to hate this weather?

Hate going out in it - am too hot, irritable and sweat is pouring within seconds.

Trying to do what shopping I need to first thing - not easy with 2 under 18 months - then staying indoors for the rest of the day.

So depressing.

Dame I'm on the Norfolk/Suffolk borders. It's 26 here already, and it's only 11.15!

(Must admit haven't checked out the forecast for next week).

amyhamster · 26/07/2014 11:16

Think it rained in the night

Much fresher here today

Did come downstairs to 2 massive wolf spiders in the lounge who'd clearly come in to escape the rain

Woke dh up to evict them Blush

Sallyingforth · 26/07/2014 12:17

Clothes sticking to you
Take them off then! In this weather it's entirely optional indoors.
I just slip a light cotton dress on to go down to the shops and can't wait to get home and take it off again.
Not possible at work though, unless you work at home

Coumarin · 26/07/2014 13:18

I do Sallying and I'm still too hot. I think my internal thermostat is broken.

McFlickle · 26/07/2014 13:30

I grew up in a hot country too but I am not loving this heat! I cannot abide the sight of myself in shorts, can't wear skirts as my legs rub together so I am limited in what I can wear. My hair is long so has be up in a ponytail all the time. I burn after about 2 seconds and am stuck indoors with a baby as I don't want to take her out in the heat. Can't cool her room down either. Feel guilty moaning about it though so thank goodness for this thread! Grin

Smilesandpiles · 26/07/2014 13:36

Not sure about anyone else but I'm sick to death of hearing my neighbours.

The whinging, crying, that irritating high pitched laugh - and that's just HIM!

Closing the windows isn't an option because IT'S TOO HOT!

McFlickle · 26/07/2014 16:02

Oh yeah another one here with the noisy neighbours. Lovely family but very busy with lots of comings and goings, kids being picked up and dropped off, car engines sitting outside running, conversations at top of voice outside our windows, dog that barks every time someone walks past or knocks on their (or our door) high pitched pubescent teenage boys shouting to each other while they get their bikes out.
I think we're only noticing it now because it's when we are trying to get the baby to sleep :-)

Coumarin · 26/07/2014 16:05

Today is perfect. Warm enough for wafty clothes and sitting outside to eat but there's a cool breeze and the temperature has dropped by 5 degrees. Lovely.

combust22 · 26/07/2014 16:12

I live in Scotland. today has been 31 degrees. Very rare, but I won't complain. Now down to 24 degrees with some very light rain. Feels perfect.

ScarlettOHorror · 26/07/2014 16:15

If you have trouble with sweaty scalp and drippy make up like I do, try Odaban, it's a little spray available from amazon and Boots. You spray or dab a bit on your scalp and hairline when you've dried your hair and it stops your head sweating. I'm post hysterectomy and into the menopause and very hot and damp but this helps a lot.

alltoomuchrightnow · 26/07/2014 16:26

hating doing housework as i need a good lie down/ shower or cold bath after! and it's pretty much constant cleaning, with DP's incontinent ancient moggy. However.. I do count my blessings..this time last year I was in a tiny London flat. It was a great area but had no shower and no garden. My ex wouldn't put up curtains or blinds so the lounge was a sun filled sauna. Never imagined a year on, I'd find myself living in the countryside, middle of nowhere, no traffic no streetlights etc etc but most of all…. a garden! a small and scruffy neglected garden, but none the less, a garden! I've dreamed of a garden for years! and surrounded by meadows too (another dream)
I think all men should wrap several too small elastic bands round their bits Grin then go for a run! that is what it feels like to us ladies wearing bras! Especially those large of nork. I feel almost hatred Grin to those small busted lucky ladies going bra less in their halter neck tops with no flop page and backless dresses. I think they should all be made to strap on a pair of comedy (and heated) breasts for a day Grin
And as for having a fringe… I can't not have one big forehead, round face Ugh. sweaty stringy plastered to forehead mess. Thinking of sticking sanitary towel to brow Grin

alltoomuchrightnow · 26/07/2014 16:28

Odaban? thanks Scarlett runs to Boots . but slowly

Coumarin · 26/07/2014 20:49

Yy to fringe sticking to your forehead. Uncomfortable and so attractive. I've resorted to clipping mine back the second I'm home. It's a bit Bianca off Eastenders but needs must.

I'm also very envious of women with perky little boobs swanning about bra less.

It's raining here now! Was tempted to run outside in the altogether but I resisted.

Defenbaker · 27/07/2014 01:02

Really struggled with the humidity today - it hit 30 degrees down here (south). Have a migraine headache now. Totally sick of the humid nights.

Apparently some rain will work its way south overnight on Sunday and it will be fresher on Monday - Monday can't come soon enough for me.

WanderingTrolley1 · 27/07/2014 06:09

Yes, a (slightly) cooler week ahead.

I rejoice (a tad)!!

ipswichwitch · 27/07/2014 10:06

Thank god! I'm bf DS2 and have enormous boobs that keep sticking together in this heat. I'm also envious of the braless brigade - I'd knock some poor bugger out if I tried that! Either that or I'd just leak all over meself. Lovely.

alltoomuchrightnow · 27/07/2014 15:08

I laugh when small boobed women are envious of large ones. One summer just strap on a pair of 'comedy breasts' to quote from Blackadder, and see how you feel Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/07/2014 15:28

Norfolk is warm but bearable, nice breeze and had to put a cardi on in the pub last night as it was getting a bit freshGrin

Went for a paddle earlier, was lovely. This is much more bearable than the heat in the midlands and we had some rain last night too.

Wine Brew for everyone suffering

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/07/2014 15:29

Envy of small boobs!

Coumarin · 27/07/2014 15:38

Hope that's not a hot drink in that mug Dame Wink

Actually that reminds me of that thing that people say about hot cups of tea 'cooling you down'. What in earth are they thinking?

Smilesandpiles · 27/07/2014 15:41

It works though.

Hot tea raises your body temperature slightly, but in order to cool down again, it does so faster and for longer.

Smilesandpiles · 27/07/2014 15:42

Same as when you have a warm shower.

It works honestly.

Coumarin · 27/07/2014 18:32

Really?

I get that your internal temp drops slightly when you're too hot but it feels unpleasant all the same. Can't imagine having a hot shower in this either. Shock

Someone else will have to test the theory. Brew

Smilesandpiles · 27/07/2014 18:34

I did test the theory last night and again earlier today. It works. I didn't believe it would work but it does.

Even got the kids to do it without letting them in on what I was doing, they now have dressing gowns on and are "a bit cold mum, but not lots"

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/07/2014 19:10

Hot tea works the same as eating a curry or having a hot shower!
