The ice bucket challenge video. (Don't think I have seen a thread about it)

I just don't find it funny and I think it's quite disgusting that a child of that age (no older than 4) would say "fucking hell"

OP posts:
SublimeCorpse · 28/08/2014 22:11

I read that her 40 year old grandmother said she got the language from going to restaurants Hmm

notquiteruralbliss · 28/08/2014 22:11

Really not bothered by the language - my (highly articulate) DCs would think nothing of using similar language at that age. Not mad keen on the whole ice bucket thing though. Or on putting children's every move on FB.

Bambambini · 28/08/2014 22:46

I might be just as judgy about things but reading this thread- the superiority, judging and prejudice against "those types, chavs, grandmother at 37, look what they call their kids, must all be true as it's in the mail" Hyacinth Bucket bitching and frothing is coming across more vile than anything on the video (which I haven't actually watched)

WaltJesseMikeGus · 28/08/2014 23:04

Because all those media experts working in that environment for years, editing day in and day out have been fooled! However, here on MN we know our stuff.

Damn. How could I be so ignorant?

And many of those "media experts" spend their time twisting, lying, manipulating, etc...

WaltJesseMikeGus · 28/08/2014 23:11

"those types, chavs

No one on this thread has called them chavs or even said "those types". Hmm

The word chav was used once, and it was not directed to the child or her parents/grandparents.

must all be true as it's in the mail

One person linked to the Daily Mail and since then only 10 comments have been posted after that - none relating to the Mail.

It was not even mentioned before.

Hyacinth Bucket bitching and frothing

Because saying you find a 3 year old saying "fucking hell" disgusting is frothing? Ok .....

So sure you can have a rant about people on this thread, but at least get your facts straight first.

PeaPod, Walt...you seem very assured that I am in no way connected to popular news media and have no insider knowledge...well, if you say so, given that you have nil evidence either way Wink

Bambambini I've found a nice wall against which to bang my head if you want to join me, whilst OP carries on splitting hairs.

Well folks, I am going to love you and leave you to it on this thread...this has been fun, which is all it was ever meant to be, I'm sure. xxxxxxx

Lally112 · 29/08/2014 02:20

I wouldn't have put it online for the world to see but it does happen, regardless of how you try to shelter your children. My son told me last week that my car was a 'fucking bastard'. What had happened was it had slipped the jack while dh was underneath fixing the exhaust and came down on the tyre DH had put under it and given him a fright when he saw two and a half tonne of truck closing in on him.

Sad thing is I saw a fb post from a girl i went to school with to her DP saying 'OMG we should totally get [their DD's name] to do this'. the video might have been dubbed but its still pretty sad that people find it funny.

I can't hoik my judgy pants up too much though coz I nearly wet myself when DD (who was about 2 at the time) yelled fuck, fuck, fuck at my very prim and proper grandma and her friends, she was pointing out a duck.

AngryBeaver · 29/08/2014 02:47

I laughed, it was such a shock, she was so cute until that!
I'm a swearer, but never infront of my kids and if anyone else does it I cringe or ask them to desist.
I think that little girl must have watched someone else's challenge and that's what they said at the end, then she parroted.
Hoping that's the case and she doesn't walk around exclaiming "fuckin' 'ell!" On a regular basis...

GoneGirlGone · 29/08/2014 03:20

What made me Shock more was the child's brother's name. Can't recall it now but read it in the Mail!

KanyeBeArsed · 29/08/2014 07:03

I believe you are the one splitting hairs Kanye dear - I think your little speech and your "insider knowledge" comment assures me of the fact you don't have a clue

No shit Sherlock...the wink was supposed to say just that but seems like you missed that.

Not sure I understand your other comments...is it some reference to a high horse and therefore being in nose bleed territory? That's quite good. I must use that myself!

KanyeBeArsed · 29/08/2014 07:05

And yes I know I said I was out but it's just too funny. So sue me. Grin

WaltJesseMikeGus · 29/08/2014 08:39

Always quite awkward when someone makes a big speech about leaving a thread because they love to think of themselves as superior .... and then they comment again ....

OP posts:
KanyeBeArsed · 29/08/2014 08:52

Well I will take that in the spirit in which I hope it was intended, and confirm that quitting whilst ahead is a totally foreign concept to me! Grin

....but when did I say I thought I was superior? I do, of course, because I am, but when did I say it?? Grin Grin Grin

LittlePeaPod · 29/08/2014 08:58

Really, trying to start a bum fight on a thread talking about whether people think its not OK for a toddler to swear? [Hmm] Some people would start an argument with themselves in a dark room!

KanyeBeArsed · 29/08/2014 09:03

Bum fight?????

I'm not even trying to start a bun fight!

KanyeBeArsed · 29/08/2014 09:04

But bum fight sounds much more fum!!! [sic]

I thought I was the only one that didn't find this funny! It is on my Facebook feed numerous times saying aww how cuteShock I find it awful and extremely embarrassing for the family.

PistolWhipped · 29/08/2014 09:39

Don't diss the Daily Mail.

LittlePeaPod · 29/08/2014 09:43

Pistol Grin

Methe · 29/08/2014 09:53

I found it funny but I would die of shame if one of my children behaved like that.

Walsall is rough as you like.

CatThiefKeith · 29/08/2014 14:16

I've never seen a bum fight. Can I watch? Grin
