To ask if you allow your 3yo to go to the loo alone out and about?

Say if you were in a restaurant, cafe, pub, or similar public space, would you allow your 3 yo to go to the loo alone? Trying to work out if my attitudes to this are 'normal'.

No, absolutely not.

Floggingmolly · 30/08/2014 21:22

No, of course not!

No, but only because she's not tall enough to get on the toilet, or wash her hands. My friends dd is 3 and she's tall enough, so she goes alone if we can see the door.

SantanaLopez · 30/08/2014 21:24

No way.

BigfootFiles · 30/08/2014 21:24

No.

Xmasbaby11 · 30/08/2014 21:25

No

Theyaremysunshine · 30/08/2014 21:25

Of course not.

atticusclaw · 30/08/2014 21:25

Omg no way

I don't let my seven year old go alone.

CMOTDibbler · 30/08/2014 21:26

No. Ds has gone on his own from 7

Idontseeanysontarans · 30/08/2014 21:26

No for 2 reasons: hygiene and safety.

ilovepowerhoop · 30/08/2014 21:26

no, but I do let my 7 year old go by himself now

wingcommandergallic · 30/08/2014 21:26

Nope. She would struggle to just open doors, get onto toilet and reach sink.

To be honest, I can't imagine letting her go to the loo alone until she's at least 6 or 7.

NerfHerder · 30/08/2014 21:26

The doors are usually way too heavy for small children to manage alone, anything else aside.

NewEraNewMindset · 30/08/2014 21:27

Someone please link to that horrendous case where the children were sexually assaulted in a fast food restaurant toilet whilst their parents sat eating their meal outside. Horrendous, please don't take any risks, at 3 they are still tiny.

Mommypolls8 · 30/08/2014 21:27

Not a chance!

ILovePud · 30/08/2014 21:28

No because a. may leave the loo in a state b. would probably not wash hands c. (remote) risk of assault. tbh I think three is too young to do most things alone whilst out.

sunnyrosegarden · 30/08/2014 21:28

No. I let my 7 year old if I can see the door. Ds1 is 10, and he goes on his own in service stations etc.

hmc · 30/08/2014 21:28

God no (I have a 10 and 12 year old but I do remember)

Lonelynessie · 30/08/2014 21:29

No way, I never let my 3 year old go alone. I still go with my dd who is 8 (had very bad experiences in the past) so although I know dd will be fine, I do go with her and wait outside.

chocomochi · 30/08/2014 21:29

No! I would let them go if the cubicle is too small and I would wait outside the cubicle for them.

Pico2 · 30/08/2014 21:29

No, but she wouldn't be willing to either.

Molotov · 30/08/2014 21:30

No way. Dd1 is 5yo and still gets scared going to the toilet alone in our house!

I think I was about 15yo before I was allowed to go to public toilets unaccompanied (only child Grin )

hashtagwhatever · 30/08/2014 21:30

Never.

forago · 30/08/2014 21:31

no way, way too early. Primarily for hygiene reasons.
