to go back the hospital?

I am 40+12 and yet one more night of absolutely fuck all happening has tipped me over the edge. I am sick of being patient.

I am booked for induction on Wednesday (my choice - I wanted to give the baby the chance to come spontaneously).

My parents leave today not having met their new grandchild Sad . I will have precisely no other visitors when the baby does arrive.

I have felt a reduction in movement since yesterday which my mother assured me was him getting ready to come imminently but that everything online says not to accept as normal.

DP was in a cycling accident on Friday and has fractured his wrist and needs surgery this weekend which means I will be totally alone with no help with DD and a brand new baby in the first days of his life.

I woke up today and burst into tears.

AIBU to go to the Maternity Assessment Centre without ringing first (the person I spoke to last time was so stupid she couldn't manage to write my name down after THREE attempts) and have them check the baby is ok?

Also can I ask for a sweep there?

I had one a week ago on Friday which did nothing.

Sorry for rambling. It's hard to type in a phone through tears.

Can anyone offer me any experience or advice?

You might be having gentle ones you can't feel. I was contracting with DS2 but didn't even realise until they did a trace.

Good luck.

ADHDNoodles · 12/08/2014 01:11

Ooh good!! I'm glad everything is working ok!! Grin

DD decided to stop moving as much the last couple weeks of pregnancy. They kept putting monitors on her to make sure she was ok. Then I got high blood pressure, and then heavy cervical bleeding. She was fine. Just making an early dramatic entrance.

But for the future, as I'm sure you know, it's better to be told you're being silly by the doctors than to have a real emergency and do nothing about it. Babies will do that. Spike a fever, then be fine once you rush them in. Or cough, then be fine once you're at the doctor's. But it's better you rush them in, than to not.

But yay!! Baby day!! Thanks

Good luck!!

ophiotaurus · 12/08/2014 01:27

Hope everything goes well!
Glad you have your dad there to help. Especially with DHs arm!

BunnyLebowski · 12/08/2014 04:53

I'm still here.

DP and I both fell asleep. I woke up an hour ago and had a minor panic that baby wasn't moving. One ice cold glass of water later he was bopping Grin .

Still no pains. The tightenings are a bit.....well...tighter.....presumably due to the reduction in fluid. My bump looks really odd!

Come on baby!

Bunny good luck Smile

Just to say I had no real pain with contractions yet managed to dialate to 4cm before waters properly went and everything kicked off! So no pain means nothing!

SpottyTeacakes · 12/08/2014 05:46

Oh bunny good luck! I'm off to work in a sec and won't be back for a good ten hours so hopefully there'll be a baby by then!

SweetTeaVodka · 12/08/2014 06:22

Ooh a birth thread, how exciting. Hoping it won't be much longer for you Bunny!

AtYourCervix · 12/08/2014 06:30

Morning. I'm up, awake and ready.

Come On BabyBunny!!!!!!!

greenhill · 12/08/2014 07:19

Hope all is good with you and that baby bunny will be safely along soon!

RoseTheHat · 12/08/2014 07:21

Good Luck Bunny!

Blondieminx · 12/08/2014 07:39

Fingers crossed that you are head sniffing right now Grin

PacificDogwood · 12/08/2014 07:41

I am hoping the radio silence means there is some action? Yes?!

Good luck, Bunny

Harrietsferrets · 12/08/2014 07:41

Fingers crossed its soon. About the no pains, there is something the midwife called silent labour and I had it with the second of mine. There are contractions but you can't feel them. You could see them on the trace but no pain at all, it was the weirdest thing to have as we watched the traces jump up and down and the bump tighten.

BunnyLebowski · 12/08/2014 07:54

Still nothing really happening Sad.

Waters seems to have stopped for now. My bump is still tightening loads but that's about it. It feels like the baby might be asleep.

Starting to fret a wee bit about induction tonight.

I've been up since 4am. Off now to walk to the shops. Maybe that'll get him moving.

Very exciting! Hope all goes well & quickly for all of you & glad your dad was able to stay & help.

amy83firsttimer · 12/08/2014 07:59

Good luck bunny.

Chocoholic36 · 12/08/2014 08:32

Ohh how exciting.

Bunny my waters had gone with ds3 and I wa getting tightening a but no pain. When I went in for induction I was 7cms. They had to induce me and he was born 40 minutes later.

I am going for 7 - 8pm tonight. Good luck

KenAdams · 12/08/2014 08:32

I did a lot of walking after my waters went. I had no pain until 18 hours later. Won't they start induction 24 hours after your waters break?

OooOooTheMonkey · 12/08/2014 09:24

Eek how exciting! A love birth thread Hope it all goes well! not placemarking at all no not me

OooOooTheMonkey · 12/08/2014 09:25

Live! Stupid autocorrect. Apt though Grin

Iseechickens · 12/08/2014 09:46

Good Luck OP. With DC2 my water went but no pains or anything, went in after 24hrs for induction and I was 6cm dilated and in no pain! DS was born 2hrs later.

BunnyLebowski · 12/08/2014 09:50

I want to snog you both Chocoholic and Isee! If I can be like either of you I'll be deliriously happy!

Ken - yeah my waters went at 10pm last night so I'll be induced at 10pm tonight if nothing has happened by then. Presumably they'll want to go with the syntocin drip which I'm really really anxious to avoid. Grrr.

hiddenhome · 12/08/2014 09:56

Tell them to give you a section. You need to deliver within 24 hours of your waters going to avoid infection. If they were going to induce you, they should have started by now.

Geordiegirl79 · 12/08/2014 10:02

Is there any way you can postpone the induction if you feel like things are starting to happen? Buy a bit of time for Babybunny to make an appearance on his own? I kept putting my induction date back and back for DS2 and in the end he decided to arrive by himself.

It's a tough time being so overdue, have been through it twice so I definitely sympathise.

Geordiegirl79 · 12/08/2014 10:04

Oh sorry I think I somehow missed the waters breaking info...lack of sleep!
