DH got a delivery this morning....

My DD2 is a nightmare. She screams and cries if I put her in the pram, she's impossible to pacify in a restaurant or shopping etc...

So DH says this is the solution.

She's been quiet for 15 minutes!!!! Shock

To love this buggy!

If you are resorting to an iPad now, good luck for the toddler years!

walton before I had DS though, I saw my cousin's Jumperoo and went away laughing and shaking my head at the idea of a giant bouncy thing with flashing lights taking up half the living room.

Then I had one and I couldn't get one fast enough once he started showing an interest in toys.

Horses for courses, and all that.

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 17:20

Chubby - I do have an older child. I am aware of behaviour and development Hmm

And I haven't done such a bad job actually, my DD1 is a lovely child. So don't worry about it, okay? Hth.

How can you do zero screen time? Esp with a second or third? The TV is going to be on at some point!

ArsenicyOldFace · 23/08/2014 17:22

I'm guessing that 14 days at disneyland is expensive...... I assume that's what the pp is referring to when she talks about insensitivity.

You guessed incorrectly Poppy

What do you mean, good luck for the toddler years?!

People are treating this iPad as if it's fucking heroin. Get a grip! It's an iPad! She's not strapping it to a helmet and placing it 2 inches away from her baby's nose! She is entertaining her child in boring places. She has to shop, she has to eat, she has to queue up, whether she's on holiday or no. It's courteous to other people around you to try your utmost to keep your child passive in close quarters. So many threads on here moaning about a shrieking toddler in these situations.

And as for insensitivity... Leave MN before Christmas. Seriously. For your own health. People spend more than £100 odd on a cheap buggy. You'll give yourself 3rd degree friction burns clutching your pearls so hard.

ziggiestardust · 23/08/2014 17:28

mary me too, this thread is making me jealous! Make sure you post a review of where you stayed on the long haul travel bit when you get back OP! I want to hear all about it after all this fuss!

Nothing to do with the buggy. Or the holiday.

OP has insisted a tablet with appropriate software is essential to the development of her DC with SN. She would not climb down from the word "essential".

There will be parents of babies with SN who will struggle to access that. Lots of families with DC who have SN are on tiny budgets.

It is important to put the alternative view that other (non electronic) materials are just as good for encouraging development. That is all.

Small but important point that any paediatrician should confirm. Might matter to some lurker who is worried, however.

This frothiness is pathetic.

She is using it mainly for her holiday which she explained in other posts.

Is it ideal? no, but it's not exactly a massive issue is it? the child will be happy, the parents get to eat or walk around without a child screaming, win win.

I think if it used all the time when the OP takes her to the shops and stops interacting with her dd then there is a problem. OP does not strike me as the sort to do that.

A lot of fuss about nothing.

Prepare yourself georgie the evening crowd will be here soon Grin just joking.

Have a lovely holiday, bring me back some Mickey ears Wink

ArsenicyOldFace · 23/08/2014 17:35

The fact not everyone has one is neither here nor there, really.

You're quite right, it isn't.

They're not needed.

They are certainly NOT essential kit for DC with SEN, so it's all good.

gamerchick · 23/08/2014 17:36

Heh I knew when I saw ipad in the hood this would be an amusing thread... Grin

If mine was interested in screens, any screens at that age I would have gone for something like this if it was available.. He screamed for years.

Gorgeous bairn OP.. well done.
