to hate this weather?

Hate going out in it - am too hot, irritable and sweat is pouring within seconds.

Trying to do what shopping I need to first thing - not easy with 2 under 18 months - then staying indoors for the rest of the day.

So depressing.

Titsalinabumsquash · 24/07/2014 18:14

Hate it! I reserve my right to moan during summer, I have to listen and read everyone else being miserable in winter when I'm super happy so I get my own back during the hotter times. Grin

I get heat stroke very, very easily, no matter how much I drink. Hats or no hats, fans, sunscreen I still egg it and it sucks!

icanmakeyouicecream · 24/07/2014 18:15

Agree OP, it's grim! Roll on cold!

parallax80 · 24/07/2014 18:35

Ooh I love it! I'm a July baby, if that adds any weight to the theory.

Water bottles and wet flannel in freezer bag in freezer overnight if doing a tube journey the next day. Currently 28/40 with twins and 'nesting' obviously manifesting itself in urge to wash curtains / sofa covers / anything else I can find to make the best of the drying weather.

buffythebarbieslayer · 24/07/2014 18:47

March baby and my fav time of year. Getting lighter but still cool/cold.

Hate the heat and endless brightness

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 24/07/2014 19:03

I'm a July baby - my birthday is next week, and I hate this weather. Much prefer spring and autumn (LOVE winter)!

My poor DP does work in lofts and on rooftops - the heat is unimaginable. Some days he and his employee have to call it a day and not work at all as it is far too dangerous. They could pass out in a loft and no-one would notice - they would die, pure and simple.

And my daughter works as a lifeguard - poolside is also incredibly hot (indoor pool with lots of glass). Astoundingly, there appears to be no upper legal limit for high temperatures in which to work.

Anotheronebitthedust · 24/07/2014 19:03

We don't have '50 weeks of shit weather.' I actually love most British weather, for its (relative) temperateness - few crazy hurricanes/snowstorms, etc, and variety:

We have lovely crisp autumn days
Freezing cold snowy days when you can wrap up and feel like a kid again with a cheeky day off work if transport gets too bad
Weeks of fresh spring when everything feels clean
Hot, but not incapacitating summer days (max 21 degrees) when it is nice out all day and you can appreciate it, but cools down in the evening for a contrast, and perfect nights sleep
Cold but not extreme winters where you can snuggle up under the duvet and warm up with hot chocolate

and a month or twos worth of shitty rain, fair enough. But at least you can do things in it! Yes walking around may be a pain, but once you are in work/club/cinema/gym/shopping centre/friend's house you're sorted!

All types fine and workable except this excessive heat!

Fair enough some people like hot weather and others cold. people are different. But at least there are working conditions for cold weather (minimum temperatures for workplaces, etc.) and people don't act like you are crazy if you complain about the rain.

June baby, and hate the hot weather.

Hayfever, greasing yourself up with suncream, non sleeping children, no energy, feeling dizzy, sweat, ds overheating. Bah bloody humbug.....roll on wooly jumper and bobble hat weather.

WienerDiva · 24/07/2014 19:25

Thank heavens it's not just me. Getting fed up of everyone telling me off for being hot and bothered.

Completely over sweating my titties off by just sitting in the car. Looking like a street urchin in creased clothes because the thought of ironing in this weather makes me want to cry. That's just two examples of my never ending list of shite that is British Summer.

hamptoncourt · 24/07/2014 19:56

Sorry OP, I am one who says the hotter the better. I absolutely love it Grin

Anyway, the schools have broken up now, that usually means a week or so more till it all starts heading into autumn (hopefully).

code · 24/07/2014 20:09

It's vile in london, we have such horrible humidity EVERY TIME it's hot. Bad fashions and too much flesh on display. DH constantly insisting on barbecues every sodding weekend with the flies and heat. I am tempted to barbecue him.

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 20:15

I'm by the coast Jaded and whilst it is definitely better than in a city, there was nothing fresh about it today or yesterday here. But yes, I'm grateful I'm not in London. That truly is horrendous in heat.

DH has come home with a fancy fan. I'm now practically straddling it with joy.

CruCru · 24/07/2014 20:18

Dudes - do you remember last winter?!? It rained. And rained. And then it rained some more.

The winter before it was freezing. All bloody winter. Columnists in the Times were writing things like "It's 6C! A whole six degrees above freezing!".

This will not last. By autumn it will probably be windy and drizzly.

watchtower · 24/07/2014 20:21

I hate it too.

I'm training for a half marathon at the moment and hate running in the heat.

Went out for an hour at 6:15 this morning and even though it was cloudy and breezy it was still so bloody sticky and humid.

BittersweetSymphony · 24/07/2014 20:22

I loathe it. Absolutely loathe it. You are completely reasonable. Everytime it gets hot like this I consider moving... to the north pole. I can't stand it, it makes me grumpy and sweaty and sleep badly.

Roll on autumn & winter! :)

watchtower · 24/07/2014 20:22

(August baby!)

Smilesandpiles · 24/07/2014 20:24

Kids screeching, parents shouting and screaming at kids...

but what pisses me off the most is this:

The people who declare you weird for hating summer and this weather, stating how odd you are and then begin to list all the things you SHOULD be doing to enjoy it even down to how you are "not dressing for the weather" - bollocks, I know how to dress thanks and it makes bog all difference to how I feel about this season - are the same bloody ones who complain that it's too hot when you catch them trying to cool down or cool the kids down because they've got heat stroke.

ScarlettDragon · 24/07/2014 20:26

I agree I've always hated the heat. My parents used to joke about us going abroad and me coming back whiter than I was before we went. (I used to sit in the shade and read all the time whilst my parents and sister were in the pool or the sea Blush). Even when I was a skinny little thing I used to get hot after 5 minutes outside in the summer. For me the perfect day is sunny with a cool breeze and the temperature around 16 (degrees, Celsius, Fahrenheit I don't know).

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 20:35

I noticed today that I don't really sweat. I mean, I do a bit obviously but not proper wet stuff. My face just gets hotter and hotter and feels like it's going to explode.

Being snow white is crap in this weather too. (All those bloody dwarves to look after. Ltb's.)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/07/2014 20:48

I wish I didn't sweat, the slightest exertion in this weather and I'm breaking out all over, it's horrible.

Lovely and cool in the garden now though.

Smilesandpiles · 24/07/2014 20:58

I sweat but it's more of a constant sheen all over my body...like a hot condensation that doesn't actually come from one place, but from everywhere at once.

Sallystyle · 24/07/2014 21:00

Love the heat but hate the muggy evenings. So much easier to keep the kids occupied in this weather. We can spend hours playing in the river.

Andallmyhopeisgone · 24/07/2014 21:05

I love it. I hate that so many places put freezing cold air conditioning on though Angry

Princesselsaanna · 24/07/2014 21:32

I am loving every single second of it, I feel like I am on holiday. I just love walking outside and the warm heat hitting me in the face, I love sitting in the garden all evening and having an early cup of tea in the garden in the morning. I just feel happy. I hate the uk weather. I don't recall any cold crisp winter mornings this last winter, it just bloody rained for months and was grey from October till April, just horrible.
