To be pissed off that mnhq claim they don't like to delete threads but do it constantly?

Another one has just gone. One which could have done with staying and just having certain posts deleted.

Not even a deletion message.

Ffs.

I don't think they do it lightly. Didn't see the one you are on about, but there was a shocking one on here yesterday that took an hour to delete (presumably because they are very busy). Have seen many others which I would definitely delete because I am prudish and all that, but which do stay here in the interests of free speech.

maggiethemagpie · 03/08/2014 21:18

They deleted the one I started the other day about Peaches Geldof, and I only found out because it got in the daily mail! I was wondering where it had gone, no email or anything, but was pleased to see it got a mention in the mail online, and felt that it getting in the national press was sort of compensations for it being deleted in the first place.

FreeSpirit89 · 03/08/2014 21:20

What was the tread?

WatchingSeaMonkeys · 03/08/2014 21:46

The "they shouldn't have laughed one" - but people were getting stupid on both sides of the argument on that thread so probably for the best...

Hurr1cane · 03/08/2014 21:47

Oh I saw that one. I chose not to get involved because people were being ridiculous.

TrinityRhino · 03/08/2014 21:49

I got told off on that one

and I didn't even post about the actual issue

NewtRipley · 03/08/2014 21:49

Once it gets to a point that the thread is making no sense due to the number of deletions, the whole thing needs to go.

I don't really understand why people get so irate about whole-thread deletions. It's not the end of the world.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 03/08/2014 21:50

Oh! I meant to read that "shouldn't of laughed" one but didn't. What was it about? Roughly?

WatchingSeaMonkeys · 03/08/2014 21:51

Can't tell you, MNHQ would track me down & delete me......

Mintyy · 03/08/2014 21:56

Generally, yanbu op.

I prefer warts-and-all Mumsnet to cleaned-up-to-keep-the-advertisers happy Mumsnet.

SaucyJack · 03/08/2014 21:58

YANBU. We're all grown-ups. We don't need censoring or protecting from people who use Rude Words.

thereturnofshoesy · 03/08/2014 21:59

i think mn hq should have left that thread, the op was goading and there were so many holes in her story it had to be made up.
I think by deleting it people don't see why people from the sn community get so bloody fed up.
I do hope the shit for brains people who jumped on the op's bandwagon feel ashamed now

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/08/2014 22:00

I'm not surprised that thread went.

ArsenicFaceCream · 03/08/2014 22:02

A secret deleted thread about laughing? Hmm

Altinkum · 03/08/2014 22:04

This reply has been deleted

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Mintyy · 03/08/2014 22:05

Why not just lock threads, rather than deleting them? Its a question which has been asked hundreds of times.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 03/08/2014 22:10

It was started by a troll.

Which is against guidelines.

Not sure why some people keep making more of this

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 03/08/2014 22:11

It was posted on thread that OP was not genuine

slithytove · 03/08/2014 22:12

I get annoyed because firstly there was a lot of good information deleted, secondly hq are basically liars saying they don't like to delete threads, and it just feels like it was easier for them to do that rather than make the effort to delete offending posts.

Could have locked the thread if it was turning into a bunfight.

And by deleting them, no one can learn from them in future. There were a hell of a lot of good points being made in that thread and I feel that in many ways, it's taken away the 'voice' of people living with SN.

ArsenicFaceCream · 03/08/2014 22:13

Information about what? Confused

slithytove · 03/08/2014 22:13

Sorry Fanjo not making 'more' of anything, it's possible there is thread on thread about this topic. But this is my one Grin

It pissed me off tonight. Not looking to restart the topic of the deleted thread here.

Who posted that OP was not genuine?

Educating the uneducated on how to deal with their hang ups.

Giving insight into living with SN day in and day out.

Offering understanding so that those who lack it might gain some.

MNHQ said OP was not genuine. She is now banned

SqueakySqueak · 03/08/2014 22:18

I just hid it. Both sides were getting ridiculous.
