To hate Barbara Windsor.....

and her Jackpot Balls?

I'm usually quite tolerant of naff adverts but this is just lewd and cringeworthy and makes me want to throw things at the TV.

Such innuendo aimed at women on daytime tv is now, thankfully, unacceptable so what sort of message is this ad sending?

She's a disgrace to modern women and should have retired years ago.

This made my bra fall off Smile

MammaTJ · 09/09/2014 10:38

Will you burn it now Curlyweasel or put it back on as the straight jacket it is meant to be? Grin

DuelingFanjo · 09/09/2014 10:44

isn't she hugely in debt so has to do these shitty ads to pay it all back?

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 09/09/2014 10:47

Hate is a bit strong but I can't bear her. Her voice makes my teeth itch

WitchWay · 09/09/2014 10:48

Agree it's bloody awful

mumtobetothree · 09/09/2014 10:49

Hate is a very strong emotion to apply to someone that you probably don't know. I'm not a particular fan of hers, and those ads are pretty cringeworthy, but to 'hate' someone? Idk, seems a bit much if you ask me!

mysticpizza · 09/09/2014 10:54

I hate her. I hate Ray Winstone. In fact I hate any washed up sleb the gambling industry thinks will appeal to the proles who whores themselves out advertising it.

YANBU

Curlyweasel · 09/09/2014 10:57

I think YABU to expect anything different from Babs tbh.

I can just about bear her voice - it's her laugh that makes me want to throw up...

Curlyweasel · 09/09/2014 10:59

YY to Ray Winstone. Can sort of understand it when they use footballers etc - at least there's some relevance - but don't get the Ray/Babs thing... is it because they're from Laahndan I wonder?

Spanglecrab · 09/09/2014 11:04

I had this very conversation with my Dad the other day. He said surely she has enough money and doesn't need to stoop to adverts like that one. I didn't know she was in debt though I will pass the info on.

Dad is a black taxi driver in London and the rumour on the circuit is that Babs expects to travel for free and gets a bit nasty when she is asked to pay! Shock

Tittifilarious · 09/09/2014 11:16

Can't bear her.

I remmeber when Sid James dies and she was all "oh yes, I was his true love" and lots of tales about how obsessed he was with her but his WIFE was still alive and presumably grieving.

Yes, I know, he was the married one yada yada but common decency would have made most people hold their tongue surely?

SistersOfPercy · 09/09/2014 11:23

YANBU but she's still ten times better than a dancing cactus....

ThinkFirst · 09/09/2014 11:41

Can't stand her, not least for the 5! pregnancies she terminated just because she didn't want children. I agree women have the right but surely you'd not let yourself get into that situation 5 times.

cleanmachine · 09/09/2014 11:44

I met her once. She was horrible and walked off just as my ds said 'mum look it's Peggy. ..' really really offhand.

Oldraver · 09/09/2014 11:49

Cant stand the woman and her screechy voice

Alisvolatpropiis · 09/09/2014 11:54

Yanbu. I loathe her.

Think having an abortion because she "just didn't want children" is a valid reason to have one. Though she could have worked on her choice of contraception.

GoringBit · 09/09/2014 11:56

I'm originally from just outside east London, and these Mockney types irritate the life out of me - there usually seems to be a nasty sort underneath the cheery salt-of-the-earth surface. My dad's cousin had an unpleasant encounter with either Chas or Dave, so the BW stories aren't a big surprise, sadly.

blackcats73 · 09/09/2014 11:59

I agree what a selfish self absorbed throw back to the seventies.

ThinkFirst · 09/09/2014 12:16

Alisvolatpropiis I agree with you on it being a valid reason, what I object to is the amount of times she did it. You'd think after the first, or even second time someone would make sure they didn't get pregnant again.

Alisvolatpropiis · 09/09/2014 12:18

I'm inclined to agree with you there Think

NoArmaniNoPunani · 09/09/2014 12:21

I'm just as offended by the Harvey Keitel ad. Surely he's not broke?

Curlyweasel · 09/09/2014 12:32

Doubt Al Pacino is either, but that didn't stop him doing the SKY ad. It does make you wonder what motivates them (surely it can't be the money all the time?).

Bifauxnen · 09/09/2014 12:36

Dont care either way about Babs but am a bit gutted to hear that Chas and/or Dave was ever unpleasant. (Especially if it's Dave.)

GoringBit · 09/09/2014 12:39

Sorry Bifauxnen, but one of them was rude to a child in a wheelchair. I was Shock

BustyDeLaGhetto · 09/09/2014 12:41

Lalalala won't hear a bad word against her. I wrote to her when my dad was dying (big Carry On fan) to ask for a signed picture to cheer him up when he was starting fucking chemo. She sent one through with a wonderful message within a day and she and her young beau kept in touch right up till he died.

It really touched him in his last months so fuck all y'all swagger
