Tbh ItsALL I think the No campaign hasn't had the "keyboard warriors" or Facebook users spamming folk the way that Yes has done SOOOO successfully.

Hi weatherall!

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 14:56

They're not breaking the purdah, no. The purdah only applies to the actual government, not to political parties. they've been quite careful that this is being launched by political parties I think

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 14:57

Thanks itsallgoingtobefine see, I'm not just a big box of negative energy Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 14:59

depends on your perspective Rita. If you think of it as "Scotland's vote" vs everywhere else's, or if you think of it as "every person in the UK has one vote in the general election."

I think the latter. You think the former (or a version of)

CKDexterHaven · 09/09/2014 15:06

I don't get the 'My family is going to be living in a different country and be broken up' comments. It's not going to be North and South Korea. I'm pretty sure there aren't going to be snipers on the border.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 09/09/2014 15:06

Scotland is either a country or it isn't. In a general election I'm voting for Scottish labour, Scottish lib dem etc. I see, for now, that Scotland is one of the four countries that makes up the UK.

We are completely without a voice when voting as part of the UK.

I'll be ashamed if there's a no vote. Scotland will no longer be a country. We'll be saying that we don't believe in ourselves and rolling over, silencing ourselves for ever more.

A meek voiceless entity in the north of Britain.

Nothing to be proud of.

Some of the questions asked so far on the thread for tomorrow's Q&A with Alex Salmond and Alasdair Darling are just embarrassing!! Blush

Been out, thread moves fast!!!!!!!

got to dash to collect kids but just wanted to say:

English racism disgusts me as much as Scottish racism.
A fair amount of it you can 'laugh off'

But a SEN child being told by the Director of Education for a whole Scottish region that he cant spell because he speaks like his parents (with an English accent) is so disgusting I still cant quite believe it.
(good thing I have it on tape, really!)

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 15:09

That's your opinion. I'm not ashamed of my no vote. I'm not saying I don't believe in Scotland, I'm saying I believe in Scotland as a part of the union.

I'm perfectly proud of my voting choice.

WildThong · 09/09/2014 15:09

rita that is very negative.
I see a no vote as saying I am proud of my country and want to do well as part of it.

WildThong · 09/09/2014 15:11

Which ones annie not mine I hope

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/09/2014 15:14

I see a no vote as saying I am proud of my country and want to do well as part of it.

I see a no vote as what it is: 'No I don't think Scotland should be independent. Yes, I think decisions about Scotland should be made in WM rather than by those who live in that country."

And frankly, I think that is a ridiculous position, and if Scotland votes No we will have make ourselves ridiculous in the eyes of the world AND conceded that we are just North Britain, not a country at all.

No Wildthong! The vast majority are good - i should have posted something more encouraging! We've had some great discussion on here and I'm sure we could develop some robust questions to ask them.

CKDexterHaven · 09/09/2014 15:16

If, as so many claim, the 'Yes' vote is driven by hatred of the English, is the 'No' vote driven by hatred of the poor?

Polonium · 09/09/2014 15:19

An awful lot of decisions about Scotland are already made in Scotland.

Where do you think decisions about the Lake District are made? Because it's not in the Lake District.

If you vote yes you make yourself look ridiculous in the eyes of the world.

No CK the downsides of Independence imo will be felt by the poor of Scotland. And I don't think I've ever said the Yes vote is driven by hatred. It's an element for some folk though.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 15:20

Thanks for that ItsAll. My vote is anything but ridiculous Angry. I don't call anyone else's vote ridiculous even if I don't agree with it. Have the respect not to do so to mine.

That's also not what I am saying. You know that fine well, because you said you'd read my positive reasons post. I believe that, especially with the additional powers, we have the best of both worlds with decisions that are more particular to Scotland able to be made here, and those which are not made in Westminster by a larger forum representing all of the members of the UK. That is a balance I am more than happy with because I do not believe in sub dividing in to ever smaller countries on what I view as relatively small differences.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/09/2014 15:22

My No vote is driven by my love of the UK, the whole wonderful country, which would not be the same without Scotland. I love living in Scotland - as it is now, it is a wonderful place to live. I don't want the country I love ripped apart, and if am sure it will not be the wonderful, place it is, if Scotland leaves the UK.

There is no hatred here.

WildThong · 09/09/2014 15:23

Well thanks itsall and CK now I am ridiculous for being proud to be part of the UK and I also hate the poor! WM represents the UK, which I am proud to be a part of, this is my view, which the last time I looked, I was entitled to. I won't be bullied out of it either.

"Hatred of the poor" if anything should be called ridiculous that is it. I've a mind to report that for being goady.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/09/2014 15:25

Shock The UK has surrendered to Scotland Shock The Saltire is now flying after a few attempts over Downing Street.

Saltire refuses to be raised over Downing Street!:

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 15:25

CK that is a disgusting thing to say. A few threads back some posters started accusing no voters of not understanding about caring about poverty. They were wrong then, and you are wrong now.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/09/2014 15:27

WildThong Statistically I never said you were ridiculous Thanks I said that I felt the point of view that a country should not govern itself was ridiculous. The ball is ridiculous, not the player IYSWIM.
