me if it's a 70% Yes!

Roseformeplease · 17/09/2014 23:16

Night all.

starwarslegoboy · 17/09/2014 23:16

Oh come on. This election is historic, whatever happens.

It will be studied by politics, media, history students, and by many countries, as an example of democracy. And so it should be.

The eyes of the world are upon us. Be proud that we have been able to conduct a peaceful, democratic choice.

The world admires us

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/09/2014 23:17

If it's a 70% yes I'm leaving the country! Grin

I am really surprised how close it seems to be. By now, I expected the no campaign to be much further in the lead.

WildThong · 17/09/2014 23:18

Don't think the world cares much tbh

Luckytwo · 17/09/2014 23:18

I do understand statistically, hence my overwhelming indecision and the amazing safety of saying yes in England.
My husband is totally no, so had we been able to vote we'd have cancelled out, no great loss to either campaign.
I'm totally gutted I'm not there :(

flippinada · 17/09/2014 23:18

"I just hope there is a decent majority one way or the other. Otherwise there is an awful time ahead"

Agreed.

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:18

Grin At least I would know that No was comfortably defeated, if it was 70%!

Luckytwo · 17/09/2014 23:19

I expect it will be 60:40 no , dw stats

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:19

I think the world is baffled by the whole thing. Great that its peaceful, but they don't seem to understand what on earth Scotland is complaining about, and why it is risking the economy.

WildThong · 17/09/2014 23:20

D'ya think it's bad luck that we got stuck on thread 13?

PansOtherPeople · 17/09/2014 23:20

Am suspecting that there is a reasonably large stratum of voters who the pollsters haven't reached, and that is largely the younger ones. And the 'disenfranchised', and those disengaged by multi-media. And that those are the ones who will vote YES in the end, IF they vote at all.

starwarslegoboy · 17/09/2014 23:20

I think the world does care. Go look. it's rather amazing

Not quite the reaction you might want, but em a wee bit significant

NCforAye · 17/09/2014 23:22

Complete tangent coming here. But, I was thinking today about everything that's happened and about my experiences in the run up to the referendum and I found myself thinking of this run of threads and its regulars. Being on here has given me a much deeper understanding of people's different reasons for voting different ways and the discussions have, for the most part, left me feeling very positive about the future. Whatever the result this thread has shown that both sides are made up of passionate, clever, and determined people. Knowing that the people on this thread are out there and care about Scotland (both Yes and No voters) gives me faith in the future whatever the result. If I could elect a dream parliament it would certainly include some of the ladies here.

So, thanks to all for a good, insightful, thought-provoking, and inspiring ride. Smile

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:22

I have been looking. It is rather hard to categorise the world in one single political viewpoint, admittedly, given there's 7 billion folk in it.

squoosh · 17/09/2014 23:22

The French don't care, there was a headline in one of their papers that said something like 'The French are unconcerned, they thought Scotland was part of England'.

I can just imagine the Gallic shrug of their shoulders.

Luckytwo · 17/09/2014 23:22

And yes the eyes of the world are upon Scotland. I had a chat with as Spanish colleague today who is concerned about how the vote will go, she dies not want Spain to be broken up and they are watching this with trepidation

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:22

Lovely post NC Flowers

Night rose.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/09/2014 23:23

It could go either way with the polls as a fair number of them are done online, which tends to miss the older voters. I'm not putting much faith in them though. It's also hard to tell re younger voters - from what I've seen depending on the source, the Yes campaign have 2/3rds and the No campaign have 2/3rds!
