Shepherding the dog inside, carrying shopping - tried to hide my face but I hate that the camera got me coming in my house

Feel like my privacy is invaded

They block out faces anyway before it goes online don't they? So I wouldnt be too bothered personally

8misskitty8 · 11/09/2014 17:08

You can ask them to remove you from the image. A lady in the street near were we used to live should have done this. She was caught by the camera just as she bent over, showing half her arse as her trousers clearly didn't fit.

Me and my mum were looking at her street which was updated recently. One of the houses is just a big blurred out square. They must have asked for their entire house to be removed. Not sure why but it doesn't matter what angle you put it, you can't see the actual house just this blurred thing. But it's now a talking point in their street !

TaraRhode · 11/09/2014 17:11

I'd love to be outside mine. Doing something worthy. Cleaning windows or rescuing kittens or something.

WeileWeileWaile · 11/09/2014 17:21

Street view caught half my arse when I was bent over - I asked for it to be obscured but they took out the entire house. I'm sure that anyone who didn't see it imagines a much worse scenario than just the roaming camera catching a shot of my builder's bum.

AliceLidl · 11/09/2014 17:27

8misskitty8 perhaps they didn't ask for their house to be blurred out.

Perhaps there's something wrong with the house, like a forcefield of evil, and the camera can't capture it's image!

Do you ever get a feeling of hopeless despair as you walk by it?

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 11/09/2014 17:29

I got caught and it looks like I'm sticking my middle finger up at the car. I think I was smoking or covering my face!

madamginger · 11/09/2014 17:31

I was in my garden with my youngest DC when it did our Street a couple of years ago. I emailed them and asked them to blurr our faces. It was done within 24 hours

BramwellBrown · 11/09/2014 17:42

My Dad was caught leaning leaning against his van chatting to a very pretty young lady who is about 40 years younger than him, completely innocent but my mum does love to tease him about it.

I'm sure if you ask they will blur you out the picture.

desertmum · 11/09/2014 17:56

how do you get a streetview of where you live ?

FruVikingessOla · 11/09/2014 17:56

The latest one of our house shows me walking down our front path taking out our recycling bags (but at least they've pixilated my face)!

I had no idea until DP found it and told me Blush Grin

Selks · 11/09/2014 18:04

My cat is on google streetview, Smile

chinup2011 · 11/09/2014 18:04

I've just got a nice new front door and want my house photographed again

DoTheStrand · 11/09/2014 18:05

Alice your post really made me laugh (personally I only get a sense of despair walking past my own house).

I was caught by street view, you can see me at various points walking up our road. I look awful on it (my first thought when I saw it was 'I went out looking like that??') but thankfully it's just my back view (it did inspire me to lose a stone though).

I didn't realise you could be pixilated out - do you think they'd photoshop me a better outfit instead.

Weirdbeard · 11/09/2014 18:07

The StreetView car caught me bending over, stark naked.

I had to drive like a maniac to get in position before it came round the corner.

FruVikingessOla · 11/09/2014 18:23

"how do you get a streetview of where you live ?"

Go onto Google Maps, input your exact address, i.e. 50 Acacia Avenue, Acacia Town. It will then find your road and an approximation of your house number. Then click on 'more' which will give you the option of 'Streetview'. You can 'navigate' around it from there.

Sunflowersareblue · 11/09/2014 18:24

True story: I was watching tv at home when suddenly the program I was watching went off and a still picture of the outside of my house went on the TV. I looked outside to see who was outside and what jiggery pokery was going on...and saw the google car with its cameras on the pole above was going past.

Spooky!

Weirdbeard · 11/09/2014 19:00

Sunflowersareblue: That's hilarious but absolutely made up and completely impossible. :-)

desertmum · 11/09/2014 19:11

Fru - thank you - it works except we live down a track so can only see our gates - very disappointed not to see myself in the garden in my jammies Smile

popmimiboo · 11/09/2014 20:04

I was caught bumping my car up the curb to park outside the house. DH hates me to park out front and for a quiet life I swear blind that I always, always park nicely round the back even if I'm only popping in for 5 minutes Blush

TheCunnyFunt · 11/09/2014 20:10

misskitty you could be talking about Weile!

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 11/09/2014 20:12

Just checked ours (last time I checked you could see no one outside our house) and you can now see the DC playing nicely together in the garden. So I am guessing they updated it pretty recently.

Pixel · 11/09/2014 20:22

Ours definitely hasn't been updated in a long while. My neighbour's car is parked but she got rid of it a few years ago, and another neighbour's car is on his drive but he moved out to a nursing home ages ago and has since died Sad.

Do they do regular updates or is it just random?

Fairenuff · 11/09/2014 20:25

First this, "A lady in the street near were we used to live should have done this. She was caught by the camera just as she bent over, showing half her arse as her trousers clearly didn't fit.

Me and my mum were looking at her street which was updated recently. One of the houses is just a big blurred out square".

And then this,

"Street view caught half my arse when I was bent over - I asked for it to be obscured but they took out the entire house."

What are the chances Grin

LavaDragonflies · 11/09/2014 20:27

They have the date at the bottom of the page - or at least the year. Ours is 6 years out of date. I was in when they came past last time and saw the car go past.

Passmethecrisps · 11/09/2014 20:28

My parents now deceased dog is on street view. He is just standing there smiling with his tongue hanging out. Makes me laugh every time I see it.
