to hate this weather?

Hate going out in it - am too hot, irritable and sweat is pouring within seconds.

Trying to do what shopping I need to first thing - not easy with 2 under 18 months - then staying indoors for the rest of the day.

So depressing.

I like sitting out in the evening and early morning but you can stll do that on the infinitely preferable days when it only goes up to about 22cin the middle of the day. Then you can get on with things without sweating and don't get that horrid burning feel on your skin every time you step out of the shade. My DCs play out far more in that sort of weather, they've been happier inside just mooching today.

Sidge · 24/07/2014 22:01

I love it. By the sea here, with a nice breeze.

Not so keen when I am in work for 10 hours - modern purpose built GP surgery with no air con, minimal ventilation and just some fans to waft the warm air around. Wearing a thick cotton nurse's tunic and trousers, usually with a plastic apron and rubber gloves on. Ugh.

appealtakingovermylife · 24/07/2014 22:09

Me too, I've got every single window open in my house and its still sweltering.
I also hate dressing for the summer, nothing looks right on me.
Love the dark nights and fresh winter mornings.
I do love this weather for hanging out the washing though;)

Nottinghill1 · 24/07/2014 23:41

It makes my legs feel achy and lazy!!!!

Defenbaker · 25/07/2014 00:13

Anotheronebitthedust:
"We don't have '50 weeks of shit weather.' I actually love most British weather, for its (relative) temperateness - few crazy hurricanes/snowstorms, etc, and variety:

We have lovely crisp autumn days
Freezing cold snowy days when you can wrap up and feel like a kid again with a cheeky day off work if transport gets too bad
Weeks of fresh spring when everything feels clean
Hot, but not incapacitating summer days (max 21 degrees) when it is nice out all day and you can appreciate it, but cools down in the evening for a contrast, and perfect nights sleep
Cold but not extreme winters where you can snuggle up under the duvet and warm up with hot chocolate

...All types fine and workable except this excessive heat!"

Totally agree. I started another thread about how much I hate the weather in July, because even on the days when it's not sunny it's often horribly humid at night, which makes sleeping difficult. I guess what it boils down to is that you can have too much of a good thing, including sunshine. I'm pleased that we've had a few weeks of sunny weather, but will be very glad when this heatwave comes to an end.

SinglePringle · 25/07/2014 00:17

Still loving it. I'm lying here under a silk sheet with the windows open and it feels like holiday.

I love how much it makes me sweat at the gym - I always sweat at the gym but this heat makes it feel like I'm working even harder. I love that feeling.

I should definitely move to the Middle East or suchlike!

meltedmonterayjack · 25/07/2014 05:56

Re the British weather. I've never forgotten the line in one my dd's favourite books from when she was little 'Dr Xargle's Book Of Earthlets" where Dr Xargle is giving his class a lesson on earth weather. He tells them:

There are four types of weather: Too hot, too cold, too wet and too windy.

That sums it up perfectly for me.

Delphiniumsblue · 25/07/2014 06:25

I love it. It is wonderful to wake up every morning and see a clear blue sky and sun. Keep in the shade.

goodasitgets · 25/07/2014 07:35

I'm wearing polyester thick combat trousers, a polyester shirt and steel toe cap boots Confused
Bloody boiling already. People keep saying things like "throw your windows open at night". Great, I live on the ground floor so I can't Grin
I don't mind it as much when I'm not in work but I hate being tired all day because I can't sleep at night

hazeyjane · 25/07/2014 08:43

Keep in the shade

see that is great advice, but for the fact that life seems to happen outside the shade a lot of the time!

hazeyjane · 25/07/2014 08:44

goodasitgets, dh works out of doors on shadeless sports pitches, he hates this weather, wearing industrial grade sunscream, hat, work gear, heavy boots - you have all my sympathy!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/07/2014 09:03

At last a decent night's sleep and a cool overcast morning, thank goodness. Hoping for some rain later so I don't need to go and water the allotment.

SinglePringle · 25/07/2014 09:06

Overcast here too unfortunately. The phone, however, says it's going to sunny and 28 by 11am and again all day tomorrow - yay!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/07/2014 09:12

We're predicted thunderstorms Grin.

goodasitgets · 25/07/2014 09:20

My grouch about the hot weather earlier has now been lifted by the fact we've been told it's non uniform this weekend GrinGrin

windchimes8 · 25/07/2014 09:51

Hate this weather too. Roll on winter. Hubby has an annoying phrase as he likes this weather - "lovely day", when its sunny. No its not.

ipswichwitch · 25/07/2014 11:51

Another reason I don't like hot weather - I look shit in summer clothes. For some reason I can never find ones that don't make me look like a potato.

Smilesandpiles · 25/07/2014 11:56

Infestations of maggots thanks to fortnightly bin collections. No matter how many bags you use to try to stop it, you still end up having them.

shakemysilliesout · 25/07/2014 12:45

I am so pleased to have found my people. I am 30 weeks pregnant, thats my excuse for hating summer this year, but I always hate it. I feel like I can't tell anyone because it brings them down. House gets too hot, car gets too hot. I love Autumn best. I'm Nov born btw.

justanotherbiscuit · 25/07/2014 12:53

I only hate it because I've gained so much weight this year after having a baby + an operation meaning I can't quite exercise + just eating to much fecking cake!

All my clothes are too small and I'm not buying anything new as I've started to watch now and hopefully lose it!

living in leggings and vests. I just want to wear my light pretty dresses Sad

justanotherbiscuit · 25/07/2014 12:55

it's a first world problem of mine, reading my post back I really need to suck it up!

WatchingSeaMonkeys · 25/07/2014 12:56

YABU - it's fantastic.

Even the evenings are warm - which hasn't been the case for a while.

Make the most of it - we'll be back to crappy drizzle & cold soon enough...

Smilesandpiles · 25/07/2014 12:58

Good.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/07/2014 13:39

Even the evenings are warm

Yes, no respite then either. It's definitely a bit fresher here today and there are more clouds, heading in the right direction.

YouTheCat · 25/07/2014 13:49

I like crappy drizzle.

I like a really good storm.

I'm lucky though. It's not as hot in the NE.
