to go back the hospital?

I am 40+12 and yet one more night of absolutely fuck all happening has tipped me over the edge. I am sick of being patient.

I am booked for induction on Wednesday (my choice - I wanted to give the baby the chance to come spontaneously).

My parents leave today not having met their new grandchild Sad . I will have precisely no other visitors when the baby does arrive.

I have felt a reduction in movement since yesterday which my mother assured me was him getting ready to come imminently but that everything online says not to accept as normal.

DP was in a cycling accident on Friday and has fractured his wrist and needs surgery this weekend which means I will be totally alone with no help with DD and a brand new baby in the first days of his life.

I woke up today and burst into tears.

AIBU to go to the Maternity Assessment Centre without ringing first (the person I spoke to last time was so stupid she couldn't manage to write my name down after THREE attempts) and have them check the baby is ok?

Also can I ask for a sweep there?

I had one a week ago on Friday which did nothing.

Sorry for rambling. It's hard to type in a phone through tears.

Can anyone offer me any experience or advice?

I recommend having sex while eating a very hot curry, washed down with raspberry leaf tea.

You can thank me later!

confusedgirlfromtheShire · 12/08/2014 11:26

Agree completely with hiddenhome. Not sure what the hospital is playing at here. Did they give you an explanation as to why they are waiting a further 24 hours after waters breaking before the induction process is started?

Wishing you lots of luck.

hellsbellsmelons · 12/08/2014 11:40

Sorry but shamelessly place marking.
I hope it all goes well today.

jeanmiguelfangio · 12/08/2014 12:04

Shamelessly marking my place- get out babybunny, we are all waiting

Heathcliff27 · 12/08/2014 12:26

Don't think advising OP to have sex is wise, her waters have already gone

BertieBotts · 12/08/2014 12:32

YY you can't have sex now.

Maybe painless contractions is a good thing?? You'll just breathe the baby out?

Am sure syntocinon drip wouldn't be the end of the world, after all isn't this what it was invented for? And the risks come when it's used just because they want to speed things up rather than a medical need to speed things up?

Fingers crossed for you it gets moving soon.

monkeyfacegrace · 12/08/2014 12:32

More than 24 hours is fine, stop putting the frighteners on.

Both of my labours started with waters breaking. The second time, I didn't get contractions for 3 days later.

BertieBotts · 12/08/2014 12:33

Walking up and down stairs is supposed to be good. Or try to sleep as much as you can, get your strength up.

And keep poking baby to wake him up, any reduction in movements get ye back to the hospital.

PurplePidjin · 12/08/2014 12:41

I had syntocin after 30 odd hours of labour with ds - waters had gone at 10pm on a Saturday, he arrived at 8am on the Monday nobody spotted i was dehydrated till then grr

It was fine. Painful, but short-lived. There was a 2 hour wait for an epidural and I just wanted it over with. Once the drip was in I think it was 30 minutes till i had my baby to snuggle Thanks

confusedgirlfromtheShire · 12/08/2014 12:56

For me in 2010, more than 24 hours between waters breaking and delivery meant 3 days in hospital post delivery waiting for blood results and cultures to come back. This was as per "standard NHS procedure" as was explained to me at the time. All tests came back clear fortunately. My own induction was well underway at the point my waters broke. To not even have started the induction process until 24 hours after waters breaking is odd to my mind (but I am not a medical professional), so I am hoping they have explained why they are taking this approach to the OP?

iwantgin · 12/08/2014 15:35

Oh Good luck OP

Fingers crossed things will ramp up before tonight.

naturalbaby · 12/08/2014 15:38

Ask for a stretch and sweep. I really wanted a home birth and my waters went so my mw did a very thorough one and I had a baby 7hrs later!

Star8369 · 12/08/2014 15:48

any news?

Doobledootch · 12/08/2014 15:50

When my waters went I had a couple of pessaries that was enough to start contractions, so it doesn't have to be the drip straightaway unless that's what you want of course.

tuckingfablet · 12/08/2014 15:51

oooh hope you have baby bunny now op.

AliMonkey · 12/08/2014 16:51

I was induced 48 hours after waters breaking and delivered about 24 hours later. Took samples when went in to be checked out after waters broke which arrived back as I went into labour. (Unfortunately had strep B so meant we had to stay in hospital 4 days to administer antibiotics to DD). That was all my hospital's standard procedure then (2005). NICE guidelines is induction after 24 hours. So stop worrying the OP by saying 24 hours not appropriate!

PacificDogwood · 12/08/2014 17:03

Still thinking of you here and hoping that your last update is now outdated.

Fingers crossed for you Thanks

SweetTeaVodka · 12/08/2014 18:42

Hoping you are snuggling a newborn, or if not will be very soon, and that's why we haven't heard more from you, Bunny. Flowers

So exciting!!!!
Sending you best wishes for an easy delivery!

jessiemummy28 · 12/08/2014 19:39

Hope everything is going well OP!

OooOooTheMonkey · 12/08/2014 19:59

Hope it's all going well Bunny.
I had an induction which started 24 hours after my waters broke as nothing happened naturally. I then gave birth 34 hours after that so the 24 hour thing is normal.
Hope yours is going quicker than mine did OP! Thanks

AtYourCervix · 12/08/2014 20:10
